  1. It's not that, I do like the Nvidia Software. But I would prefer the Nvidia GPU to sleep, unless its needed. That would definitely improve the battery life. I use an additional monitor with my laptop most of the time, I have noticed that the Nvidia GPU is constantly running between 5 to 15% at "Balance" or "Power Saver" mode on battery and between 5% - 23% when plugged in, with just a webpage open on the second monitor, or a presentation slide. With the older setup ( GTX980m), the Nvidia GPU came on as it was needed, for just normal web browsing and presentation the HD530 for enough. Then again, i got this computer for GTX1070, so I shouldn't be complaining. Truly surprised by the performance over the GTX980M.
  2. I was thinking that aswell. The HDMI 2.0 Port must be connected directly to the Nvidia GTX 1070. In the Nvidia settings page it shows that only the VGA port is on Intel, and both the Mini DP and HDMI are on GTX 1070. The laptop is the " Gigabyte P37X V6 4K" anyone knows if the HDMI is directly connected to the GTX 1070?
  3. Just bought a new laptop with Nvidia 1070. It also had the Intel HD530 integrated graphics solution. My previous laptop had the same Intel solution and Nvidia GTX 980M. On my old laptop with the GTX 980M when i plugged in a monitor in the HDMI port the Intel HD530 would pick it up, I can control and configure the settings using the intel software, on my new laptop the Nvidia 1070 picks up the monitor plugged in the HDMI port. The Intel software doesn't even show a second second display. My question is, is there a way to switch the HDMI port setting so that the Intel HD530 picks it up as default, and switches to Nvidia as needed. SPECS: OS: WIN 10 PRO CPU: i7 6700 HQ GFX: Onboard Intel HD530 + GTX 1070 Port in question: HDMI 2.0
  4. Yes. I agree with you on the durability part. Cooling wise they both seems like they are very similar, although I've read some where that the Gigabyte is a bit louder then the MSI.
  5. No not too much travel at the moment. and do you have an ETA on the Pascal update?
  6. I was thinking the same at first but then saw the P35x V5, for almost the same price, it has 980M and more Option for internal storage. So question is would you choose spec over build quality or do you think they are not that different? Just wanted to add that I do keep my computers for a few years, My current laptop I bought end of 09, upgraded the ram and switched to a SSD about year and a half ago. So which ever one i get i'll prob keep for a few years.
  7. Looking for a new laptop for Work & Gaming, more towards the Slim side. Narrowed down to the MSI GS60 Ghost Pro 4k-238 ( matte Display) and the Gigabyte P35x V5. What do you guys recommend, and why would you choose one over the other?
  8. Guys and Gals, I need some advice / help or a punch in the face. I have a Gigabyte GA-990FX Gaming motherboard, I am running a 256Gb Samsung 950Pro NVMe SSD (OS and few other things) in the M.2 port and 2 intel 535 SSD in Raid0 for storage. Issue that I cant figure out is my Mobo Bios does not show any device when you select the NVMe device option under peripherals. I mean it works, I am running WIN 10 Pro, and using the SAMSUNG Magician software in windows, it does show that its a NVMe drive. But the performance is not consistence. Some time I get 1372 Seq read speed, some time 870.3 and so on. My CPU is the AMD FX-8320. so the question is, am i just dumb, and have some mismatch going on, or am I missing some thing?
