  1. It looks like the gigabyte board you mentioned supports some Xeon E3 and usually these can be had for cheaper than a comporable i7. Copied from the Gigabyte site: The ones with N/A in 3rd column do not include iGPUs. Check the specs of these chips on ark.intel.com, see if you can find one you like used for cheaper. 2. 9th gen is not affected by ZombieLoad, you will be just fine.
  3. Ok I was wrong on that new steppings of 8th gen also include hardware fixes for L1TF, Meltdown and ZombieLoad. But that does not apply to Spectre, which still needs software/microcode mitigations currently on all CPUs.
  4. You can get an RTX 2060 for less, than the V64 if you want nvidia.
  5. Do an in place upgrade to Pro, your apps will be deleted, but data stays. But an in place upgrade is kind of messy, so I suggest backing up to an external/secondary hard drive. NOTE: I highly recommend unplugging your secondary HDD during the Windows install, to make sure you won't format your data drive by accident.
  6. Yes he is fine. But to be clear 8th gen has no hardware fixes for anything, and 9th gen only for Meltdown. Spectre, Zombieload, Foreshadow, etc. only have software mitigations on every current CPU.
  7. All modern CPUs suck in terms of security (yes that includes AMD and I'm typing this on a 2400G). Zombieload "fix" only takes away 30% in some workloads if you disable HT, but most OSs by now have other mitigations. Choose your CPU based on perf/$ for your application (I assume it's gaming for you) not vulnerabilities.
  8. Maybe in the US, but here more like for $180.
  9. No chance of getting it for $80, for $100 it's still the cheapest used card + it's sapphire nitro+ and those usually sell for more than crappier ones. I'm upgrading my 2400G APU box. I am not a huge gamer, but sometimes play DOOM (2016, not the old one), and some more demanding emulators like PCSX2 and Dolphin.
  10. That card with 10 GBP shipping, is more like $170.
  11. Last time I checked, you had lower VAT, but even that doesn't explain why a new 570 is more like 180$.
  12. A new 570 4 gig is more like $180-190 here, thanks to taxes. Most brands don't handle RMA directly in Hungary, and you mainly do RMA with the retailer/shop you bought it from here. And it's incredibly common to pass warranty papers, when you sell used hardware and most shops are fine with it.
  13. Here a new RX570 is more like $180. Thanks 27% VAT.
  14. It's in the title. It is an ex-mining card, but still has warranty until 2020/01/06. Should I buy or look for something else?
  15. Install Ubuntu in VirtualBox or vmware.
