I use microsoft ergonomic keyboard which was great, but then i spilled my drink on it so now i need to get a new one. what's a good keyboard for around $40? thank you in advance.
  5. would this be good? https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Snagless-Ethernet-White/dp/B00B3VWUBW/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1532283687&sr=1-3&keywords=ethernet+cable+cat6+150ft
  6. hello, I need to run about 150-200ft of ethernet wire from my router to another room in the house. I have seen flat cat 6 wires for sale and they seem really cheap. Why are these less than the other wires that are cylindrical? Also what's best for me to get a cat 5 or cat 6 in terms of performance? Are there any brands you would like to recommend? thank you!
  7. i was thinking about corsair too, i like a lot of their other products except the over priced ssd
  8. any links to items would be appreciated too
  9. it's not only the dpi, the mouse is just old. wheel is broken and doesn't work properly, the side stickers came off a long time ago. It's time to replace it
  10. hey everyone, i'm looking to purchase a new mouse. I have a razer death adder right now, but it's way too sensitive for me. I play mostly fps games and once in a while an MMO. Any suggestions from the community?
  11. final update. tech came out to the house. he checked the lines and everything looked normal. he even replaced the router. The only thing he mentioned that could be causing the problem is the strange way it was being wired into the house. He said some of the wires don't do anything and they could be send some feedback that might be disrupting the signal. He said he unplugged those, but unfortunately no change. Either cable isn't as good as I remember it to be or the issue still evades detection.
  12. i understand, but how do i explain this to the ISP so their tech knows what to look for or what to do? Thanks again for the help!
  13. when i changed the dns the latency seems to have decreased, but the lag is still as bad. I can't play any fps, it's awful. I see the latency jump from 60ms to 90ms (after changing DNS) which doesn't seem like a lot, but as far as the actual experience of it the lag is still the same. I'll call the ISP, but i'm pretty sure they will charge a lot for it.
  14. I heard about that too and already tried. the time of day makes no difference. I even woke up early at 4am to check and was having the same exact problems.
  15. it happens on all devices. I have a laptop i play on and I get the same issues, our smart tv sometimes doesn't load youtube/netflix we have to reload it a few times before it starts working.
  16. i did both earlier, i'm still experiencing the same problem. The improvement I think was in my head lol. I'm getting the same boomerang lag as before.
  17. I can't find any db values. I did find a bunch of errors, not sure if this helps.
  18. The tech explained to us that the outside line was fiber and they connect that to a box on the side of the home which then routs a coax cable into the modem/router. What do you need me to look up? I appreciate you guys helping me, thank you.
  19. no, i mean it's fiber line outside and they run it into a box on the side of the house from there they run a copper cable into a coax modem. Around here I think all the ISPs do it like that. We had the same setup with verizon fios. Idk about paying for static ip, i guess it depends how much it costs. I'll have to get back to that option, but I appreciate the input. edit: what statistics do you need me to find?
  20. as mentioned in previous post the ISP is Spectrum. We don't have DSL it's fiber going into a coaxial modem. The issue is happening on both WiFi and Ethernet cable. Changing the DNS did help a lot, but I'm still getting some minor lag instead of the major lag/disconnects I had earlier. Not sure what else to do at this point other than try static IP as @Windows7ge suggested
  21. I'm still getting a little bit of lag, but it definitely helped a lot because when I do get lag I don't even have time to notice it lol. I might have to do a static IP on it because I'm also having problems with the printer. For some reason we have to reboot the printer every time we want to print from it. I read online that other people had a similar issue with the Brother DCW-L2540 and they changed it to a static IP in printer properties. I checked mine and it was already setup as static IP, but for some reason when we don't use the printer for a few days and try printing from it then it won't work. Is there any advantage to having a static IP? Would it impact my vpn in anyway?
  22. This is what I have in the router now. and but when I do ipconfig /all i get the same thing also I rebooted the router and pc after making the changes, but it's still showing the same thing.
  23. Brilliant, I used google's DNS. I'll test tomorrow and update with results.
