    Old:

    New:

It'll take some getting used to, but I think I might like the new layout a bit more. And theatre mode videos taking up the entire width is fantastic, no more do I have to have a tiny box on my 1440p monitor!

Im not sure if this breaks the community standards (if it does, i will take out the link and you can personally ask me for it or find it yourself) but I found this PDF of a book that I have been reading in my free time that I recommend.

    From here theres
Assuming you know the basic format of the files as well as the structure of the files/folders then you should be able to use a bash/sh script to work through the txts and convert them using the command line tool or which ever language you prefer. My bash is too rusty to even attempt the code right now, but just a script to recursively check the folder system for the text files, run the program/tool on it as called for, and save it with the appropriate name. In windows, something like this

I love Mint for this reason (for new users)!
It's super noob friendly with Cinnamon (it's Windows-like interface).
It's also based off of Ubuntu, so has active development and updated base code / packages.
It also has a fairly large support community.

Do you have Secure Boot enabled in your system's BIOS? I know that can cause some issues with alternative operating systems sometimes.

I actually don't mind running and HDD on my laptop; I spill enough chemicals and get bodily fluids on it from school and such (highschool student and EMT. Not weird at all). I'm a pretty big miser when it comes to computers, so I don't want to spend the extra money to get another SSD when I have half a thousand Laptop Harddrives lying around.

cazetofamo reacted to ChuckMaurice in Best and popular Linux distro?
I'd say the most popular Linux distributions, in terms of support and software compatibility are :

    - Ubuntu (and the Linux Mint variant): great out of the box experience, the beginner's go-to distribution when discovering Linux. Linux Mint is the distribution with the most users in the Linux community but is basically a fork of Ubuntu with a better UI (that you can install yourself if you want).

    - Fedora: based on RedHat which is the biggest paid distribution, with a lot of pros using it. More cutting edge software but less easy to apprehend for a beginner. This is the one I began Linux with back in 2007, so I still prefer it over Ubuntu but I'm biased.

    - ArchLinux: if you really want to learn Linux deeply and tinker with your computer. The community is wide and has a lot of advanced users. but this is for advanced users, and you will likely spend more time tinkering with it for fun and optimization than actually using your computer.

Also look at the different UI (desktop environments) Linux has to offer, there is a lot of choice. Ubuntu for example packs Unity, which I personally hate (the desktop-tablet idiotic compromise...), but you can install and try a lot of different UI without switching distro: Gnome 3, KDE, Cinnamon, MATE...

Yeah. My school is in the news for suing Dropbox among others.

Essentially what the patent is for is automating the process of putting files of a similar type into the same directory.

    Here's the specifics:
According to the article, Dr. Choi was not responding to their emails. I swung by his office on the way to class (right down the hall) and lo and behold, door closed and lights seemingly off (although this is pretty normal. He actually doesn't spend much time in his office from what I hear unless it's it's his office hours and he's required to be there).

The head of the CS Dept. here told our class that it's kinda stupid, but we're legally in the right and the university does what it does.

I believe he said something to the effect of the university having deals with these companies and they didn't hold up there end, but I'm not 100% sure, I was studying for a test I had right after that class.

He also informed us that the university has several patent deals with large companies, such as Google (most of those being in the realm of Cyber Security).

you need to look at the chipset not the brand. unfortunately they dont always advertise the chipset. I use Alpha cards because they are cheap, theres a local official distributer and they provide proper spec sheets so its easy to pick a card with the ath9k chipset
