  1. Not sure what the new card lineup is going to bring to the table and wanted to do more research before I actually posted this, though so much is on my plate it's hard to get everything done and I'd rather keep the initial post at least a bit shorter. Main pc components will be listed below. I am currently running 1080p 144hz monitor and have little to no problem with frame rates in most things I play don't mind lowering the settings a little here and there. However I have a 1440 21:9 on the way that I'm worried my card (7970) wont push. Now I have recently been upgrading random things but not many core components. I worry that by upgrading my gpu I may then have to upgrade my psu and then perhaps even my cpu due to bottle-necking. I am also back and forth on waiting for the next lineup (likely Polaris/AMD) or just ordering what I can now. If I wait I suppose I can get the older cards on an even better sale or grab up on those new features HBM and whatever else. Well that's my case let me know what you all think and hopefully help guide me on my way a bit. AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core (@ 4.6 when OCed) Phanteks PH-TC14PE_RD 78.1 CFM Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z ATX AM3+ G.Skill Sniper Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 3GB (Had MSI Lightning but had to RMA :/) NZXT Switch 810 ATX Full Tower (Don't think card size is much of an issue) SeaSonic 660W ATX12V / EPS12V (Will she get by? If not I think I'll step down from platinum this time.) Asus VG248QE 24.0 (current "primary" monitor) LG 34UC87M-B (Massdrop so it'll be a couple weeks yet probably and don't mind running at lower res until new card if need be) I had something else to add but forgot though while I'm thinking of it what is the best thing to do for / with my 7970? Part of me wants to just build a whole new rig but we have history
  2. Rig name: Beast (LOL I know right ) Cpu: 8350 Gpu: 7970 Dual X (was msi lightning but had to rma) Ram: 16 gb Score: .8 aka Not Ready No overclock atm. The GPU seems to be cause of fail I am debating on ordering a new one but not sure when to. Was hoping the next line would be released "soon". I have a 1440 ultra-wide monitor I just ordered that my gpu wont even be able to run. Was hoping I could wait it out till the new lineup, will likely have to upgrade my PSU as well.
  3. *Sigh* guess no reason to skimp on fans with the price of everything else that ends up in builds. Just ordered the Noctua's (NF-A14 PWM). Thanks again.
  4. If I went for the Noctura's I was probably going to replace them 2 at a time. The Yate Loon I was just going to storm and fill all the spaces with at once as price allows it. I was starting to lean towards the leds kinda just cause but I see the practicality and performance being higher than glam if you will. My main issue was people claiming the other fans are around 95% performance of the Noctura's, When I can get 10 of those for $70 and that only gets 3 Noc's left me teetering. I appreciate the quick responses.Suppose I shouldn't of second guessed myself. Still don't want to swallow the pill but guess it is the crème de la crème!
  5. See a lot of recommendation posts and feel bad starting a new one but I suppose everyone has their own parameters and such. I have a switch 810 with a "dying" fan, tried to remount it just in case. When PC starts up it's horribly loud, can wait a little bit, put the computer to sleep and wake it back up (or likely use fan software to lower and raise speed) and it's relatively normal. Primarily seems effected by the cold. Can also just pop off the top of the case and tap it a couple times (what I use to do). It will be warming up soon and not likely an issue for much longer but I wanted to get it fixed so my search began. I've went through a lot of reviews and am still having an issue deciding. Was going to simply order a NF-A14 PWM and then call it good. Started to think about replacing all the fans / adding some though. I don't think it's even necessary as the computer doesn't even run hot though I still like the idea. This leads into fan controllers as now my fans (stock) are all lead into the block that comes with the case supporting 6 3-pin into a molex. I have an "older board" Crosshair V Formula-Z but it of course has other fan headers that I am thinking of using over having them all in the one block. That way I can work with the speeds through Fan Xpert. Sorry this is getting drug out let me try to turn it into bullets. Need 1 fan: Might as well get a NF-A14 PWM Want: Everything! Fan models in question (4-10x 140mm): Yate Loon D14SH (With fan controller how does performance / sound change compared to others?) Yate Loon D14SM (Thinking best bet) alpenfoehn (recently heard of, haven't looked into) CFD140 (Cougar) NF-A14 PWM (Is the price worth?) Feel free to recommend & discus others Hardware fan controller, is it worth with software out nowadays? Lamptron FC5V2 NZXT Sentry 3 (NZXT AC-SEN-3-B1) Lamptron FC5 v3 After going over the LED fans and controllers that could work with led strips I started thinking about jazzing it up a bit yet again but that's a whole different topic just note it was a plus towards the fan controller though motherboards seem to be coming with nice LED headers and software now. End all I don't want regrets as it seems I am slowly replacing my entire setup and half tempted to just build a whole new rig but haven't convinced myself yet. My mother board keeps bringing me new error codes. My SSD already had to be replaced, I need to do memtest after I finish this post, was just trying to buy fans before I did but eh. Got new audio setup, desk(s), chair, mouse, mouse pad, webcam and more in the last couple months. Have a new monitor coming in that will likely force me to swap out my gpu and psu ... how do people keep up, I'm half tempted to go back to my console? Also Phanteks PH-TC14PE for what it's worth.
  6. Overall I am looking for a versatile pop-out video player, to put it simply. A quick search will bring instant results finding playthru player as adware / malware. I had one of those rush installs not reading everything and accidentally installed two items I was not expecting. No real issue the uninstall process was effortless. The only problem is that I actually liked the bugger. Playthru player left a video pop-out in the bottom of my browser / perhaps desktop. I was able to re-position and resize it among other tasks and options at ease. I enjoyed that I was able to play videos through it from several sources and link back to the material. If I was bored and lazy simply wanting something in the background adding to my multitasking I was able to pick a category and just allow the playlist to roll. I can't recall everything about it as it was swiftly exiled from my computer once I found it adding popups and such. I wasn't inclined to keep it around for fret of future ill play. Thank you in advance.
  7. Okay I was not expecting to reply to this post before actually acquiring new audio gear. I feel inclined to as I had a notification leading me back here when I went to start a different post. I think Godin_Intaki makes a very good point which I will touch on in a moment. First off though I would like to add in "swan m50w" as an alternative to "Corsair SP2500". Through all my research the Swan suit is highly revered and loved by it's owners, including many audiophiles people who've had the opportunity to use and review hundreds of cans, monitors etc. Once more I find this exceeding the price range of the original poster. For what it's worth they have moved near top of my possible purchase list though and I advise giving them a look. Back to Godin_Intaki post, I have used several surround setups headsets and home-theater based alike. I find myself usually reverting back to 2.1 however. Here from my searching I'd "currently" go with an amp by Lepai most-likely if I wanted to stay on the cheaper side and a pair of speakers through Monoprice or Wharfedale being a bit more. This option will quickly coast from sub $100 to $250ish and up depending. No offense to anyone this is just the route my personally journey has lead me and to be honest I skimmed the last quarter of the post. I'm off to continue my research and post a question of my own. Good luck, happy hunting and I hope your decision brings you happiness! EDIT: I have seen so many more things lulz first off I don't know how this forum is about outside links and I apologize if I am doing wrong by the community, just trying to help. Here >>>> https://www.reddit.com/r/zeos <<<<There (This dude seems to know his $#!+) Accompanying YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/ZeosReviews He covers 5.1 and desktop sets alike. Also I have a ways to go till I find my "setup" it's breakfast time so I'll have to return though currently I'm looking towards Micca MB42X @ $80ish W/ Dayton SUB-1200 @ $150 You may prefer Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 @ $150 (haven't looked into it too much and is 2.1 not SS though worth mention I believe) End edit Edit 2: Could be another option. http://www.amazon.com/Fluance-Surround-Theater-Speaker-AVHTB/dp/B00064JWSG/ref=pd_sim_23_4?ie=UTF8&dpID=41LG4RH6-PL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=1TBX1FKNA78MPFJ68BYB My Current build in progress: Fluance SX6-BK High Definition Two-way Bookshelf Loudspeakers-Black Dayton Audio SUB-1200 12-Inch 120 Watt Powered Subwoofer (Black) SMSL SA50 50Wx2 TDA7492 Class D Amplifier + Power Adapter (Silver) Cable Matters 16 AWG In-Wall Rated (CL2) Oxygen-Free Bare Copper Speaker Cable 50 Feet Monoprice 109436 Copper Speaker Banana Plugs Closed Screw Type (5-Pair) AmazonBasics Digital Optical Audio Toslink Cable - 6 Feet (1.8 Meters) SMSL SD793-II PCM1793 DIR9001 DAC Digital Audio Decoder Amplifier, Black Possible Sub alternatives Fluance DB-150 10 Inch 150 Watt Low Frequency Powered Subwoofer Also maybe finding a used receiver via Ebay though I'm not too comfortable picking one out. Not sure if you can do with just the SMSL SD793-II PCM1793 DIR9001 & not include SMSL SA50 still researching those.
  8. I’m sorry to pick but the “wich” vs “which” bothers me a touch, though makes your thread stand out. Anyhow I am looking for the same thing. Currently I use the built in monitor speakers when my kids are asleep unless I am gaming then I use my m50s. I have been looking for a little while now and was highly debating a pair of studio monitors but don’t think that would be the proper decision for my general use. I know I watched some YouTube videos where people had speakers strobing and swirling all sorts of colors which I suppose is a thing of its own. Then you have those that swear by their Bose sets. I personally don’t have much for actual stores around here and have to base all my purchases highly off reviews. I normally don’t mind looks so much however for some reason I find the z506 a bit tacky. I am also not 100% interested in surround personally. Think we can get a few more options listed here. I will also try to remember to come back and place my findings once I’ve arrived on a solution. Sorry that was likely more long winded than need be but eh… Hi all Edit: Think I'll look into some bluetooth / portable options. That way I could take speaker(s) to the other room to listen to music, without bothering everyone else.
