I guess it's hard to be sure, but chances are that having your computer operating in a smoggy environment is more likely to be bad for it than it is to be negligible. Whether it caused the components to fail is anyone's guess, but I would say it's a good rule of thumb not to smoke or vape or burn things near a computer that uses air intake.
