I'm no mechanic, but enough youtube videos say you need a new turbo. The pipe only needs a gasket. xD Go down to your local dump and get yourself a dump turbo.

As far as I can understand it looks like your output isnt variable. Not unless you're running a variac on the input or plan on running something in line that switches the voltage on the output.

You would expect if they're your boss they'd have a fundamental understanding of the topic but I too deal with supervisors and even company owners who have zero understanding of the computer tasks I handle for the company. And we're a tech company.

Agreed, this is more of a distanced deployment appliance. Maybe you have a small office really far away from your network closet. 10Gig uplink isn't needed but a cable longer than 328ft is. This could provide sufficient bandwidth for computers, couple security cameras, a wi-fi AP, etc maybe in a warehouse application or multi story building. It has it's applications.

I have a whole pile of these. Had to compose a CMD script that detected removable media so I could eject them. Using the Vendor name as my identifier was pointless because they don't stay the same across drives and neither does the Windows assigned drive letter.

So following up my post from earlier this morni…

HP pulled a Goofy "and I'll do it again" with their Elitebook x360 series. Hinge is only attached to a plastic sub-assembly with 3~4 screws on either side. Very common that the plastic around the brass inserts fail and the whole hinge assebly shatters. Even dumber they make some of the screws that hold the bottom cover pull double duty and help hold the hinge assebly together. Stupid stupid design.

If it's not supposed to be Bitlocker encrypted that's what I was thinking. Someone else ruined it before I did. But at the same time if we come across any customer data it is my job to destroy it so alls well that ends well. Based on what I read though this chip can apparently come in 64GB and 128GB capacities. Those are definitely not needed to factory reset windows so I should assume it's intended to have multiple potential functions. I might post this question as a topic on the forum and see if others who work in this type of business have any experience with them. I just find it odd. I've seen solder RAM + removable RAM combo but 32GB/64GB/128GB eMMC + removable NVMe? Weird combo...

Is this normally bitlocker encrypted? Cause thats the state it was in when I discoveres it. PXE netboot is very much a supported feature of the NIC firmware already capable of Legacy & UEFI which you can chainload open source from a TFTP server . To load an open source copy to this chip would be redundant. I was researching a way to use Linux instead of WinPE for deployment and everything pointed to a tool known as SYSLINUX but I never got anywhere with it.

    So I ripped apart this EliteBook 840 G6 because…

Maybe? I read it apparently can also come in 64 and 128 capacities but on this laptop booting off the NVMe is pretty standard especially considering it's 256GB. So 256GB NVMe SSD vs 32GB eMMC module? You couldn't even use this for cache.
  18. So I ripped apart this EliteBook 840 G6 because it swears it has a 32GB Kingston SD card but I couldn't fucking find it.

I had the smart card reader removed, detached the mouse pad, removed the SSD, took the battery out, ripped out the keyboard, looked under the RAM, checked the SIM slot. Could not find a SD card or SD card slot. Some research said the Smart Card reader can have an adapter to read SD cards but nothing was in there.

Turns out the bastard was hiding under the Wi-Fi card of all places as a eMMC module.

    20240111_090713.thumb.jpg.999f581c2895e9c69079440dd51db8d1.jpg

Why is this here? Why does this exist? Why bother when you have a NVMe SSD slot and came with one? This is a TB2932 which according to what I read is a SATA performance level chip but it's only 32GB. What function does this serve? I was able to format it and mount the drive. I mean you could in theory install Linux on it and use that if you wanted the laptop to double as a server but otherwise I have no idea...

    Any ideas?

If it's only immediately covering brick (1/2 to 3/4th") I'd probably opt for a masonary drill bit and just drill into the brick. At least then you know the thermostat won't be going anywhere. If you ever want to relocate it a little plaster, primer, & paint will fill and cover up the holes.

it's easy to set your pc to sleep itself at a c…

I've been told for a very long time that waking a computer from sleep state (apparently there's various stages like S1 - S5 or something) has always been an on and off problem feature in multiple OS's. I could see how something ran when putting to sleep could make it not wake up (Rundll32.exe). Or just go to a black screen during wake forcing you to hard shutdown. That was most common and still kinda today.

So Linux will accept... sudo reboot bootloader…

If I have privileges I just type reboot and get the same result. Instant reboot, kills everything running, no warning. Not sure what difference appending bootloader makes. It's possible the reboot command was read and executed but the option was ignored. Try running the command again but throw gibberish after sudo reboot and see if it throws an error or reboots. That'll give you your answer.

it's easy to set your pc to sleep itself at a c…

I don't think this is possible from the OS. In a suspended state data is held in RAM but I believe the OS completely stops actually executing. The same would go for Linux. There would be no process running that tracks time to wake the machine so only options would be motherboard options be that BIOS RTC or probably preferably Wake on LAN. If you're savvy enough you could build a small network client that makes a wake request at a certain time to that computer with Wake on LAN enabled. You could program the client to send the request on any schedule you want. Weekdays excluding weekends, just weekends, first two weeks of every month, etc. Food for thought if it helps.
