  1. I was browsing old youtube videos and came across the techquickie video for laser or optical switches. I decided to do more research and found that they could do some pretty interesting things such as "double actuation" where two functions are performed when the key is at different levels or walk speed variations in games. I was wondering if anyone had more information such as how prevalent support for this type of switch is in common games or if they are even worth looking at. If anyone believes that they are worth looking at it would be appreciated if anyone would be willing to point me in the direction of a decent budget option.
  2. The culprit seems to either be a faulty PSU or the power button at this point. Any other ideas from people that see this would be greatly appreciated as I am a relative noob.
  3. The first thing I would check is to see if the power button is wired correctly. Make sure the wire is intact and there is no debris near the pins that could be making a connection. Even unplug the power button and use a screwdriver as your power button for a while to see if it still dies. Another possible issue might be the power source. Are your breakers to that room intact. The power supply could be either damaged or overloaded. Make sure you aren't overloading your power supply using a wattage counter online. Give a 10-20 percent headroom with calculations. Since you said your GPU was mentioned in a dump file I would say take it out and use your computer to see if the shutdowns still occur. If you have another power supply lying around I would suggest also trying that. Sorry for the running on I just kind of dumped ideas. Hope this helps.
  4. I'm not finding cheap lga 1155 mobos anywhere. At the price I am finding them Ryzen would be cheaper.
  5. These could easily play cs:go and rocket league at frame rates good enough to not care about specifics. Pubg could be played as well but since there are very frequent changes that affect performance and optimization so I cannot say for sure that it'd top 60fps at maxed out settings. Medium settings should be absolutely no problem though.
  6. This seems to be a very good option when taking into account that he is unlikely to upgrade in the next 3-5 years. Where are you finding an lga1155 mobo for $25.
  7. Might it be worth it to trade the 1060 for a 1050ti in order to get a ryzen 3 1200 or 1300x? (Overclocking even with stock cooler and 4 cores)
  8. I plan to give a PC to my best friend as a Christmas present. I could easily build one under this price tag just going to pcpartpicker and staying within the budget but I was not sure what I should even be aiming to get. I am a relative newbie to the PC building world and the only experience under my belt is a 6600k gtx 1080 build I did about a year ago. He is specifically interested in Squad. With that game having minimum system requirements of a 4790k and 16 gigs of ram this is proving to be a bit of a challenge. The used hardware market in my area is nonexistent so unless my old core 2 duo with 4 gigs of ddr2 would suffice new parts are needed. I have a monitor and OS.
  9. Touche. I greatly appreciate your assistance. I may wait a few weeks using a membrane keyboard to see if the RGB medium size comes back into existence but either way this seems like a great option I feel kind of stupid to have not noticed it in a week of searching.
  10. A decent approach I'm sure but I was hoping for a slightly more specific recommendation. A lot of these seem to either be sketchy and cheap or 80 bucks.
  11. I have one issue with the masterkeys pro M. I may end up buying that and modding it but I'd rather avoid a big modding job especially since I am a mech keyboard noob.
  12. The extra buttons could be programmed to these functions either natively or using custom macros. LGS does a fair job with relatively simple multikey macros as well for things such as buying weapons in CS:GO. It isn't my first choice simply because I love the ergonomic feel of the g502 but if you believe macros would help with your playstyle and you aren't all too good at using a ton of keybinds for these functions go for it.
