  1. Try reinstalling your drivers. If this fails, you should then try a system restore or a complete reinstall.
  2. Troubleshooting a faulty RM650x that I bought refurbished. Are there any remedies for random shutdowns?

  3. No, I have not added anything since I finished it. I am going to see about stepping up on my wattage too, from 650 to 750 just to be safe. The reference cards (like any of the founders edition nVidia card, for example) usually run a bit hotter. I have two 120mm fans in the front of my case as intake fans and I am running an Intel TS13x liquid cooler in a push/pull configuration in the rear that helps as an exhaust. This brought my card temps down from 84c under load - I know, not much of a gain. Anything at or below 85 is a safe operating temperature for the card.
  4. I think I might have this problem isolated to my power supply, but I thought I would come on over here and hear your thoughts. While under a load of any sort - even just in the UEFI settings, my PC will randomly shut down. My system will stay powered on for a matter of a few hours at a time, or as little as two minutes at a time. I have gone as far as to reinstalling my graphics drivers, pulling my overclock out, re-seating my RAM, and checking all of my cables once more for loose ends. My thermals are normal, with my CPU running at 60c, and GPU at 82c under load. I have also sent in an RMA request to Corsair. Specs are in my signature, but here they are anyway. I just want to make sure I am headed the right direction with this. 5. Also, the M.2 SSDs have faster sequential reads than the SATA III SSDs on average. I wound up paying $54 for my refurbished 128gb 600p.
  6. @deXxterlab97 I am running a 128gb SSD in my build just for now. 128 is enough to store a few games, and your operating system. For her use it will be perfect. If she needs some more storage, I can get another SSD coming for files and such. I also have a spare OCZ Vertex 128gb around somewhere.
  7. I thought I would pass this one along. I am planning a build for my girlfriend, as she is getting ready to head off to college. She is into gaming, at least somewhat, and I have been trying to convince her that PC gaming is a little better than console gaming. She is primarily worried that she's going to be even worse on PC than she already is on console - while in all reality she's a well-seasoned Overwatch player. She is into other titles - GTA V and Fallout 4 just to name a couple. Here are my plans for her build. I am on a budget, as she doesn't want me to spend "too much" I have linked each component with their respective sales page. Case: DIYPC DIY-F2-P - Newegg ($35.98) Power Supply: EVGA 500BQ Semi-modular - Newegg ($44.99) Motherboard: Asus H110M-A/M.2 - Newegg ($59.00) Processor: Intel CORE i3-6100 - Newegg ($119.99) Cooler: Cryorig M9i - Newegg (Already owned) Graphics: nVidia GeForce GTX 1060 Founders Edition - nVidia ($299.99) RAM: 1x 8gb HyperX Fury DDR4-2133 - Newegg ($53.99) SSD: Intel 600p 128gb PCIe 3.0 x 4 M.2 - Newegg ($64.99) OS: Windows 10 Professional (Already owned) Total (before shipping/sales tax, if applicable): $678.93 I think that this would be perfect for her to start on and will provide a great upgrade path for now. Let me know what y'all think and any comments are appreciated.
  8. Slick piece man. The 4790k should last you a while longer. I think Cannonlake has some stuff coming for us later on. You did a fantastic job on the color theme! Wish I could have stuck to that in my build
  9. Honestly, I think that Intel has created quite possibly the biggest stalemate in the CPU industry. In all seriousness - I see no differences between Kaby Lake and Skylake other than faster base clock speeds. A Skylake chip can run as fast as a Kaby Lake chip with a mild overclock. I mean, come on. I bought an i5-6600k the day before Kaby Lake came out. I am a little bummed out, but I am just going to wait for Cannonlake to come out and upgrade then. That's just my opinion though. I think AMD has something special for us and I look to see team red take the CPU industry again.
  10. I know this is a little bit of a tangent, but do they still do build log of the week? It's been a while since I've been able to catch WAN show.
  11. until

Is BLOTW still a thing? I wouldn't necessarily be eligible, anyway - my build isn't quite all there yet.
  12. EDIT: 11/01/17 14:23 This build is finished! I will be posting more pictures and benchmark results soon. Stay tuned! Greetings, LTT. Thanks for stopping in to check out my build log. This is what I have been working on for the past month and a half or so. I am building (yet another) sleeper, and it seems like whenever one rolls across here that there are some mixed opinions. Well, here is my shot at it and I don't mind any criticism. I know it isn't all there yet but it's getting really close! I am working with an eMachines ET1161-07 OEM case, which housed a 2.2 GHz Athlon system some time back, and it never let me down. It sat in my closet for about a year before I decided to pull it apart and sell the parts that I could. From there I put another system in the case, and wound up buying another case to sell that system in. I was one of those people who swore to AMD on my life and would never turn to Intel. After a long night of thinking and research, I chose to go to the blue side of the coin. Now that I have a better paying job, my wallet isn't screaming at me as much when I build a system. This is what I am calling Project Z. I know, rather vague, but my goal was to erect the baddest sleeper I could with a $1000 budget. Also, Thanks to Gigabyte for sending me some case badges! Project: Z Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170MX-Gaming 5 PSU: Corsair RM650x (Factory recertified) CPU: Intel CORE i5-6600k @ 4.00 GHz (planning on overclocking some more!) CPU Cooling: Intel TS13X Liquid Cooling (Single 120mm) GPU: nVidia GeForce GTX 1070 Founders Edition RAM: 16GB Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4-2666 SSD: Intel 600p PCIe 3.0 x 4 M.2 NVMe 128gb Case fan: 1x Arctic F9 PWM Case: eMachines ET1161-07 OEM So now, on to the eye candy for you folks. It's what you came for after all, right? I really like the way this thing is turning out so far, I just have to find a way to get the front I/O cables managed out of the way. Otherwise things are pretty good. I had to run my PCIe power cable to my 1070 over one of my coolant hoses - it would not have worked any other way, but I can always go back and try something else. Let me know what you guys think so far! Any opinions are appreciated. I'll be sure to keep you all updated!
  13. I think you may be thinking of the NCASE M1.
