  1. OCGenie, especially on older chips, isnt exactly stable or reliable... Try dialling in an OC yourself, more fun and you should be able to do a better job than what OC genie could do anyway... If you really wanna cover all your bases, do a memory test, theres a couple found online. also, do this: https://www.userbenchmark.com/ download, run, and share the link of the results so we can have more information to help you. It tells us your exact specs and some basic diagnostic info
  2. Sorry, just to clarify... I get one cable, with one 8 pin connector on it for the PSU side, but has 16 pins on the other side for the GPU (assuming 6+2, yadda yadda)
  3. If you're into that sorta thing, you could buy some figurines of your favourite characters and have them chillin in your rig like, if you liked Indiana Jones, you could get him swinging from a vine hung from that space too. Lego looks great too!
  4. Hey there! I've been building PCs for 10 years, and this is a stupid question, but in all that time I've never worked with a fully modular PSU, and while upgrading my friend's rig, iIve into a bit of trouble I'm installing a GTX 1080 we got for a good price, and after inserting the card into the MOBO, I've found he doesn't have any spare cables (he was previously running a low power card). No problem, i'll buy some PCIe cables online and they'll be here in a few days, annoying but whatever. When searching online, I've found what cables I need. Corsair type 4 PCIe cables for the RM550x PSU (if someone could double check that too, that would be great, im reasonably confident but again never worked with these PSUs before) PSU info sheet here: https://www.corsair.com/corsairmedia/sys_master/productcontent/RMx_2018_Manual.pdf The problem occurs here... The GPU needs a 8pin and a 6 pin, but on the PSU there is only one 8 pin available on the PCIe section of the ports. The CPU is of course populating the other 8 pin, leaving only 8 free. (See attached picture for reference.) But I've looked online and there's plenty of people running this exact combination of parts, so I have no idea what I'm missing here, any help would be appreciated https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.scan.co.uk%2Fproducts%2F550w-corsair-rmx-series-rm550x-full-modular-80plus-gold-sli-crossfire-single-rail-458a-140mm-fan-atx&psig=AOvVaw2TfWxcmKQ2hqqwRawNpI1e&ust=1681656049474000&source=images&cd=vfe&ved=0CBAQjRxqFwoTCLiem42PrP4CFQAAAAAdAAAAABAE (EDIT: apologies, the picture wont attach so here is a link)
  5. Jono left? I dont see anything on his Twitter.... Edit: Never mind, this was ages ago lol, must've missed it, my bad. As for the original question, I'm sure LMG will find a solution, it's just with everything going on right now (backpack, staff change over including Jono and Tarran) it's not a massive prioroty, as much as that may affect people.
  6. To me it sounds like a slightly loose fan bearing that becomes audible when your fans spin up at specific RPMs fan curves can be weird, even if you are only making our your CPU it may not go full speed or maybe the speed it like 95% full speed..... From the video i wouldnt say it is coil whine, but it's hard to tell with a video of course.
  7. Hey, I was literally in your exact position, same programs and use case, a few moths ago Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 was my choice it is one of the best laptops on the market right now, with plenty of options and configurations. I personally got the AMD variant but it also has Intel offerings (I wanted the multi threaded power more, but you may want more single threaded speed) here is a short circuit review it's a light, sleek and mid sized laptop, with plenty of power behind it, but also a fantastic battery.
  8. Go for it, very little that can be bad with that deal. Nice find
  9. Sorry mate, but that card is gone. Like, not even a pro could salvage that. Try to contact razor, see if they will cover damages. See warranty staus, but yeah, that card is gone.
  10. Thats a very, VERY good deal but 2nd monitors are pretty much always a safe bet aslong as they turn on, whats the 2nd hand market around you like?
  11. Try different speed tests, then come back and tell us I've heard some bad things about speedtest.net, and I've personally had inconsistent results Don't ever rely on just one test good luck
  12. Ok... Stop, dont touch it anymore Make a list of everything you've done so far Find the nearest data recovery service near you. Get the pros to handle it, dont risk your data trying to do it yourself. good luck
  13. Hello I am a tutor for a person who needed some help getting around the anti-cheat of a couple of raffles he was entering. They were all done on one site and I found a method to circumvent their security. He paid me a decent amount for the work but I was wondering about a few things. If I were to tell this site about the flaw, would they pay me? And if so, how much. I think the method has the ability to make a lot of money as the raffles hosted on the site are about crypto. If I were to say I had a "hack" to this site, and they offer me no money, could I get in legal hot water as I'm sorta blackmailing them? From what I've seen, they have no active rewards for security flaws. Would I be forced to tell them even if they don't pay me If I were to get paid, how much would it be? What should I do ethically? I'm not directly using the method, I was just hired to find a way to enter a raffle multiple times. Would really like some help with this, cheers
  14. We're sorry mate, without any real budget and considering you got really unlucky with that PSU, theres nothing really we can do We are all sympathetic for you, and we tried, but this isn't something we can magically provide an answer for
  15. with a non standard case, you can lots of problems routing cables from a 3rd party PSU Not to mention the actual space for the PSU might be custom, therfore you cant fit any new PSU in there
  16. Mate... really with the PSU and case, along with the MOZBO you don't really have that much of an option apart to rebuild the thing sadly.... I dunno your financial situation so i can't comment on that but I suggest you save up and get a worthwhile and enjoyable upgrade in a few months
  17. This guy seems like this PC is his only option RN, I would very much hate to even think of someone doing something so risky just to end up with less that what he started with
  18. No, this guy is a beginner and even I (relativley experienced in PC modding) wouldnt even attempt to do that, ESPECIALLY on a prebuild system with limited info
  19. ouch.... yeah mate, sadly as someone with lots of experience working with prebuilts (and blowing them up) I can't safely reccomend that you get the new GPU.... I think you can salvage a lot from the PC, but get a new Case, PSU, MOBO and GPU.... no real other options I'm afraid
  20. which PSU is yours? can you tell us the wattage, theres 4 options there
  21. prebuilt case, I wouldnt reccomend trying a case move or a PSU switch... wayyyy too hard
  22. I didnt see that one when i looked it up... can you find a info page and send the link so we know exactly what we are working with?
  23. 1. What's your use case? what are you planning on using this PC for? 2. Intel isnt "way behind", depends on multicore score (of which yes, AMD has a 15%ish average over intel on each of their newest chips), or single core, which they are pretty evenly matched. Again, can't strongly reccomend one way or another until i know your use case, so im just giving generalised info right now
  24. Okay immediatley i see you need a SFF card, since that PC is a slim build... make sure you look out for this and for a 1650, look for one that run only on PCIe power and it will be just fine, so make sure you look at reviews for the exact card and make sure it doesnt require a 6 pin. also, measure and make sure any card you buy will fit
  25. I agree with what @RONOTHAN##has said... please, PLEASE look at the used market... on my local facebook marketplace I can see 1050ti's going for really cheap... and it would be a massive difference compared to a 1030
