  1. Everything you said is correct but this one. They will not down clock to the slowest speed card. I have 2 gtx 970 ftw+s and one is over clocked to 1550 boost with 8000 for the memory while the other is at stock. The overclocked card never throttles down or anything but it is water cooled with a Kraken G10 and Heatsinks over the vrms and memory chips. The other is awaiting the same modification just haven't gotten off my lazy arse to do it yet lol. Also 2 gtx 950 ftws are worth it. I ran that setup for maybe 3 months before I upgraded to 2 970s ftw+s. The 950s did out perform all 970s, single not sli, that I tested them against. 3dMark Firestrike Score EVGA GTX 950 FTW in SLI
  2. I do not believe that card has a midplate but if it does you might need a 25x25x1.2 mm copper shim in between the pump and gpu die. Just put a G10 on my 970 FTW+'s ordered shims just in case but didn't need them. Just hated having to remove the back plate. Also had to use a zip tie for a screw replacement since one of the G10 screws came unthreaded. Really disappointed in NZXT for that one but it works and NZXT is sending me a whole new mounting set for the G10.
  3. For anyone still wondering if the Kraken G10 will work on a GTX 970 FTW+ I can confirm it does. The downside is you will have to remove the back plate. The mid-plate is fine but it is recommended to put heatsinks over the vrm area and on the back on the ram. It looks awesome and have dropped my temps from 80 degrees on load to never getting above 55 degrees. Also no shims or special washers and screws are required. It is not that difficult to install but it can get a little frustrating. Hope this helps and answers the question I was trying to get an answer for like a week before I descided to just find out for myself.
  4. I have a 8320 with tri 970s ftw+ and when it was just dual at stock I didn't notice any bottlenecks but could just be me being satisfied with my frames. I also just ordered myself a 9590 today which will arrive tomorrow. A major overkill for me but hey why not?
  5. Sli to me seems to run more smoother than crossfire but I think it's because the cheap PSU I have in my other rig is the problem.
  6. Me personally ima performance hog. Used AMD for years and recently went to nvidia with 2 950s in sli. Was a great experience but done upgraded to 2 970s in sli. Also built another rig with 2 390s. Each run dual monitors.
  7. True AMD is known for best bang for the buck.
  8. That would handle it just fine. Assuming having all the power requirements.
  9. OK well from what I saw a 980 to still out performed that card by 5 - 10 frames in most of those games and the 980 was still right there with it with most fps scores in margin of error range. I didn't read the whole thing but was that a triple monitor setup for those benchmarks? Cause this whole thread was about if a 8350 and a 980 could handle 3 monitors.
  10. Even a fury will bog down under a 3 monitor load. AMD card aren't that much better than the nvidia's. They are just power hungry cards. You would think more power equals more performance well yes and no. Counts on more factors than power consumption.
  11. The 8350 will suffice for a 3 way monitor setup. The 980 might bog a little but not by much. Most games right now doesn't utilize all the cores in the 8 core chips. Hell not even quad core chips. The battlefield series is only games I can think of off my head that uses all the cores in a quad core. DirectX12 is suppose to change all that. For the monitor setup if can afford it throw in another 980 and you will definently not have any issues.
  12. Why not the evga 950s? The ftw is a beast for a budget card and get a 650gq for PSU. Good if you wanna sli them like I.
  13. If budget is the problem then a 950 is a good choice. Any of the evga ones are good but the ftw 950 is a beast of a "low end card" only requires 350 Watts of PSU and as long as you aren't over clocking your PSU will suffice. True 960 a little more pricey can be a better card but one of my ftw 950s can out perform it. Overclocked of course. In the witcher 3 with everything maxed, including hair works I get a steady 40 fps. With both in sli I get 60 fps with everything maxed. I have 1 overclocked at 120+ on core and a 650+ on memory. The other I can squeeze 80+ on core and 650+ on memory. I didn't have a budget issue I just wanted to see how well sli performs and surprisingly well. Not a single problem out of sli in the past 3 months I have been using it. I have gotten a 980 ti hybrid and planning to order my next hybrid today for sli.
