  1. I swear, i put the printer 3 times on my table, i opened it from the back, i opened it from the front, i disassembled and cleaned the fuser, i removed almost everything, even the toner waste box, nothing, i did not see it. I saw that piece of paper only when i took the printer and went inside the elevator. I rotated it almost 90° degrees when i was inside the elevator trying to push the Ground floor button, and i noticed in the mirror in front of me that there was something strange. When i gave a better look, i realized that there was a paper there. The hard part was not screaming at the one that tried to print duplex at the third jam without removing the first stuck paper I had the same issue. Solved the problem by using a cleaning solution and pushing the solution with a syringe applying pressure from the top and draining all the solution from the bottom. You waste a lot of time and risk to make a huge mess, and you have to work in a well ventilated area. Would not suggest.
  2. Problem solved: THE PROBLEM WAS THE USER The last one that used the printer tried to print 3 pages after the first one was stuck, and then acted like nothing happened. I will try not to pass like the fool by posting the image of the UNDERSIDE of the printer, where a paper should not be. The first paper was stuck and then pushed more and more under the printer by all the failed attempts to print, and even my failed attempts to print when i was trying to understand what was going on. Anyway. I opened the printer from the underside, where the paper was jammed, and removed that wrinkled and half printed page that was causing all that fuss. @AMDX9 Since it was user's fault, i can still suggest that printer (in particular, mine was a brother MFC 9140CDN). Toners and drums are separate parts, and you can find all the spares you will need.
  3. First of all, i chose a laser printer because there were weeks/months in which i do not use the printer (and the ink inside the inkjet jams). I don't know how to describe, so i'll try to describe my use: more users, printer on LAN, few pages every other day, most of the pages (20-30 duplex) in one day. I have a similar experience, but i did not have problems with canon inkjet (almost 20 years ago) nor with epson inkjet. The difference between epson and other inkjet is that you buy only the ink, while other brands sells even the nozzle; the second nozzle is cheaper, but it's probably better, since you change it every 2 months (and you change if the ink jams). That's what i did before buying the laser AiO. I used a hp laser b/w and a color inkjet. When the hp did not have problems (because drivers are shit) the inkjet ink was dried out, you had to clean the nozzle. I cannot use inkjets because while there are weeks where i print 60-70 pages, there are other weeks (or months) that i print none. I opened it, cleaned the fuser from the back, and now the paper gets stuck a bit further (in fact now it prints one side, then goes back to print the other side, then do not print and spit me the page printed only on 1 side saying that there is a paper jam - errata corrige, probably it was just a case, i cleaned again the front side, the paper gets stuck on the back). I never took out of the printer a page that was ripped and i found nothing inside, so... I'd say it's not that case. About the fact that is intricate and a lot of moving parts, you're right, it's intricate etc, but that's what i paid 380 bucks for. I mean, if you'd told me: "the printer does duplex, but only 4000 copies", probably i'd not buy the printer at all, looking elsewhere. I chose that printer because it was for small business market, so i tought: "well, it will last!" - ah, the irony Anyone ever used other printers like oki, or olivetti (etc)? I know that Oki has great reputation between office copiers, those bulky things 4 or 5 feet tall, but don't know anything about them in small business printers
  4. My opinion of HP is a bit strange: while there are products that i loved like the laserjet 1018 (it worked fine, the only problem was with drivers because HP chose to not develop properly), i used hp's laboratory's products, and they work flawlessly, as lots of their business notebook, while others of their products are so bad it's simpler to throw your money out of the window. This discourages me, because it's like a lottery, and i don't want a product that will last me few months (i am already disappointed because this brother lasted 2 years and ~5000 pages)
  5. Hello, i'm writing here to ask you guys for your advice. Something around 2 years ago (right now i cannot recall, i'm looking for the receipt) i bought a brother all in one color laser printer, specifically, it's a MFC-9140CDN. Recently it failed, it's not printing duplex any more, every time i try it, it prints one side, then the paper gets stuck. I tried cleaning but did not fix the problem. Probably tomorrow i'll pick up the receipt and take it to the store where i bought it for support. The problem is that if something broke (the guy on the phone talked about fuser or the drum) and the unit is out of warranty it will cost me half the price of a new unit, or the same price of a new unit (the printer costs around 230€, the fuser costs 120€ and the drum kit costs 90€; a bit more on brother's site); considering the prices, i'm more willing to buy a new printer than repairing the one i'm using. This unit did not show the reliability i was expecting from a brother printer, i finished the toner that was with the printer, the one that should let you print around 500 pages, and i the second standard toner i'm using is about 70% of its capacity (let's say i printed around 4000-5000 pages, even if they were all duplex, it's too few) Since there is a chance i will have to buy a new printer, i'm asking you guys: are there some brands that show a better reliability over others? What do you suggest? All the other brands (OKI, HP, xerox, samsung, dell...) have a color laser printer all in one with ethernet (or wi-fi, i don't care) in my price range of 200-260€. I previously had a usb monochrome HP laser, and the only issue was with the driver (i had to correct them, because HP did not want to correct them and they asked me 20 bucks to give me support) and i used a big xerox copier with LAN support and the only problem was to understand which driver to install on later windows because the printer was probably 10-20 years old.
  6. What does "big scan" means? What have you done? Antivirus, fscan? If it was a false positive, you have to fix it, making another scan will not do anything
  7. Well, if you have another computer, you could burn a dvd with MSDART on it, then boot from it. From there (or from a linux live cd) you will be able to see the log, that will point the error. If it was after a major update, it's a partition error, if it's only after a scan, maybe the antivirus messed up (a false positve, i hope)
  8. Actually, it can be a motherboard issue. Is everything clean and in good shape? Temperatures (even PSU one, if you have an IR thermometer) If not, put everything out, on a non-conductive surface, clean it and try to boot. Then, check the voltages.
  9. Did you plug the 4pins or 3 pins connectors from PSU to GPU? mid to high end GPUs draw power not only from motherboard, but even from PSU. Did you plug it? If yes, has the PSU enough power? Do you hear some beeps? (is the beeper connected?) have you checked both video outputs? Do you have any error display?
  10. I'd test the keyboard on another (or more) computers. If it doesn't work, it can be a faulty keyboard. It happens
  11. Fixed, i suppose. Even if people that don't use neither shaving cream or soap, are really rare today
  12. Hi guys! Just curious how you take care of your beard, so let's talk about that. I was a Gillette customer, and i really liked the mach3, when the new razor came into market, i tried the new fusion, it didn't end well, i had way more irritations than before, so i began searching for "other solutions". That's how i bought my first disposable freehand razor (because i had way less irritation when i went to my barber shop, and because i did not want to waste 14 bucks for 4 sets of blades every 2 or 3 months); I was afraid of cutting my head off, i must admit it, but it ended very well, so, after a couple of weeks using those few disposable freehand razors (there are 2 types, and i bought some of each), i bought one of those freehand razors with disposable blades. This literally opened a new world for me, so i changed everything i was using, making my shaving more like a rite: i bought a pre shave cream, potash alum, and some balm for my beard and stache. Years have passed, and that's what I'm using. Today, while i was shaving, I thought of making a new topic, with poll, here. So we can talk about how we shave, and share some tricks. Don't forget to post your rigs!
  13. It's clear: most of us didn't like the video, and we already stated why. It seems forced, it does not seem natural, like others video, etc etc. What i didn't like was the lack of information. Linus: you usually stress the things that you have to review, you test them, you put them in a situation that most of us, your followers, are used to (like overclock, or the phone test under sea water), or try the most insane thing to test its full potential (like 7 gamers 1 build). I hope i have explained my thoughts well 'til now. Honestly, i'd prefer to know when the electric motor works, or at what speed it turns off, or what is its mileage at slow speed, or at high speed, how convenient it is: things i'd look for if i had to choose a car like this. After telling this: i'm asking you guys, can you tell me why they don't make diesel-electric hybrids? Diesel motors are more efficient, if i want to go for high mileage, i'd go for diesel-electric hybrid, honestly. Why only 25 miles (40 km)? That's useless for most of us: i'm considering my home-to-university trip: it's just a bit more than 20 miles (33km), 19 (29km) of those are on highway (12miles@75mph - 19km@120kmh,and the other 7miles@45mph - 10km@70kmh) and only 1mile (3km) in urban traffic. If i want to use a solution like this, (i'm assuming it is like the older priuses, in which the electric motor turns off when you go faster, like highways) my batteries would be only something heavy in my car, since i would use them in less than 40% of my way, that would go up to 50% if i consider the way to work (that is closer to where i live). Is it really an upgrade from my old golf mk5, that consume "only" 1.6liters (or 0,42 gallons) of diesel on my way to the university campus? - Please consider that right now there are no charging ports in my university. In my honest opinion, solutions like this is only smoke in the eye. I prefer looking at a bmw i3 Rex, that is literally full electric, and only a tiny motor to recharge batteries when you are in need, that something like the prius. And guys, i really want to jump on that train: i really wish the next car i'm buying is using an electric motor for most of its needs, and the internal combustion engine is used only when needed. But i cannot afford right now a Mclaren P1
  14. Remove motherboard from chassis, put it on a non conductive surface, remove all the peripherals, clean with a brush from dust etc, see if it does the same thing. It can be caused by shorts. Then check all the capacitors, test the PSU, etc. If it starts, plug peripherals one by one, and try booting the computer. While i was writing... I tought, isn't it a BSOD, right? Check if it is caused by BSOD. Disable reboot on BSOD
