flashmz reacted to HrutkayMods in 3rd Generation core i7 3770k upgrade
It's definitely rocking lol, in fact my dad has a 3770K OC'd to edit photos, encode, and process media files, it blows the doors off most modern CPUs and gives my Sandy Bridge-E 3960X a run for its money. If you want a bit more performance give the VCore a boost and OC more and maybe add some more ram, you can go up to 32GB but, you already have 16GB that should be plenty for the forseeable future

flashmz reacted to ybriK in 3rd Generation core i7 3770k upgrade
Not worth it to upgrade, you'll be disappointed especially for gaming. Intel has been quite lazy ever since 2011, AMD needs to step up. I was expecting at least 45% IPC improvement over 3 years. OC'ing your 3770K to 4.5GHz would most likely match a stock 6700K.

"Overall, Skylake is not an earth shattering leap in performance. In our IPC testing, with CPUs at 3 GHz, we saw a 5.7% increase in performance over a Haswell processor at the same clockspeed and ~ 25% gains over Sandy Bridge. That 5.7% value masks the fact that between Haswell and Skylake, we have Broadwell, marking a 5.7% increase for a two generation gap."

flashmz reacted to Hunter7263 in 3rd Generation core i7 3770k upgrade
6700k is a good choice if gaming is your primary purpose. People praise the x99 platform but even in really well programmed games a strong single core is still very important. Im not saying in any way that the X99 platform would be a bad choice, Im just saying pick the best tool for the job.

flashmz reacted to HrutkayMods in 3rd Generation core i7 3770k upgrade
Honestly the 3770K is still a solid CPU, going to the 6700K wouldn't be that different in my opinion. The 3770K should still be a contender in 3-4Years especially with a good overclock

flashmz reacted to stealth80 in 3rd Generation core i7 3770k upgrade
if upgrading id grab the x99 platform, otherwise it aint worth it, just oc the cpu by 400mhz
-
flashmz reacted to HrutkayMods in 3rd Generation core i7 3770k upgrade
it does, I agree he should stick to the 3770K
-
flashmz reacted to HrutkayMods in 3rd Generation core i7 3770k upgrade
see if you can add some power to the VCore, but yes an x99 would be a bit better more PCIE lanes, more oriented to what you do, but honestly Ivy Bridge is still a heck of a generation, and if you're having cooling problems delid the IHS

flashmz got a reaction from Kerlen in Need help.. Mechanical Keyboard comparison
My recommendations for a gaming keyboard:
Budget keyboard: Logitech G710+ MX brown
Great deal High end Keyboard: Logitech G810 (comes with a free game - THE DIVISION) - If you are planning to buy the game, this is the best combo.
High End Keyboard: Ducky Shine 5
From all 3, I personally chose the Logitech G810.

flashmz reacted to Kobathor in Should I buy Xcom 2 or Fallout 4?
I've beat Fallout 4 two times already, and about a fourth through the last playthrough. It's a blast if you have the PC horsepower to handle it. I've seen XCom 2, and it doesn't really interest me.
Watch footage of both, and decide which one would give you more enjoyment in the long run. My opinion is Fallout, but that's just that, an opinion.

flashmz reacted to stconquest in vacuum blower for cleaning pc
I just vacuumed my pc (dropped 5 degrees, filters were clogged), with bristles too. I have used a vacuum to clean out my PC for years. I have never had a problem with it. Just don't bump sensitive parts like capacitors. As long as you do it carefully, it will be fine.

flashmz got a reaction from MrTomLA in Looking for 3 1080p monitors for under £130 each
you have 2 choices my friend:
1. Play on 3 way monitors - to accomplish this, It will be better to have the same spec monitors. This setup stresses your graphic card a lot because it must render the game on all 3 monitors.
2. Play on 1 monitor but still have a 3 monitor setup - This setup provides less stress to the graphics card as you are only rendering the game on one monitor. For this setup, you don't actually need to have the same exact model. It's going to be my current setup at the end of the month, I bought a freaking amazing center monitor (ASUS PG278Q) to play and still have 1 monitor on each side to for multitasking (DELL U2414H)
since you already have 2 24" monitors, I would advise on saving the money and buying a good Gsync 144hz Monitor (IPS or TN)

flashmz reacted to Mikius10001 in Best Keyboard Wrist Rest for Logitech G810
Technically, you shouldn't be resting your wrist while using your computer. It creates contact stress which restricts blood flow to your wrist and fingers causing carpal tunnel syndrome and potentially the loss of grip strength if you need to get surgery. (Which by the way happens more often than you think, especially these days) Buuuuut, I used to use a gel one. haha
I used something like this

But I bought it at London Drugs, not online.
