  1. You have convinced me to get a 1440p monitor. Mainly because then I could just get one monitor and hook it up to both the xbox and the PC. I have a 10 series graphics card so that would allow me to use Freesync with both too. Do you or anyone have any top pics when it comes to 1440p monitors at higher that 60hz refresh rate? Whilst keeping in mind the cost.
  2. Yeah I was looking into that too. I was thinking of going for the 1440p monitor on my gaming PC and then a 4k one for the xbox. Or would you recommend a 1440p one on both? Do you have any good examples? My computer has an Nvidia card so would it need G-Sync? I have heard that you can force G-Sync through a V-sync monitor.
  3. I am looking into buying an Xbox One X and have also decided I would want to pair it up with a 4k monitor. Being someone who doesnt know much about the different technologies out there in the monitor space. I thought I would post something here to get some advice. Usage wise, I would be almost soully used for the Xbox gaming. But maybe every now and then I would watch some Netflix or sport on it. In terms of budget, im looking for something on the lower end of the scale, if possible, and if anyone knows of any deals going around on some higher grade stuff then definitely send them my way. If there is anymore information that you need then please let me know. Thanks.
  4. Never mind. It's working. Does it make a difference if the drive is called D:/ or C:/ etc? What's the best method for moving the OS onto the SSD from my HDD? The plan is now to move OS onto that SSD and then purchase the 860 EVO 500GB M.2 (Is there an advantage with M.2 over 2.5"?) for my games and demanding programmes
  5. Ok, will look into it thanks. What would be the best kind of SSD to go for? NVME etc? I'm not too sure. I have attached a screenshot of what I can see in the disk management. Plus the box for formatting the drive. If you still think I should reformat then let me know if those settings are correct. Samsung SSD. So you're probably right. I'm writing it off too early.
  6. Would you recommend the 860 evo1tb? To be honest, not sure if it is broken. My computer recognises that it is there but I can't transfer anything onto it, or if I can and try to use it, it starts playing up. Any idea what that could be?
  7. Hello all, hope you are all well. Been debating updating my storage in my PC as the HHD I've had is getting pretty old (can't even remember what it is) and the SSD that I had stopped working a while back meaning that I had to run the OS off the HDD for the last year or so, which as you can imagine is painfully slow. Now my question is what kind of setup do I go for? Computer Uses I am a big gamer. At the moment all my games are loaded onto my working but (seems slow) HDD. Just started playing Battlefield 5 and noticed that sometimes while loading into games the HDD would max out at 100% and the framerate would get choppy and the sound would get very laggy, this would return to normal once in the game as expected. With my limited computer knowledge, I have come to the conclusion that my HDD is bottlenecking my PC (feel free to correct me if you think I'm wrong). Other uses include normal browsing, youtube, light editing every now and again and a little bit of streaming. Just the normal. So below I have listed some options that I have highlighted after a little bit of research. Let me know which one you think would be best or if you have any other suggestions, tweaks or comments to make then feel free. Also if you could help me decide whether to go for NVME or M.2 or one of the other kinds Option 1 - All out SSD Purchase two new SSDs. One for the OS/general files and the other just for the games Option 2 - One HDD and one SSD Get a large SSD for my games and OS and then have an HDD for other programmes and files Option 3 - Something you think would suit my situation better Also once I have purchased the new drives, what is the best way to transfer the OS onto the new drive? Thanks for taking the time to read this and comment on your thoughts!
  8. Also, the 1600x seems to only be 10 or so pounds more than the 1600. Is there a big difference in performance between the two?
  9. I am now heading towards the Ryzen chip. If I did, would that mean I wouldn't need to change my motherboard, seeing as its already AMD compatible?
  10. When it comes to streaming is it just a coincidence that most of the big streamers use Intel chips? Or are the higher end AMD chips competitive too?
  11. I agree, the 970 is still a good card, but from what I have seen from reviews and forums the 1070is a great consumer card for gaming and is great value for performance. And with the new games becoming more and more intensive, I would like to play them at a solid FPS rather than an ok one.
  12. Ah, my bad. Where it says same as above for the RAM, I was intending that to mean the RAM is in the same situation as the motherboard. I know that I will need to upgrade to DDR4. And no it doesn't need to be Intel, but I think I would prefer it to be as I think they would benefit more than an AMD chip. Case and storage are already sorted.
  13. Current Setup GPU - ASUS STRIX 970 CPU - AMD fx6350 Motherboard - MSI 970 Gaming RAM - HyperX Fury 2x4GB DDR3 Power Supply - Cant remember exactly but I'm pretty sure its 450watts. So it may be the case that this needs to be upgraded also. 1. Budget and Location - Around £1000 for all parts required. I live in the UK and will be buying the parts in the UK. 2. Aim - The aim of these upgrades is mostly for high-end gaming. With the current setup I have I am able to play most games with fairly good FPS, however, I would like to take it to the next level so that I can play the latest big titles with either very high fps or very solid fps with very high-quality graphics. Games I am playing currently include PUBG, COD, Football Manager, Battlefront 2, Battlefield 1 to name a few. I am also thinking about going into streaming at some point as well so the current setup I have is definitely not up to scratch. 3. Monitors - I am currently running 2 1080p monitors, but keep in mind that my long-term goal is to upgrade either one of those monitors to a 1440p monitor or maybe go to a 3 screen setup with 1 1440p monitor and 2 1080p ones. 4. Parts (I think) I need/would like - Intel compatible motherboard, Intel CPU, GPU, DDR4 RAM. 5. My Current Upgrade List - Keep in mind these parts were found after minimal research, hence why I am here seeking advice. CPU - i5 7600k GPU - EVGA Geforce GTX 1070 8GB SC Gaming Motherboard - Have not found anything here yet. Never know what to go for when it comes to motherboards. RAM - Same as above. If there is any info that I have missed that would help you help me then let me know then hopefully I can fill those gaps. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  14. Sounds good. However, I think I would only be looking to buy the CPU. Unless this CPU isnt compataible with my current mobo
