isn't prime95 /known/ for over volting too? I remember when I was Overclocking my 8350, running prime95 made the overclock unstable because it was adding some voltage. When I ran cinabench and some other stress test software (I forgot the name I'm sorry) the overclock was fine.

My case might not have been thermals related, because I already had added voltage on my CPU, but that's probably the issue you're talking about here.

Just apply this in practice for a minute and you'll see you don't really follow this standard in most conversation.

If someone asks about an ASUS motherboard, and another person replies "it's a good board, but ASUS customer service tends to be pretty bad" are you going to say "oh and everyone else's is great? Why didn't you mention this company or that company? Are you trying to say everyone has great customer service except ASUS?"

If someone is talking about Assassin's Creed Unity and they say "this game is really buggy", are you going to reply "what about every other game that's buggy? Why don't you mention them? Are you trying to suggest that every other game is great and only this one is buggy? Other games are buggy too! You can't just call out this one and none of the others!"

If someone posts an article about a new iPhone that just came out, someone reads over the specs and says "man, that's really overpriced", are you going to say "why didn't you mention the latest Samsung phone? Why didn't you mention this HTC phone over here? Are you trying to say only Apple has overpriced phones??"

    And so forth.

you're fine. CPU is still hella relevant, 16gb is perfect for games rn, nothing wrong with your board.

maybe a 1tb mass storage drive? it would help with games now a days since your average game is like...40-60gb now, some around 30. those'll take up your SSD pretty quickly

You might want another hard drive for mass storage just in case, likely a mechanical drive unless you're really willing to splash (Unless you already have one).

Apart from that looks good to me.

If everything is fine you're probably okay. but if you're scared, it doesn't really have much of a performance difference.

can't be right. Stock cooler on a AMD CPU, while running prime95 should be insanely high temps. Like everyone else is saying, try different software for your temp readers. Also a few tips since you're new at this
    1. For AMD, don't go over 60c. It can hurt your CPU.
    2. Stock cooler is horrid for Overclocking, please don't.
    3. Prime95 adds some voltage to your CPU, be wary of that if you ever add voltage for your overclock. (Tho it's not much that the program adds, it is enough to make my 8350 not be able to run prime95 at 4.6ghz without freezing my entire computer, when I can use other things just fine at 4.6ghz.)
    4. Try getting a new cooler if you're Overclocking, even a 20-25 dollar air cooler is a few step up from the stock cooler. (Hell anything is, honestly)

jett473 got a reaction from Aaron Hossain in Which AMD processor is good for gaming ?
ATX is a standard size and micro ATX is a smaller version (hence the name), but I'm sure you could've figured that out.

micro ATX is really pointless unless you're building a small form factor case because micro ATX won't have as many features as a normal ATX (less USBs on the IO, only room for 2 ram sticks or 1 GPU, etc.)

there might be issues with micro ATX not fitting properly in a ATX case but I'm not 100% on that.

that board only takes DDR2...you'd be better off getting a new one, honestly. even if it's a budget end micro atx board and you throw in a i3, it'd be a better idea then using that board.

jett473 got a reaction from Zeinone in Why are there so many models of the GTX 980Ti from a single manufacturer - EVGA?
you'd have to look at specifics on them, but for a rough idea
King pin - meant to be overclocked all to hell.
FTW - higher overclock and best cooler
SSC - super silent cooling (most likely with minor overclock)
SC - silent cooling (most likely stock)

and then the rest are probably hybrid coolers or reference.

and no, not all of them have RGB lighting, it's probably only a few.

(I'm looking at a 980ti from them too, and I honestly think the FTW edition with a backplate is the best one for me, so that's what I would recommend.)

if it's bad air flow then I'd go with your original idea of a intake on the bottom but also add a extra exhaust on top (hot air rises, again)

this way you'll have more means to get rid of that hot air, which seems to be the biggest issue here.
no problem, I know the pain of asking a specific question on here and someone going, "WELL, LET ME WRITE YOU A BOOK ABOUT THE ALTNERATIVES." it's helpful sometimes...but not what you asked for.

exhaust wouldn't make sense, hot air rises and all that bullshit.

so intake would be best, but after looking at the pictures of your rig, I don't see why you're having such bad temps, you've got a good bit of air going to the card. So...I'm not sure why you're really getting so high up there, but I say go ahead and try the extra fan.

    THIS IS TRUE.

i overclocked my GPU just a tad bit, next thing I know I was spending everyday after school for a entire week OCing my GPU and CPU.

as for getting k or non-k, I say go for the k. again, even if you don't overclock it right now, if you get a good board and a good cooler down the line, it could (like what everyone else said) eliminate or lessen a bottleneck.

At this budget a SSD is kind of just killing your budget. take it out and get a better case, maybe a decent
    cooler for your CPU?

also...750 watt PSU is not needed for this build, but it does provide good upgradabilty. you do you, better upgrade path or a bit more dosh in your pocket for other parts.
(I'd personally put the SSD and/or PSU money towards a better case, something that allows you to do some cable management in the back. maybe a NZXT case? There's some good ones for about 36-37 on pcparkpicker)
