  1. why wouldn't it? it does it own thing and leaves the OS alone, the os doesn't know it's files are stored in two locations the fact that a linux distro works is common sense, also when a new hardware is being developed, a linux distro is used because the os allows the dev to interact with the hardware and change values on the fly with some more advanced distros... i wouldn't be surprised that Intel developed the hardware on linux to get the base device working, then switched over to windows to refine the device and fix any problems with it and how it works on a windows environment
  2. too much work and we stay online longer which puts us at risk more of getting something yes, this is inconvenient, but it's safer and allows us to clean the network out of infections to try and stop the infection
  3. no one can do work, at all everything we do is stored on the servers, and until this is over no-one can work so the boss and i agreed to get everyone to stay home until this is over and work can continue
  4. want a joke? (google's joke's) Tell me everything you know...I have a few seconds to waste
  5. the second i heard this i shut down works network, scanned all of the computers, wiping any infected ones, and ones that had any signs at all, some that didn't but i did anyways, and i will keep the network offline until this has died down and no longer a security risk ah the life of an IT Admin.... it's stress inducing.... my blood pressure is prob though the roof past pluto and nearing the edge of our solar system...
  6. this is steven, he was a ransomware addit steven: i used them at least 5 times a day, i couldn't stop.... but steven got help and you can to... call 1800-GiveMeBitcoinYouScrub and you too can get help don't do ransomware kids... this could be a good idea for a video, get a "don't do drugs" video and modify it so it's ransomware instead of drugs genius! i will start editing one as soon as i get home (thats if i remember)
  7. they will, they always screw up with a new thing they add to windows, it's become the norm for them their biggest mistakes are: windows ME, vista and 8 look at how they were received. 8 had to have a update to fix a lot of its flaws, vista was never used to it's high hardware requirements and ME was just s**t at launch crashing when it had the chance
  8. knowing microsoft they should fix it, but the one thing they refuse to fix and patch is a virus known as: cortana..... man she is annoying.....
  9. i use chrome to view pdfs and don't forgot to add: "unless you are a web developer, don't know better because you aren't a computer guy or don't know better browsers exist"
  10. vmware vs virtualbox they are both free, but vmware workstation 12 (the only free one) has no support for newer hardware (the last thing they added support for was the anniversary update for their drivers) virtualbox has support for newer hardware and support for addons for extra functionality, but, it can be annoying for a new user to use, some OS's flat out don't want to work (third party ones are known to have problems, debian is known to have problems) and drivers are a hassel to work with
  11. most rack servers take 2.5" drives, not 3.5", get some NAS 3.5" drives online (not ebay, they might be near the end of their life) and stick them into the server and configure them to your needs
  12. yep, done it, not fun.... at all....
  13. most people use adobe reader to view pdfs, so this bug is probably not very well documented because of that
  14. thats fun for me, so long as it's a "every once in awhile" type of problem that can be fixed if it's EVERY DAY, f**k that! no hell way will i do that! also if thats for work, thats a potential security risk, i have been fired many times because if this exact reason, because their was a security risk that i didn't know about, didn't do anything about it, something bad happened and then got fired in the process... if, say, 365 got hacked, your account is at risk of being accessed and confidential data could be leaked and used against the organization never trust cloud services, always setup your own for the organization with secure tools and never use public services, EVER.
  15. deep learning man.......
  16. i use exchange server to exchange stuff from my computer to my server! haha most likely, it's the first thing you should check, they do this so organizations have to switch to their business plan to avoid this problem, us prosumers are stuck with this problem every time i never run it in a virtual machine, i have had too many problems with that, so many in fact that if i list them all, i would hit a word count on the forums, thats how many i have had but i will list one: fails to register domain sometimes after a week of use, it happen again, and again, and again, and again you get the jist..... i just gave up on it and switched to a physical machine
  17. if they release new GPUs, my new rig will be postponed by a couple of months, AGAIN! seriously, i might as well wait till my birthday to get a new rig....it's been on hold for 3-5 months! and broken, burnt computer parts sell for nothing on ebay! so it's harder to get new parts!
  18. it's the original quote.... thats what that russian guy said during that sports game.....
  19. my mind is implanted with explosives hooked up to a mind-blown detector, so when my mind is blown, my mind explodes, for real....
  20. good specs for your use, linux is a great option to do something like this, it's recommended to get something like FreeNAS or similar, since you haven't used linux before, i usually recommend ubuntu to users new to linux, but people on here disagree and recommend FreeNAS, since i don't want to start a flame war between linux users, i'm just going to recommend FreeNAS for you
  21. finally, maybe VR games can be muti-platform now!
  22. my fav thing to say to people who rage on overwatch: (russian accent) "is only game, why you have to get mad?"
  23. i wanted to see those memory chips! edit: those chips look EXACTLY like GDDR5 except that they have different writing and they are faster i wanted to see ones that at least hold 16GBs per chip! OR DIFFERENT COLORED CHIPS! is that too much to ask!!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?
