  1. what should I see when i ping hte modem? does it matter if there is internet connected or not? the modem is ours that we bought a little over a year ago that comcast accepts. Im not sure where the nearest comcast node is. I am currently plugged in via ethernet directly into the router, not going through any walls. I have not tried changing any settings on the router other than initial installation that comcast told me to do. To change the DNS info etc., I'm assuming that's just in the router settings? Thanks for the replies.
  2. Hi there, I've been having a lot of issues with my home network. These issues have been going on for about 6 months now. I'm not an IT expert or anything, but i have built 2 of my own computers so at least I understand how computers work. I don't understand anything fancy about networking though. Basically I have a C7100V Netgear modem/router that i have wired to my computer, and the other 2 laptops on the network function wirelessly. We've been having constant issues with the laptops saying things like "download stopped due to network disconnection" or something like that, and when i play games like CSGO or Dota2 on my computer (direct connected) I have major lag issues. It will last for a couple hours, then get better for a little bit (or at least not notice quite as much lag in games), but then it always goes bad. We have replaced just about every wire in the house (that are accessible, obviously nothing behind the walls), the coax splitters, ethernets etc. and nothing has worked. Comcast has been out several times and they simply cannot find the issue. The router is only about a year old and we figured a 300$ router should last longer. However a couple months ago we got a new motorola one to try (nothing fancy just a basic model SBG6580) and see if that helped anything. Unforunately weve had basically the same issue all along. In the last two weeks, Comcast has had us go back to the Netgear one as it should be more reliable, but we constantly have the same issues. Online games are basically unplayable. 160 ms ping in CSGO on a good day. Ive tried just pinging the gateway with and without the internet connected and had mixed results. And honestly I'm not sure if that even helps in troubleshooting. But when pinging the gateway 192.168.0.1 out of 1907 packets sent, I dont lose any, but i have 20ms ping average with a maximum of 1411ms and 1ms minimum. Its just so unreliable. I tried disconnecting the coax into the router and pinged it again with even worse results. Out of 90 packets sent, 0 were lost but minimum was 2ms, and maximum was 828ms with average of 151ms. Like i said i'm not even sure if that helps in troubleshooting but I thought I'd try. I haven't tried pinging the motorola as I have yet to reconnect it, but it showed all the same characteristics when we did have it connected and that one is literally only a month or two old. We've figured there has to be a Comast issue upstream of us, but I thought I'd check for advice to anything else before I contact them again. Theyve essentially found that there are no issues at all coming to our house. Honestly we just need any advice possible as certain things are just not doable online anymore. Any help is much appreciated, and feel free to ask any questions that would help. As I mentioned I'm no network expert or anything so bear with me If i don't understand the lingo. Thanks in advance for any advice given.
  3. Hi there, So my system will run for many hours, I leave it on 24/7, and I even know the wattage I'm running consistently, on a typical 15 amp breaker. Basically I'm never drawing more than about 8 amps on my computer system. Whenever I reset the breaker, the computer works just fine for about 24 hours and eventually trips the breaker again. I've tried on two different circuits so I know it's the computer system and not a circuit breaker or wiring issue. The same thing occurs on two different circuits. Is there a way I can figure out what component is causing this issue? I find it strange that the system will run just fine for about a day and then trip the breaker, it's never instant. Any help/info/advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
  4. I can't get to the Windows screen even to be able to boot into safe mode. Advice? Thanks
  5. Hi there, I just downloaded some drivers through device manager for my Rx 470 GPU, and now when I restarted the system, the GPU will post the bios screen, but it won't go beyond that. It will simply have a black screen with a never ending losing circle thing. Any advice anyone?? Thanks
  6. Hi there, I am wondering if anyone happens to know the performance difference, primarily in 1080p as the main video game I play is dota 2, between a single sapphire rx 580 4gb nitro and 2 msi rx 470s 4gb armor in crossfire. Like I said I mainly only play dota in 1080, but can't really find any info that compares these sets of cards. Any advice/info is appreciated. Thanks
  7. Hi there, I have 2 rx 470s that I want to install in crossfire with a cpu that doesn't have integrated graphics, and I'm wondering if the system will automatically recognize and work in crossfire if I just plug in my display port cable to my monitor from one of the video cards? Is there anything else I need to do? Thanks
  8. The problem is moving to ddr4 ram is so much more expensive, and I have no need to upgrade anything but my motherboard
  9. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any lga 1150 Intel mobos available for sale, and where I could find them, with 7 pcie slots and at least 1 m.2 port ? I've noticed a lot of the msi and gigabyte z97 gaming versions of these mobos fall into this category, but I can't find any new, or even decent used, ones for sale at all and I'm not sure why. Any input is appreciated. Thanks
  10. Honestly the only reason I would is because the xeon uses lga 1150 socket and there aren't many good mining motherboards for that socket. I might just have to go with the ASRock H81 Pro BTC as that's my only good option, however it can only accommodate 6 GPUs. But you're right, I don't need to upgrade if I don't need to
  11. But I do also have 3 more 570 4gbs on the way, and that's what I'm wondering about if I'll still have enough? Thanks for the input
  12. Hi there, I currently have a gaming/mining pc right now and I plan on adding a couple additional GPUs to the rig. Currently running with intel xeon e3 1231 v3 (might be changing to 7700 soon) msi z97s sli krait edition mobo (might be changing that also to a ASUS PRIME Z270-A) 16 gb ram 480gb ssd 1 powercolor r9 380x 3 powercolor rx 470 4 gb 1 sapphire rx 580 4 gb and I have 3 additional gigabyte rx 570 4gb on the way I currently have a corsair cx600m and a rm850x running only the r9 380x and the 3 rx 470s (so no sapphire rx 580 or 3 570s on the system yet) and while mining I'm drawing pretty consistently 700w for the whole system I am wondering if the two power supplies would be sufficient for when I get the rest of the cards mining? I can't seem to find any good psu calculators that allow more than about or so GPUs in the calculation? Any help is appreciated. Thanks
  13. With rumors of there being future issues mining with 4 GBvram GPUs, I'd steer away from them if possible
  14. ty that's good to know. Its a brand new 390 that I haven't opened. Just looked at TDP comparisons and that's really high. I might not open it at all and resell it. Any suggestions on more efficient mining GPUs? are rx 480 8gb or 580 8 gb more efficient? Assuming they sell at regular standard MSRP, not what they are now, which would make more sense to use in the future?
  15. Interesting story. 13 isn't a typo lol. 13 LEDs is for pure badassery in my all-white case setup. I have a cx600m corsair currently. Considering the Rm850x because its white, but I'm wondering if that will be enough for my setup including a r9 380x, and 2 r390s for mining, or is that just too small? I may add more late for mining, so I'm considering the 850w PSU and adding another 850w PSU later, but in the meantime I'm not sure if 850w is sufficient for those 3 GPUs. Thanks
  16. Hi, I currently have in my gaming rig: Intel Xeon e3-1231 v3 16 gb ram Msi z97s sli krait edition mobo About 13 led case fans 650w corsair psu R9 380x power color gpu Optical drive etc I have a new powercolor r9 390 8gb that I plan to add for mining. I'm considering upgrading to the corsair all white modular rm850 psu (if I need to). I guess I'm just looking for advice on sizing my psu. I'm thinking I might later add one more r9 390 8gb power color for mining if they ever come available. Assuming I do add one more, what size psu would you recommend knowing the system would most likely be running 24/7? Thanks in advance
  17. Yea I was so confused. Based on all the research I've done I shouldn't have any problems maxing out settings and getting 60 fps which I don't now. Possibly biggest fail since building my PC
  18. So I just made the most amateur mistake. I realized I had my graphics card outputting to both my monitors at the same time. I thought I unplugged one but clearly did not. As soon as I disconnected the other one, my fps skyrocketed to over 120 fps. Sorry everyone but thanks for the help. But a follow-up question is am I able to leave my 2nd monitor plugged in, but somehow not have the video card display to it? Like if I want to display it there in the future I can by changing a setting or something? Thanks again for the help
  19. That's what's interesting. I would think a r9 380x at 1080p should be able to play dota2 at 60 fps high settings. Dota isn't a very graphically demanding game as far as I know
  20. Ok that's fine, but I would like to have it all on high settings, and when I max out everything I sit around 30 fps, which is very noticeable. Is there any issue with the fact that I use a DVI-D cord rather than an HDMI?
  21. V sync is off. But I still never go over 60 fps, and at highest settings I only get about 30 fps
  22. I'm using a 24" acer 1080p monitor 60 hz 5 ms response time. I also have a 27" benQ that I use for console gaming that's 1 ms response time but also 60 hz. Do I really need a higher Hz monitor to have higher fps? I understand there could be tearing but I'd even like to have closer to 80 fps if possible. Another similar question though is I would think with an r9 380x I could play at highest settings but I been dropping down to 30 fps if I do. Is the video card not sufficient for that? If I could keep a consistent 60 fps that would be fine too, but I'd like to have it all on high settings if possible
  23. My system is a intel xeon e3 1231 v3, r9 380x (not overclocked or anything), 16 gb ram, ssd for storage. I've noticed I am always stuck on 60 fps no matter what and I'm not sure why. I'd like to be closer to 100 and I don't think my hardware should be an issue as far as I know. Maybe it's a settings issue? Hopefully someone with Dota2 knowledge can help me as I'm relatively new to Dota2 even though I played Dota1 like crazy. I've also noticed my graphics card rarely gets over 40 deg Cel, which isn't a bad thing but even at 60 fps (and I can never seem to go higher), the temp never goes up. I'd happily increase higher temps to get higher framerates as those temps are still really low even at full load. I feel like I'm missing something. Also I should mention I'm only playing at 1080p. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

So I have the exact same issue with my r9 380x , my tv is cutting off the edges. I can't access advanced settings on the tv unless I use vga I believe but I'm using hdmi. Not sure if there's an amd control panel or something? Thanks
  25. I have the same issue with my apex ld3288m TV. The image edges get cut off. I have r9 380x. Any help anyone?
