  1. The hardware by itself yeah, but if that was all that mattered "Rebuilding My VERY FIRST Gaming PC!" wouldn't have been a very interesting video.
  2. Thought this was a hella cool piece of both gaming and tech history and wanted to share. Full credit goes to /u/merkaloid on Reddit. These are some pictures of the original 2009 game servers used by League. Some specs: 2x Intel Xeon 5430 4 core CPUs 8x 1GB PC2-5300 DDR2 RAM 1x Western Digital 256GB Hard Drive Original post:
  3. Unfortunately the furthest I've gotten to a boot is the DRAM LED. That being said, I noticed today my specific RAM kit is not on the QVL (probably because of a last minute change from 3200 CL 16 to 3600 CL18). The folks over at PCMR's discord have suggested grabbing a kit on the QVL just to make sure, and returning the current sticks. Thanks again for the help, hopefully this was indeed the issue.
  4. Apologies, I misread your response - upon further testing this only happens with one.
  5. Both, one, none, regardless of slots used. Solid DRAM light and the only exception is when it's a single stick in the 3rd slot (which is wrong, should be second) in which I get a CPU light.
  6. Ordered a new one, thanks for the advice. Do you think the DRAM light is also a psu issue?
  7. Carried over from an older build. Isn't it safe as its an EVGA?
  8. I've reseated it in every configuration I can think of. No for the XMP, as it's not even reaching BIOS.
  9. Specs: AMD Ryzen 7 3700x MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max G.SKILL Ripjaws V 3600mhz CL18 2x8GB EVGA 2080 Super BLACK EVGA 500 Watt (100-W1-0500-KR 500) ASUS PCE-AC56 Wifi Card ... and assorted storage in a Corsair Spec-05 case. Issue is title; the system powers on, all fans turn on, the system is stable (no random shutdowns or power downs) but the troubleshooting light on the motherboard is stuck on DRAM. I've tried everything listed here except for beeping (no speaker available) and trying it on another system (also not available): Additionally, I've flashed the BIOS to the latest version on the MSI website but no luck. The only thing of value I've found is that when trying with a single stick of RAM, the third slot turns on the CPU light instead of the DRAM light for some reason. Otherwise, every configuration of 1, 2 or even no sticks results in a red DRAM light. Thanks in advance for the help! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATE: FIXED! The issue was indeed a combination of incompatible ram and DOA ram (talk about an unlucky kit). Check your QVLs people, better to be safe than sorry it seems.
  10. Hey LTT community, I'm a university student studying Computer Science at the University of Toronto. Much like the LTT team, I have been a long time advocate of the 2nd hand electronics market and frequent communities such as /r/hardwareswap and heatware - both to save money, but also to reduce the amount of electronic waste that is produced nowdays. The biggest issue I have with the second hand market right now is that its pretty difficult for those with less tech knowledge to enter the market. They don't know where to focus their budget, what "the numbers" mean, etc. and as a result most people just end up buying cheaper electronics new; less value for them, but also more electronic waste. As a result, prices for most devices on sites such as Ebay or Facebook marketplace are often higher than they should be, leading to the used electronics market being quite... dead. I'm starting up a side project which will help those with less technological know-how so that the general public can better price their used devices, as well as have a good idea how much they should be paying for other people's old devices on websites such as ebay or kijiji. That being said, its not a simple process - a lot of things have to be considered when pricing old electronics, such as the original manufacturer (@Microsoft and Apple tax), specs, new tech dropping the value of existing devices (think Ryzen launch) etc. For obvious reasons, I'd like this to be as accurate as possible. With this in mind, what do you consider when buying and selling your old devices? Thanks in advance!
  11. Self explanatory, just setting up my profile today (not an active user by ANY means) and realized that LTT has yet to add Discord to the list of other social media accounts.
  12. An Evoluent vertical mouse 4 (ohmy) A SADES SA708 and my laptop keyboard. Honestly the mouse is really comfortable for work, but its bulky and terrible for gaming.
  13. The PF1000U is pretty amazing, projecting such a large image while being so close to the surface being projected on. I have to admit though, the price is probably the biggest bottleneck (heh) for anyone interested in such a target. The concept of reflecting the image is something I've only previously seen on smartboards, and am quite interested to see a comparison between this and a, say, Smartboard. TL;DR Looks like a great product with a premium price to go with it.
  14. The mouse would be amazing; I'm using an Evoluent vertical mouse at the moment and it is horrible for just about everything asides from casual web browsing. Best of luck to everyone!
  15. I'm trying to build a new computer for my father, and this would save me a ton of money (I'm only 15 and right now my budget consists of Chinese New Year's money). He never spends money on himself and is using a Toshiba A100 that used to belong to my sister while I find myself gaming on a Lenovo Y-50, but despite this he always refuses to spend money on himself. I kind of want to surprise him on his birthday which is coming up in a few months. Well, that's my reason. Best of luck to everyone else!
