1. I'm going to say yes as I don't recall him having a monitor. He still hasn't told me if he wants one so I'm going to say yes for him ?
2. I agree, but he wants a computer along with his PS4, he did say he was gonna use it for school and other things.
3. I'll show these parts to him and let you guys know what happens! Thanks!
4. With the fact that he's working right now, it can be increased to any amount but personally, I don't think he would want to spend $1,000+. I messaged him asking what is the maximum he is willing to spend.
5. EDIT: 2/6/2019: I have 3 builds and have let my friend know that we need to meet 1 on 1 and talk about which case, peripherals, and monitor he wants. Thanks to those 3 who compiled part lists! My friend has asked me to basically build him a computer since according to him and my family I'm the computer god, anyways here is what he has given me in regards to the use case, etc. 1. Budget & Location Budget: $500 - Can be increased if necessary Location: USA 2. Aim He mainly wants to use it to play games such as: The Fallout Series Indie games (literally all he said) - he mentioned various "single/multiplayer" games but failed to mention specific ones (god forbid one of them is Fortnite) It doesn't need to handle ULTRA 4K RAYTRACING He said "I just want to do a little bit of everything" and again, failed to mention what exactly everything means. I know he doesn't video edit so maybe a quad core should be good (only because dual cores suck, at least mine does) 3. Monitors We will start with 1 1080P monitor, and increase if he would like(not likely though). 4. Peripherals Even if he does need a keyboard/mouse, he will probably go to best buy and get the cheapest thing they have. He needs a monitor btw. Hopefully, he doesn't go to a garage sale and get a cheap ass monitor. 5. Why are you upgrading? He has no computer and wants one. Simple. (although he as a PS4 ????) I'll try to get him to clarify his use case as I don't think its very clear. Thanks. If there's anything else required, feel free to ask. Also because my memory is ass I'll forget this post exists until my friend reminds me again.
6. I come back from grabbing some water and saw this ??
7. I'll talk with my dad and find other choices or maybe go with the Magicforce and Nixeus Revel. Thanks guys.
8. I saw a post on Facebook by Newegg showing "Rosewill Neon" Mechanical Keyboard and Mouse and was wondering if it's even worth it as I saw some comments saying how their RAM didn't last long and the power supply lasting for a few months and I'm wondering if these will only last for a short time...
9. Obviously it's not that then, my dad said he's gonna get an SSD soon.
10. EDIT: We're gonna go with the CPU cooler change and the SSD update, not sure about the laptop though... My dad and I have been planning to either build a PC or buy a prebuilt for the living room PC and down the line to get a laptop for him when he's not working and sitting in his house from abroad doing nothing. Also, my dad said it should "play youtube without stopping and edit videos without the cpu fan sounding like a motorcycle and it shouldn't take at least 5 minutes to get to the desktop," were his exact words We don't plan to buy the PC parts as soon as we pick what we want, maybe next week or in the next month we'll buy the parts and build it or buy a prebuilt. Whatever my dad picks from the recommendations I show him from this post. Budget & Location: $500, United States. Aim: Play youtube videos without buffering and/or freezing the computer Handle light video editing (I'll check what kind of videos he's gonna edit when I call him next time) Play games (Toontown rewritten - OpenGL, Bendy and the Ink Machine - Directx 10, Spooky's Jumpscare Mansion) - My sister is into horror stuff so... Monitors: 1 SonicView monitor at 1280 x 1024, I'm not sure if my dad would want to change that, I'll conform with him when I call him. Peripherals: I don't think my dad would want to change the keyboard and mouse, and we would like Windows 10 Home included if we choose to build the PC. Why am I upgrading?: The Dell that's currently in the living room is ok... except for the fact that when you do anything the CPU fan spins so loud my mom complains... and that's not good. Also the HDD's in there make it seems so slow I do something else while it opens chrome (I told my sister to copy her pictures and crap but she said "no bc they dont fit" so theres a laptop HDD hanging which at some point is gonna get a head crash or something similar. The laptop is pretty much the same deal. I did reformat and install the basic programs my sister and dad use but the CPU fan is still loud and the computer is still slow. If there's anything I missed please let me know as this is my 4th post now.
11. I would like to know why the download button is disabled on the "Podcasts" app in the app store on iTunes? Here's a screenshot: http://prntscr.com/dbhbl1 I have an iPhone 4 with iOS 7.1.2, I don't know if its supported or not, anything I search up is along the lines of "Podcast wont download" Thanks.
12. I updated the post, it has the things that I would like to accomplish at this time. More things may pop up.
13. True. I lost it at Dependency Injection... I'll read the wikipedia articles and try to understand...
14. Now I'm getting this error: An unhandled exception of type 'System.NullReferenceException' occurred in Inkbunny.exe Additional information: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Here's where the error occurs: private void button2_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { var path = @"C:\Users\Blunt\Documents\Visual Studio 2015\Projects\Inkbunny\Inkbunny.xml"; var document = XDocument.Load(path); foreach (var sub in document.Descendants("title")) { MessageBox.Show($"Name: {sub.Element("title").Value}"); } } Here's the XML file I'm using for testing: <submission> <submission_id> 1158775 </submission_id> <hidden> f </hidden> <username> PinkSyrup </username> <user_id> 331649 </user_id> <create_datetime> 2016-08-01 17:10:53.135638+02 </create_datetime> <create_datetime_usertime> 01 Aug 2016 08:10 PDT </create_datetime_usertime> <last_file_update_datetime> 2016-08-01 16:38:16.850678+02 </last_file_update_datetime> <last_file_update_datetime_usertime> 01 Aug 2016 07:38 PDT </last_file_update_datetime_usertime> <thumbnail_url_huge> https://inkbunny.net/thumbnails/huge/1610/1610233_PinkSyrup_lauirbadenda.jpg </thumbnail_url_huge> <thumbnail_url_large> https://inkbunny.net/thumbnails/large/1610/1610233_PinkSyrup_lauirbadenda.jpg </thumbnail_url_large> <thumbnail_url_medium> https://inkbunny.net/thumbnails/medium/1610/1610233_PinkSyrup_lauirbadenda.jpg </thumbnail_url_medium> <thumb_huge_x> 300 </thumb_huge_x> <thumb_huge_y> 300 </thumb_huge_y> <thumb_large_x> 200 </thumb_large_x> <thumb_large_y> 200 </thumb_large_y> <thumb_medium_x> 120 </thumb_medium_x> <thumb_medium_y> 120 </thumb_medium_y> <thumbnail_url_huge_noncustom> https://inkbunny.net/files/preview/1610/1610233_PinkSyrup_lauirbadenda.jpg </thumbnail_url_huge_noncustom> <thumbnail_url_large_noncustom> https://inkbunny.net/thumbnails/large/1610/1610233_PinkSyrup_lauirbadenda_noncustom.jpg </thumbnail_url_large_noncustom> <thumbnail_url_medium_noncustom> https://inkbunny.net/thumbnails/medium/1610/1610233_PinkSyrup_lauirbadenda_noncustom.jpg </thumbnail_url_medium_noncustom> <thumb_medium_noncustom_x> 120 </thumb_medium_noncustom_x> <thumb_medium_noncustom_y> 120 </thumb_medium_noncustom_y> <thumb_large_noncustom_x> 200 </thumb_large_noncustom_x> <thumb_large_noncustom_y> 200 </thumb_large_noncustom_y> <thumb_huge_noncustom_x> 300 </thumb_huge_noncustom_x> <thumb_huge_noncustom_y> 300 </thumb_huge_noncustom_y> <file_name> 1610233_PinkSyrup_lauirbadenda.png </file_name>
Kitten Pit
<deleted> f </deleted> <public> t </public> <mimetype> image/png </mimetype> <pagecount> 10 </pagecount> <rating_id> 2 </rating_id> <rating_name> Adult </rating_name> <file_url_full> https://inkbunny.net/files/full/1610/1610233_PinkSyrup_lauirbadenda.png </file_url_full> <file_url_screen> https://inkbunny.net/files/screen/1610/1610233_PinkSyrup_lauirbadenda.png </file_url_screen> <file_url_preview> https://inkbunny.net/files/preview/1610/1610233_PinkSyrup_lauirbadenda.jpg </file_url_preview> <submission_type_id> 1 </submission_type_id> <type_name> Picture/Pinup </type_name> <digitalsales> f </digitalsales> <printsales> f </printsales> <friends_only> f </friends_only> <guest_block> t </guest_block> <scraps> f </scraps> </submission>
15. Jirajha: I didn't know where to put these so I tried putting the block into one form and it just gave build errors so I gave up and I'll just save the variable to a file and access it from there. After messing with the variables I got it to download a file without Windows Photo Viewer saying that its corrupted. I'm also trying out Nuluvius: I'm trying out the code and it actually works without giving errors, I'll try to adapt this to work with what I need. Thanks again guys. c:
16. I'll try to make this work in my application. Thanks. c: Funny how I couldn't understand what's on Microsoft's website but I could understand this.
17. I'll check these out. Thanks. :3 Update: I'm such a newbie that I don't understand any of the sources.
18. UPDATE: 11/24/16 Happy thanksgiving and I have no idea how to delete this so I'll just leave this here: I HAVE ACCOMPLISHED EVERYTHING I NEEDED IN MY ORIGINAL POST SO DO NOT COMMENT PLEASE UPDATE: 8/10/16 I started school so I'm not gonna have as much time to work on this. ;-; UPDATE: 8/7/16 I fixed the Form1_Activated loop. UPDATE: 8/5/16 I will keep trying to fix the annoying loop that's caused whenever the form is activated. In the mean time I'll make a picture viewer similar to Windows Photo Viewer. I did this before but that was when I was using c# for the first time. Now I have a bit more knowledge and hopefully will improve it. UPDATE: 8/3/16 Here's what I have accomplished so far: 1. Downloading an image from a URL 2. Read and be able to select certain roots of the XML file - thanks to Nuluvius Here's what's left: 1. Close the XML file when a new or similar search is performed. There's no File.Close(); that I'm aware of. Also I'm using XDocument.Load(); to load the XML. 2. Being able to relocate the controls when the window is resized 3. Auto size the groupbox in case the the title is large and doesn't cut off(see the third picture) I will also provide the source code and .exe file's here: Updated: 8/7/16 Login: http://pastebin.com/94iLbkhF Image_Browser: http://pastebin.com/aDsbwb97 .exe: https://mega.nz/#!rAUEQK5C!xg9hjpKnGwMZrlQ4XjT6dkJ9VFhyPBllcAcutrdkJek To login: If you HAVE an Inkbunny account: type in your information and login, as soon as a SID is received, the password is destroyed. If you DON'T have one and do not wish to make one: use "guest" for the username and leave the password blank. Note that users have the option to block submissions from guests. I really hope links are allowed... I've included pictures of the app, just thought you might want to look at it, unless you don't want too. Here's the original post: *I'm just learning c# again as I haven't coded in a while, so don't make your answers too complicated please. Thanks.* I have 3 question for you guys: 1. How would I download a picture from a website? Ex. Image 2. How to read the values that I want from an xml output from a web server? 3. I want to access a variable thats in Form1(Login) from Form2(Image_Browser), how would I do this? Here's my code: http://pastebin.com/94iLbkhF Feel free to improve it, but don't steal it and claim it as your own. .-. I want to be able to get only the name of the submission, the account title, the thumbnail of the submission, the rating of the submission such as "Mature," and the full screen URL of the image from the XML output of the server, everything else is useless for me right now. I have tried nothing yet as I'm still a newbie with c#. Thanks! Here's a sample of the XML from a web server: <submission> <submission_id>...</submission_id> <hidden>...</hidden> <username> Kinaj </username> <user_id>...</user_id> <create_datetime>...</create_datetime> <create_datetime_usertime>...</create_datetime_usertime> <last_file_update_datetime>...</last_file_update_datetime> <last_file_update_datetime_usertime>...</last_file_update_datetime_usertime> <thumbnail_url_huge_noncustom>...</thumbnail_url_huge_noncustom> <thumbnail_url_large_noncustom>...</thumbnail_url_large_noncustom> <thumbnail_url_medium_noncustom> https://inkbunny.net/thumbnails/medium/1609/1609080_Kinaj_alex_marie_schlie__die_t_r_noncustom.jpg </thumbnail_url_medium_noncustom> <thumb_medium_noncustom_x>...</thumb_medium_noncustom_x> <thumb_medium_noncustom_y>...</thumb_medium_noncustom_y> <thumb_large_noncustom_x>...</thumb_large_noncustom_x> <thumb_large_noncustom_y>...</thumb_large_noncustom_y> <thumb_huge_noncustom_x>...</thumb_huge_noncustom_x> <thumb_huge_noncustom_y>...</thumb_huge_noncustom_y> <file_name>...</file_name>
Close the Door
<deleted>...</deleted> <public>...</public> <mimetype>...</mimetype> <pagecount>...</pagecount> <rating_id>...</rating_id> <rating_name> Mature </rating_name> <file_url_full> https://inkbunny.net/files/full/1609/1609080_Kinaj_alex_marie_schlie__die_t_r.png </file_url_full> <file_url_screen>...</file_url_screen> <file_url_preview>...</file_url_preview> <submission_type_id>...</submission_type_id> <type_name>...</type_name> <digitalsales>...</digitalsales> <printsales>...</printsales> <friends_only>...</friends_only> <guest_block>...</guest_block> <scraps>...</scraps> </submission>
19. Update: It appears to be solved... I'll still keep looking at memory usage.
20. It seems that when I log in the memory usage is really low but as soon as I open Google Chrome the svchost.exe process opens and takes up all of my memory... wtf..?
