wizpig64 reacted to NvidiaIntelAMDLoveTriangle in Coffee Lake Motherboards Spotted From ASRock
Well AMD is to blame here, since AMD are the ones that stole Intel's naming scheme.

wizpig64 got a reaction from toastfacegrillah in PC in one room, want it connected to TV in other with controller...
Use USB over Ethernet adapters. HDMI over Ethernet also exists.
Edit: for example https://www.amazon.com/HDE-over-Extension-Cable-Adapter/dp/B004XYEXX4
Power might be an issue, I'm not sure. If it is, use a powered hub at the controller end.

wizpig64 got a reaction from Kuzma in Intel to renew commitment to desktop PCs with a slew of new CPUs
Intel just announced a bunch of stuff regarding desktop CPU products in 2014, and it seems like they've been listening to enthusiast feedback. There's some stuff that we already knew about (Haswell-E will have 8 core desktop variants, DDR4), but a lot of cool things as well.
Some highlights, as reported by Scott Wasson of The Tech Report: http://techreport.com/review/26189/intel-to-renew-commitment-to-desktop-with-slew-of-new-products:

wizpig64 got a reaction from Vitalius in Steam Controller ditches the touchscreen for better backwards compatibility
AA batteries are a positive for me. My eneloops have had a much longer lifespan than microsoft's battery packs, and they're much cheaper. That, and the ability to swap them out rather than having to plug in (see: ps3/4) is nice.

wizpig64 got a reaction from rhyseyness in "New BlackBerry CEO John Chen: Jumping on Android right now is inappropriate"
Yeah, a few years ago would have been a more appropriate moment.
With all seriousness though, he's right to not jump out and announce that on his first day. BB could bring a lot of good software if/when they do move to android, but they gotta plan that shit out before even hinting at it publicly. BBM seems cool but right now it only works on phones, I can't use it on my desktop or tablet. I'd be more enthusiastic about their software if they made more of an effort to get it to me. They have a lot of work to do before they can abandon their current platform.

wizpig64 got a reaction from Makaseo in Define R4, Haswell, & 760 Build
Well that link and the one i made are to the same page, so they are identical :P.. However, guru3d does seem to do a lot of copy pasting between their articles, the main differences being the graphs and the short bits pointing out the differences ("this one is Xdb, which is okay"/"this one is Ydb, which is good").
Here's how i have my lights slapped together (again, not permanent yet), if you want to see how much you'll need:
And hey I found a metric ruler. that second image has a 5cm grid. it looks like the LEDs are 1.66 cm apart (5/3 cm or 2/3 in), and the window is about 12 by 11 inches (or 30.5x28 cm). Given that the strips need to be cut in multiples of 5cm, I'll probably cut four 30cm pieces, meaning about 18 LEDs per side of the window, meaning 72 in total.
According to this bitfenix page, they sell 60cm pieces, so you could get 2 of those and be set. The LEDs are spaced every 2 cm compared to my 1.66, and apparently they go for over $30 each, so yeah that's why i'm going the custom route (my spool was $14) :P
I'm hesitant to see how well they stick to the sound dampening material though, that could get tricky.

Sweet mother of mercy. I think I need to get white lighting now. If you don't mind me asking, what strips are you using there?
As for the EVGA reference cooler, it does have that faint grinding noise that's annoying at idle and even more annoying at load. It looks nice and all but I'm returning it for a better one (maybe ACX, I don't know yet). I think the Windforce cooler would look amazing in your build with the silver fins and black shroud matching your CPU heatsink.
