Greetings and thank you for your time.
I have a couple scenarios for your analysis and suggestions.
So basically my system is used for gaming and watching movies only. I play LoL, Dota2, SC2, BF3, Borderlands 2 at 1920 x 1080 resolution.
I've been drawn to the physx of Heart of The Swarm.
My current System:
Display: Samsung 22-inch 1080p Led HDTV.
Case: Cooler Master HAF 922 Mid Tower.
MotherBoard: Gigabyte GA-790XTA-UD4 (rev. 1.0).
GPU: XFX Radeon HD 6870.
PSU: Corsair GS700 PSU.
CPU: AMD PH II X4 955BE.
CPU Cooler: Thermaltake Frio.
RAM: 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 7-9-7-24 Blackline.
Raid 1: 2x Callisto deluxe 60GB Solid State Drive - MKNSSDCL60GB-DX.
In case you would like to see how I put it together :D pictures here, please note that the GPU and PSU on those pics were replaced.
Scenario 1:
I thought of upgrading my video card and RAM but my board does not have PCIE 3.0. I would like physx, looks really nice (mostly want it for SC2). I have an old GeForce 8600GTS but was not able to do the AMD Physx hybrid setup posted around the web. I would like to add a second monitor to play with twitch and do other stuff while I play windowed...watch youtube or read stuff.
Scenario 2:
I can sell the system for $500.00 (Which I think is a steal!) to a coworker and build a new one.
I thought about this system.
Case: Cooler Master HAF XB
Motherboard: AS Rock LGA1155
CPU: Intel i5-3570K
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Seidon 120XL
GPU: ASUS GTX 660Ti
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB
PSU: Corsair TX 860
I would keep the Hard Drives from my current system.
The water cooling only because I live in Puerto Rico and it gets really hot, even during the night and I would like to get the most out of the CPU.
My budgent would be $360 from savings and $500 from the current system. I could also snag a $200.00 from my wife since I got nothing for Christmas, Birthday and Father's day.
But I'm trying to get close to that $1000.00 budget.
I'm dreaming about being capable of playinig Crysis 3 on very high settings later down the road with SLI or Crossfire?
Thank you for your advise.
