  1. May have. Noted. Perhaps 8 core processors from Matisse could handle the Pro4's overclocking capabilities. At one point, I was discouraged by the AB350M Pro4's criticisms on overclocking capabilities and considered the A320M Pro4 and not do any overclocking at all . The AB350M Pro4 is a great overclockable motherboard for Ryzen 5 and lower. I'm TEMPTED to get a M.2 as the boot drive and the other SSD as the Steam/gaming storage. I'll find a way squeeze in more money and anticipate November deals.
  2. Been a while... Eh. I wanted to scratch an itch of not being to build a rig after a year, so here's something for my brother to get come the holidays. It's a $318 usd starter budget build that can beat his old-ass 2007 laptop and can be upgraded further. Well, the A8-9600 was on sale last month so I carpe-diemed and bought one at $65. The lack of Ryzen can be rectified by my brother by obtaining more money on his own to upgrade to a 1600 or to next year's Raven Ridge/Pinnacle Ridge processors. I don't know what he'll be interested in doing that requires more than 4 cores/8 threads, so I leave it to him. Based on Buildzoid's tinkering with the AB350M pro4, the 8 core/16 thread CPUs will be avoided. He may come to the bandwagon, eventually. 2nd, any other confirmations that Samsung M378A5244CB0-CRC DRAMs work with ab350m pro4?? I found 3 CPU-Z Validator links on rigs with Asrock mobos+said RAM, but I'd like more feedback on that. 3rd, considering the Carbide 88r's front panel+small crevices for air intake, would it be ideal to use 120mm lower-rpm fans on the front and then set the high-rpm 120mm fans on top?? On that too, which fan hub would be ideal for 5 case fans?? 4th, I'll warn him that the R7 graphics on the A8 won't handle today's games and can suggest sticking with the old Eidos!Core Tomb Raider games, Fallout 1/2, other old games or easy to run games from Steam. I intend to give this build my EVGA GTX 1060 6GB FTW+ as a birthday present next year while I upgrade to a Nvidia Volta/AMD Navi consumer GPU. 5th, will not let go of the CD drive. My brother has his old Tomb Raider game disks on him and my Windows 10 installation media is a CD. Help if possible, don't help because it doesn't have Ryzen, thanks.
  3. Crazy, right? Sure, I shot myself in the foot for buying a pitiful Acer S200HQL GBD on sale for nearly $60. Regardless, I want the strongest GPU I can afford at this time. So, how can I fix the potential problems with using the recently released 1070 with an inferior, discouraged display setting?? And if so possible to fix, will there be a bottleneck problems if my CPU's a Intel Xeon E3-1246 V3?? I want to play DOOM at Ultra-Nightmare, while every other game like Killer Instinct and Quantum Break should have similar to better graphics settings to their Xbox One versions.
  4. About the upcoming GTX 1000 series cards... Not going for the Founder's Edition. I've settled with going for a reference cooler for my ITX rig but there's no way I'm shelling out $500+ for an early edition. Obviously, I like reading benchmarks, there's Computex 2016 to look forward to and I'm dead set on getting a AIB-made Pascal-type GPU regardless of the wait. That said, who has experience with any of MSI/ASUS/EVGA's blower-type graphics cards?? Or is Reference cooling subpar to the best known custom cooling GPU's? For better reference, I run 5 fans on my rig. 1 main 140mm fan for intake and 2 80mm plus 2 120mm fans for exhaust. Could I go for custom in place of a reference card in this case??
  5. The 360 wired controller is cheaper than the One's wired controller (rather go for MS, not a 3rd party company making custom 360/One controllers), I've had lingered memories about the previous 360's I've owned. My brother currently owns a 360. Sad that MS has shut down production of the 360, but I'm moving on. While the 360 wired controller is compatible with the PC, can the chatpad attached to the controller work as well? I'd like to try this out doing mundane things like surfing the web or chatting up on people. Or type cheats on New Vegas.
  6. So, any Intel users here with Skylake who use Handbrake?? I'd like to know how the I7-6700 (normal or K, if possible) can use Handbrake to convert 720p x265 HEVC matroska videos into 720p x264 mp4 videos. Sure, a complete waste of time since HEVC's also available in the mp4 format, but I'm a Handbrake guy and I like to test. The Xeon E3-1246 V3 that's on my rig can currently convert the aforementioned video specs to the desired video format at 110-130fps average and one video being converted in 4 minutes, 7 if it's an hour-long episode. So yeah, I'd like to know if Skylake can get mach-5 speeds in Handbraking x265 HEVC matroskas into x264 mp4's.
  7. I need an appropriate refresher on how ID rolled out DOOM 3 during its year of release. I've been told by some people that at the time the game was released, not a lot of videocards were able to run it right. Yeah, the 4th one's gonna go for open beta next week and Beth hasn't made any final decisions on what's truly the expected specs for the game. I'm being cautious, even though recent videos on the 4th's closed beta seem optimistic in that the 970 can really run the game.
  8. Both the 970 cards I'm currently looking at have backplates. Anyone else have input on cooling solutions?
  9. Of the two companies, which is better when it comes to graphics card cooling? After Nvidia's GTC2016 spiel today, I'm done waiting. I'm now on the planning phase and I'll get a videocard at the end of this month. Oh, and yeah, Pascal? I'd rather do something in Nvidia's coffee lounge than wait for Pascal.
  10. Currently, a X300 5TB hard drive costs $151 at Micro Center and I'm totally tempted to get it, plus I can reach a MC store via transit. Based on experience, the 1TB Toshiba laptop hard drive inside my PS3 is still alive and reliable after a year, but when it comes to desktop hard drives, people like it and don't. Currently, my PC just needs an archive HD, nothing too fancy. Anyone have input with this series of internal hard drives??
  11. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Hk3Pt6 No intention to overlock, playing DOOM, Killer Instinct, maybe Quantum Break at 1080p, normal settings. Though I made this list solely because I should have went for the Hadron instead of the Corsair 250d. 1. Anyone have experience with building an ITX computer with the Hadron? From PCPer and Jayztwocentz's POVs, it's challenging. I'd like to hear more. 2. Is the 500w power supply similarly good to the PSU tier 1/2 EVGA or other PSUs of said list? 3. Which external optical drives are good today? Rather go for than than go with the hassle of installing a slim driver. 4. Obviously, I'll wait and see the fruits of Nvidia's Pascal projects, but the MSI GTX 980 in the list or the EVGA GTX 980 SC ACX 2.0 can play Quantum Break at its recommended settings (According to Game Debate). 5. Obviously as well, OS is Win10. If things go bad/good in my life, I'll build this one and give my current build to relatives.
  12. I currently run a PC with an ASUS H97I+, with one M.2 slot. So, a few questions about m.2 SSDs: 1- is it possible to run today's/2015 games stored in a M.2 SSD? 2- Which is better company for this segment, Samsung (850 EVO) or Sandisk (Z400s)? 3- How hot does a M.2 SSD get during like, within 4 hours of normal operation?
  13. In the event of Bethesda finalizing DOOM's official PC specs, whatever happens on those four days of Beta testing could result in keeping the GTX 970 as the official recommended video card or bumping up to the 980 or worse, 980Ti.
  14. I've been researching around PCPartPicker for EVGA's GTX 970-980 series and I've lowered it to these GPUs with differing clocking styles. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-video-card-04gp43975kr (SSC ACX 2.0+) http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-video-card-04gp42977kr (Superclocked+ ACX 2.0) http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-video-card-04gp43978kr (FTW+ ACX 2.0+) http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-video-card-04gp42983kr (Superclocked ACX 2.0) So, based on experience, which is the better EVGA card I can rely the most of the four?? Note that I'm saving up to just $500 usd for one of these. For reference, my current rig to attach any of these is radically different for most enthusiast's taste. Please help.
