Have you tried with the "faulty" gpu only? What wattage psu do you have?

Edit- sorry the pics didn't load for me the first time.  Idk how reasonable it would be for you to test the second card in the first pcie slot.

    So, update.
The i3 runs my emulators significantly better than the 2200g except for ps2, which is identical performance at 1080p. 4k may be different, but I'm using a 1050 ti for testing, so thats out of reach until I get a 1060/1070.

The same is true for native PC games, though the frames seem more stable with the ryzen.

I'll update when I get a  new GPU.

    Hmm...
    The i3 is 2 cores / 4 threads.
The Ryzen is 4 cores / 4 threads.

But I suspect the i3 would be a better choice for now, as it has a clear clock speed advantage.

CoffeeMod your LGA1151 board (link in my signature) and install something like i3-8350K there, then OC it.
I read emulation requires a few, but fast cores.

I currently own a GTX 1050ti which i'm going to upgrade. I was originally going to buy the GTX 1660ti but the newly released GTX 1650 Super has me thinking. The 1660ti is a £300 card that pulls around a total system power consumption of 280, whereas the GTX 1650 Super is a £160 card that pulls around an average system power consumption of 220. There is about a 20-25 average fps difference between both cards. The reason i'm bothered about the power is because I own a 400w PSU and therefore I'm a little tentative about buying the 1660ti as it recommends a psu of 450w, whereas the 1650 super recommends 350 (fitting nicely to my system). Now don't get me wrong, the 1660ti is obviously a better card, but is it worth almost double the price for the performance increase? And is it worth making me sleep better at night knowing that I''l have a card that won't potentially break my power supply?

I suspect either of these systems should be enough for the consoles you mentioned, but if for some reason they're not enough, or you want to try something more demanding in the future, an update to a very high clocked 9th gen Intel or Zen 2 CPU might make the difference if you only need a few more frames, but these things tend to be more of a pass/fail situation.  As in, it will work, or it'll run at like 10 fps - not a small margin you can resolve with hardware changes.  In these cases, there's no choice but to simply wait for software optimizations.

I believe that i3 will be better, but it depends on the emulation software you're using.  Generally speaking it is extremely hungry for single-threaded performance and can only use a few threads at most, so a very fast dual or at most quad core is probably your best bet.  Trading speed for cores will generally not help with emulation.  I believe the Intel and AMD CPUs in this case have relatively similar IPC, but the Intel CPU can reach 4.2 GHz (and apparently up to 5.0 based on your post) while that Ryzen chip is only hitting 3.7 GHz, with hope for up to 4.0 at most in all likelihood (this is generally the cap for first gen Ryzen).  If you already have all the hardware though, I would advice just trying your emulator on both systems to see for yourself which is better.  If you already own everything you need, it's free to just try stuff and you never know what you will learn

Well if you can sell it for high price ... then go for it, wait few months and buy gtx 1080 ti.
I just hope tha buyer won't screw you and try to get his money back once he realise that ETH and ZEC are done with GPU mining.

I would... I sold my rx 470 for $385, and bought a gtx 1050ti for $100.  Pocketed the rest for my Vega fund.
Don't let anyone make you feel bad for doing that either.  At this point, the only people paying those exuberant prices are miners, so you aren't directly screwing gamers over.

Edit- Given that prices remain high after all this recent noise on cryptocurrency.

They often say something along this line. "I bought this XXX card and when it arrived it was defective but I haven't got the chance to submit a dispute for XXXX reason. This is my first time buying or I've been buying on ebay since XXXX and I can't believe I got scammed. I hope you can do something about this."

Lots of ways really.  I know someone that sold his 7970 during the bitcoin thing a few years ago.  The buyer already had the item for 3 or 4 days when the market crashed, and submitted to ebay that he was scammed.  Even took a video of him "unboxing" the card to reveal a 6450 with a 7970 painted on it.  eBay sided with the buyer.

Dang, you got a really good deal for that. As for me, I'm probably going to sell off my two 1070s for $500 each and wait for the market to crash to get 1080s. haha.

It probably depends on the game and it's individual VRAM needs, but I can certainly see how the two could be quite close at times. I think the 980 is probably a better choice between the two, though.

The 980 is underrated imo. I still have a MSI 980 which still performs outstandingly in all games. I'm yet to come across a game that can't do over 60 FPS with everything on ultra with my 980. 200 dollars is a great price for a 980.

It can't be that outdated, it's only last gen. I'm still running an LGA 1155 Pentium, DDR3, and just got a 980 Ti. And I have a 2012 MacBook Pro and iPhone 6 Plus. So all at least one to three or four gens back. It all works (except the 980 Ti, because my potato OEM PSU doesn't have the right connectors, and I don't want to bodge something together and fry my GPU)!
