shredderman's Achievements

  1. Wouldn't trust that unless you try the card on another system and see if it posts.
  2. Not entirely. Windows can fail to detect hardware that could otherwise work. Remember: This is just the VBios at play here. The hardware itself is fine, it's on the firmware end of it.
  3. Just updated my signature. Haven't been on this forum in years. But yeah, that motherboard in my signature is the one I used for the Xeon setup. It's a good hybrid.
  4. You have a 6600? I still have my Xeon X5450 (Q9650) system with a GTX 760. I have passed it down to my GF, although my main rig is also a zombie from used parts. You can find these real cheap but it's better when you get the E5450, the X has a huge TDP. I had to buy a huge cooler for it. Also the E5450 overclocks much better. Since being a 771 socket CPU I did the classic pin sticker mod and bam! She works in a 775 motherboard no problem. Was a pain to find the right motherboard. Ended up with a Hybrid that supports 8GB of DDR2 or DDR3.
  5. Reference models have the original cooler designed by either AMD or Nvidia. Aftermarket models have custom coolers from Asus, EVGA, Sapphire, XFX etc. There can also be other changes to the Graphics Cards with aftermarket GPUs as well.
  6. They're claiming that Logan is doing nothing but damage controlling for proprietary sake and that he doesn't care about the community what so ever. Even after owning up to his mistakes, they still continue to spin it all back at him, it's terrible. I just don't understand why they would pick sides and divide themselves when they're still trying to sort things out. They said things like "We're only on Wendell's side, we don't trust Logan".
  7. The Tek Syndicate forums are full of turmoil right now. There's drama left right and center. A majority of us over there are still continuing like normal and getting into much more appropriate discussions, but the saltiness that I have experienced, jeez... Even talking to any of them to calm them down is like pouring liquid hot magma on top of a fire.
  8. Can someone make a sticky warning about making "Does this Bottleneck???" threads? Everyone flocks at the chance to have a fight over literally everything instead of helping OP.
  9. It all now comes down to how well Zen goes. If it fails, all the credibility goes out the window. On the plus side and knowing both Samsung and Global Foundries should give AMD the push to get things right this time. You all have to remember that it all comes down to them both competing, otherwise everything will be a monopoly and Intel will overprice EVERYTHING. So it's not good to say "But Intel is better? Go home fanboy." That doesn't help in the long run. Think of the cost of the implications at stake here. Sure, you might not like AMD, but without them and at the end of the day they at least keep prices down for both of the companies. Competition is what's important. Look at both AMD and Nvidia, they might not be competing at levels in which we want, but they're competing at a level in which we're seeing improvements across the board. This sort of low blow killing spree hatred is just not a good thing in general. AMD have always had less money than Intel, they can't just make something overnight and that is why they can't compete as well against Intel. That's the big picture here. We need competition, we need innovation and better future developments in the technology of IT. This comes at a price. In more simple terms: Competition good! Monopoly Bad! I have High hopes Zen will deliver. They're now going to use SMT which Intel uses, DDR4. PCI-E 3 and all the other bells and whistles... You get my point. @ While you do bring up a good point, all of those videos are outdated. It's been 3 years since AMDs last "High End" SKUs. It's time they upgraded.
  10. 1989 IBM Model M. Best keyboard I've ever had.
  11. That's insane! I barely even reach 60c on my Air-Cooled FX 6300. I have the Asus M5A97 R2 (970 Chipset). It's also overclocked to 4.5GHz and it's stable even on full load. How you can reach 81c and stand it is beyond me, that Motherboard doesn't even have a VRM heatsink (Can't imagine what temp that's at). I've actually had that MSI motherboard before, but never used it. A friend of mine even tried it on his 4300, it sucks; especially with only a 4 phase power design.
  12. Have you tried turning it off and on again? On a more serious note: With all that's said and done, I'm really glad AMD has stopped playing around with APUs in a corner somewhere, ready to push out Zen. I'm sure if they actually go with SMT this time instead of the failure that was CMT (Seriously, who thought that you could jam two cookies into a jar that could only handle one at a time? UCK!). Not to complain though, my FX 6300 runs fine... At 4.5GHz
