Never go over 1.45v on cpu unless you're a mad man with serious cooling. You want a balance of performance without tons of voltage.

HalfOfALifeLeft got a reaction from PerfectPlasma in GPU and CPU OC boundaries/bases?
I dont have a Ryzen CPU, but with my STRIX 1060 6gb I pushed 2130 MHz stable from 1700. I think I still have more headroom but I think 2130 is enough on air.

alright, they arent too expensive so I think I can fit it in the budget with like $20ish left to use on something else. Thanks for the help!

HalfOfALifeLeft got a reaction from Spork829 in Peripheral upgrades
It was a good value and that price wasnt even on sale. The USB hud and audio passthrough was an added bonus.

I've always liked Steelseries QcK for a mousepad but that's pretty subjective. Blue Snowball or Yeti (depending on budget for the mic) are both awesome options. Also TIL there are Rosewill keyboards.

HalfOfALifeLeft got a reaction from kokakolia in Help with buying headphones
alright so I'll consider those after watching a few reviews like all the headphones that were suggested (that are also in my price range). Thanks for the suggestion!

The Philips has a 3.5mm headphone jack. It comes with a removable wire with the same connector. So you just have to remove the the wire and plug the mic.
The boom pro is pretty decent, good enough for gaming. It's not as nice as the Mod Mic but it's also half the price.

I can definitely vouch for the hyper-X cloud II and even cloud 1. They offer excellent value, very good sound, a nice mic, and are very confy. I have not tried the revolvers though, but they seem to be very good as well:

HalfOfALifeLeft got a reaction from genexis_x in Specs needed to max out Arma 3
First look, I have heard that the EVGA superNOVA NEX has some voltage issues that lead to early HDD failure,
Second look, no RGB?!? This is LTT forums for crying out loud! Although The price adds an extra 200 USD for the RGB.
Thanks for the suggestion!

HalfOfALifeLeft reacted to Ithanul in x99 system for less than $650
Reason I only buy from people that have a good amount of rep points (home forum uses a rep system). TPU which is another forum uses another site to track sells and buyer rep.
Most of my parts are 2nd hand: PSU, SSDs, CPUs (all of them are 2nd hand), GPUs (all of them are 2nd hand).
I think the last thing I bought new was DDR4 RAM.

ryzen has no igp and you want to actually be able to use most programs.. one would assume it won't work on the default MS display driver

what? he isn't doing any graphical work by the sound of it, the 430 is just to get it to actually boot to the desktop

HalfOfALifeLeft reacted to kaisei in Best headphones for 150 USD
Since you're on a budget, maybe check out the HD558. They are $99 at Best Buy and if you add a $1 filler you can use VISA Checkout to get $25 off $100. The sound stage is very good, and there is some bass to add a little emphasis on those booms. People are always saying that the HD558/HD598 are some of the most comfortable headphones they've used.

I always play in low settings, for the FPS gain. and the i3 is what I was originally going to use. I think this might be the list I go with. Thanks for the list! And also I would like to thank everyone for being good people and not commenting "wait for zen"
