It has been proven that on last November, even after disabling the 3 tracking pages in Windows 10 setup, the operating system's extensive telemetry (or ‘spying’ as it has been labelled) cannot be stopped. A guy named CheesusCrust on Voat conducted an extensive investigation which found Windows 10 contacts Microsoft and Non-Private IP over 5500 times in 8 hour period. After enabling third party tool DisableWinTracking, the number has been reduced to 2758 times to 30 different IP address in 30 hour period. CheesusCrust tested it on clean install Windows 10 Enterprise which should provide the most control over all version of Windows 10.

In November, Microsoft Corporate Vice President Joe Belfiore argued:

As of now, Microsoft has only been able to reply with, "I’m afraid we are not able to provide a comment on this."

This situation somehow reminds me of Skynet from Terminator. What do you guys think of this so-called "extensive telemetry"?

EDIT1: Feel free to post your opinion here and discuss constructively. I would like this topic stays neutral and the comments are about the upside and the downside of this implementation.

EDIT2: We now have an article from ZDNet challenging this as pointed out by user ManIkWeet,

Well contacting my ISP is a bit of a heck to mess, I will do that a little bit later. WinMTR helps me with packet loss, is there a way to measure my packet count and no. of connections?

We see this argument often. You don't understand (or are willfully ignorant) how meta data and telemetry works. You actually don't need your name and address to know say (in my case) "latino male, 18 to 35 demographic, connects through this 2 locations every day and a mobile device, googles this information, watches this videos, buys this specific items on amazon, has this specific systems" etc. Before you can actually be nearly 100% accurate in identifying you personally without a single item of personal data.

And yes google does it too, Facebook does it, doesn't makes it any less fucking justifiable if Microsoft does it on a much deeper level.

Google only knows so much because you choose to let it know.  Same with Facebook.
Google and Facebook are services, they can easily be avoided and you can block their cookies.  With a dynamic IP you can also prevent them from using your IP to gather info on their end too.
Your OS on the other hand can't be avoided.  Well, technically it can, you can always switch to Linux.  But still.

As for Vulkan, seeing as it'll work on all platforms it's a more logical choice than DirectX12.  Game devs probably won't switch from DirectX to Vulkan to please the Linux users, but the OSX users are a large enough demographic to make Vulkan worthwhile.

The simple fact is, this is the Enterprise grade version of Windows 10, and it is doing things that you have no control over. As a result, it is not secure, and no Network Admin with any kind of intelligence is going to suggest using it.

Your views doesn't reflect everyone's. You might not find this topic important, but others do.

Not all people will understand how collecting metadata on large number of individuals can lead to. They won't need the actual content in order to infer what you're doing with all the massive metadata they're collecting.

Some people will just scoff off the topic as "It's not identifiable information anyway" and "I got nothing to hide/not doing anything illegal". Its what the companies and governments hoping for so they've got obedient subjects to exploit.

Look, I don't claim it is my article. I just share it from Forbes and summarized it. Where there is now a debunk article, I will gladly read it.

HOWEVER, what about the connection to Non-Private IPs? What about the rest of the 2100 connections that the article didn't "debunk"? We need Microsoft to be more transparent about this.

I am trying to be neutral here hoping there are 2 sides of argument discussed constructively. Cheers.
