  1. to note i currently have a 2600x on my list and its breaking my budget atm, looking for something a little better priced.
  2. I am going for ryzen in my new system, strictly for gaming and is gonna be paired with a 2070. which ryzen cpu is best for gaming and is overclockable?
  3. because thats the typical retail price for windows 10 home and because i don't need the extra performance from a 2080 on a 1080p 60 hz monitor. i also dont plan on upgrading to a 2k or 4k anytime soon so i dont see the benefit of a 2080. plus the included cooler on a 1700x is pretty shoddy and cant do any overclocking from what ive seen and if i change to a 1700x and throw a cooler in as well aaand change to a 2080 the price goes out of my budget range.

  5. talking about something like this? https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157835&Description=x470&cm_re=x470-_-13-157-835-_-Product
  6. i was origionally thing for getting a view 31 but im semi worried about graphics card space in the 31 in case i end up upgrading at some point to a bigger graphics card and not having enough space. i will check out the x470 though
  7. carrying over my SSD as well as my 850W gold rated power supply which should be plenty enough for what i have here but yea. also the reason i picked a really high end cpu is because of the cooler that comes with it as well as futureproofing and it is within budget with the cpu cooler included. also threw in a tool kit since ive been doing a lot of computer building as of late and its just handy to have a tool kit ready to use in case i need it and all i have right now is a magnetic screw driver which i dont really like to use for obvious reasons... I'm also focusing on some RGB for this build since ive never really had too much RGB in my computers and it would be nice to have a sweet looking gaming build for once x) PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant Type Item Price CPU AMD - Ryzen 7 2700X 3.7 GHz 8-Core Processor $319.99 @ SuperBiiz Motherboard MSI - B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC ATX AM4 Motherboard $139.99 @ B&H Memory G.Skill - Trident Z RGB 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory $134.99 @ Newegg Business Video Card Gigabyte - GeForce RTX 2070 8 GB AORUS Video Card $599.99 @ Amazon Case Thermaltake - View 71 TG RGB ATX Full Tower Case $168.78 @ B&H Operating System Microsoft - Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit $98.89 @ OutletPC Other Rosewill RTK-045 45 Piece Computer Tool Kit $22.99 @ Newegg Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total (before mail-in rebates) $1495.62 Mail-in rebates -$10.00 Total $1485.62 Generated by PCPartPicker 2018-11-28 15:46 EST-0500
  8. one day while using my computer i kept getting a black screen, then when i tried starting it back up i got no display. Checked the gpu and the fans are not spinning at all and it isnt being detected. all power cables are plugged in and i tried reseating it and cleaning it out to no luck. Is it dead? I get onboard graphics just fine so i know it isnt the motherboard or the power supply and the pc used to work totally fine on this GPU for a long time.
  9. this is what im looking at utilization-wise in odyssey right now, around 60-70% cpu usage in benchmark and pretty much a constant 100% in gpu usage.
  10. well in my benchmarks for odyssey in particular my gpu was pretty much at a constant 100% and my cpu was around 40-50%
  11. the only reason im looking into upgrading is because in some of the games i play i see dips to 30 or lower fps in games like witcher 3 and assassins creed odyssey. every other game i play runs great though for the most part usually in the 40-60 range so im not concerned there, most with A. futureproofing and B. making sure any game i run on my current monitor runs at 40-60, not just most.
  12. i got a 850 watt psu so im good there so if i downgrade to the 1080 non ti version and uninclude the psu andm aybe throw in a new case with the extra money, im looking at a decent build methinks.
  13. i play in 1080p with 60hz, nothing fancy, thinking about upgrading to 2k in the future but no nearby plans for 4k.
  14. that does make sense, and with the price drop (im looking at a budget of roughly $1200) that would allow me a lot of wiggle room for a new cpu/ram/mobo setup.
  15. so im guessing it matters less the amount and more to the type? like ddr4 vs ddr5 and such? and would the gpu cause a larger bump in performance vs the cpu?
  16. would i see much of a performance boost from a standard 1080 or vega 64 vs what i currently have? all of them have 8 gigs of vram and i know there is more to that but i know ill be getting enough for a 1080ti and i think i would probably see a much larger boost in performance from a card with 11 gigs of ddr5 vram, also i should note im gonna be done with amd cards, i love the price point for the most part but the software and drivers in my opinion have been awful to me.
  17. Many things, I play anything from indie titles to lately ive been playing assassins creed odyssey and anything in between. GTA 5, arma 3 etc etc.
  18. Currently have a i7 2600 cpu which turbo boosted runs up to around 3.7-3.8 ghz on average, and my gpu is a r9 390 sapphire nitro 8G vram, im thinking for gaming performance it would probably be more efficient to upgrade to a 1080ti or something for raw performance but my CPU is pretty old, the motherboard and ram has been replanced but ive carried this CPU over many times and is pretty old. What do you guys think?
  19. update, windows makes a detection sound like when plugging something into usb and then the disconnection sound when it flashes and lags...?
  20. im thinking maybe i might have bumped it when installing the cooler possibly? but they seemed pretty secure so i dunno.
  21. UGH, problem persists, just installed the new SSD which should have been the only thing causing the issue and i still get monitor flashing and lag spikes, not nearly as severe as before but still as consistent, any other suggestions? I am possibly thinking it is a RAM issue at this point but it worked fine up until i installed my new CPU cooler so i dont know why ram (which is still new) could suddenly be an issue now?
  22. Sadly that also means i will have to buy an operating system x.x lol expenses expenses... this computer is becoming a project car lol
  23. Well i figure if I'm relaxing i might as well upgrade, i have a tb wd blue right now i was thinking of going for a 4 tb wd black harddrive
  24. This makes sense, ive held onto this old harddrive for probably over 6 years, i had a feeling it was the harddrive. Is a ssd really worth it though? I know their fast but they have a limited write cycle and i install and install often with gaming.
  25. And i know it's not a ram issue because i just got brand new ram not too long ago
