  1. Hello guys, Kinda new to the forums but not the LTT. Lately a system I built 3 years ago has been having some issues with the power delivery and not booting. Sometimes I can get to the bios and even the OS but only for a short period of time, just enough to get to the motherboard utilities and the voltage monitor. We (the owner of the system and I) decided to change out the power supply and It did seemed fixed for a couple of days. Until today, the system decided to take a dump again on my friend and it giving the power surge bios error screen and thus not allowing him to use his pc. As it's his only and dedicated work/school system, he pretty much needs it on a daily basis. Now, I'm not much of a tech savy guy when it comes to troubleshooting, so I often browse around to see what I find and what could be of help in most of my harsh tech moments :v. I've been considering swapping out this time the mother board and try a new one but I know that this comes with some challeges, mainly OS and HDD restrictions which I don't know how to handle. THUS I'm here, What do you guys think could be the problem. On his older PSU the system monitor reported 13.5 volts without a regulator helping it and around 12.6 with it, the brand spanking new one goes all the way to 14v (roughly 20%) and this goes for the other voltages. system specs: ASUS P8Z77-V PRO Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1866 Windows 10 on a Samsung SSD 850 Evo 500gb Evga 770 SC I5 3570k at stock 3.4ghz Silverstone SX-500-LG
