  1. That's sort of the plan. Buy a card now, hang onto it until Pascal pricing drops and the true bang for the buck value winners become clear, and upgrade then, perhaps to a fresh platform. With 390's and 970's being $300+, that's a big price gap to jump at the moment, considering this is a short/medium term upgrade.
  2. At any rate, I intend to upgrade mobo and CPU later this year...
  3. I'm running at 1080p right now, and don't intend to upgrade to 4k anytime soon, but the 650Ti is in serious pain
  4. i7 920 @ 3.9GHz with a CM 212 EVO MSI 650Ti 8gb HyperX Samsung SSD + WD Caviar Asus P6T6 I had asked about best upgrades in another thread, which lead to to go down the video card hole, to here. I was looking at the 970, but if my goal is to effectively get me to the bang for the buck Pascal cards, I figured the 960 would do the trick. For an extra $100 I wasn't so sure it was worth it for me.
  5. Welp, I definitely struck a nerve by asking about 960's. Yikes.
  6. Where exactly is the point of too much memory to actually make use of on a 128 Bit bus? Is 2gb the cap? Or is it somewhere between the 2gb and 4gb cards?
  7. This still concerns me, then. I spend about half my time at my PC in Solidworks, a quarter in Linux, (though my understanding is AMD has resolved the Linux driver issues,) and the other quarter losing in CS:GO/puttering around eBay.
  8. The Windforce also offers this feature, and the EVGA card claims to actually be silent, which I tend to believe, (as long as a single case fan is louder, I'm golden.) Which card is going to run the coolest, and have the best overclocking potential?
  9. I had been looking at the R9 380, but I do a lot of work with Solidworks and have had issues with stability with AMD, (then just ATI,) hardware in the past.
  10. Hey guys, I'm looking to purchase a GTX 960 in the 4gb flavor soon. I'm looking at any of the higher end cards, and finding them on amazon and newegg for around $210-$230. -Gigabyte Windforce G1 Gaming -EVGA SSC ACX 2.0 w/backplate -Asus Strix System noise is something that has recently started bugging me, so along with a CPU cooler upgrade, I'm aiming for a quieter card, and a quieter case, (looking at the Phantechs lineup, as well as the Fractal Define S.) Which one of these GPU's is going to offer the best, quietest cooling, along with great overclocking potential? My research has lead me to these cards due to performance and sound volume. Thanks!
  11. Hondas have grown on me a lot. A friend of mine who owns a local Honda and Subaru shop has a full built, GT35R CRX that is genuinely terrifying. You can do a lot with them! I like the Integras and RSX's personally. Sort of has the classic 90's look and feel.
  12. Thanks! It was actually an accident, as I had them laying around but decided they would likely look fantastic, and, well, I was right!
  13. Thanks! At this point the majority of moderately built STi's can't come close to touching her. If I could give you the advice of researching WAY too much when you go to do it, PLEASE take it. Buy an entire parts car to swap into a really clean shell. I think a 1st gen Forester, with a full EJ207 swap from a JDM WRX, and a moderately sized turbo like a Blouch 1.5XTR would be about the coolest Foz going, since you could daily drive it, road trip it, race it, beat it in the winter, lift it and rallyx it, etc.
  14. Absolutely!! I've been a gear head ever since I was a little kid, my dad taught me how to rebuild a motor on a Ford 5 liter, and a quickly was interested in hooning in mediocre surfaces so I fell in love with old Toyota rally cars, (Celica GT-4,) and Subies, (2000 RS, Legacy.) After a few big block Fords, I landed an 86 Celica GT-S that was in absolutely CHERRY condition. I put 120k on her for a total of 200k flat before the body work was too cooked to pass inspection, and I bought my 05 FXT. Recently got the BRZ since the Forester had lots of little things going wrong, and I needed a more reliable, fuel efficient way to get to work. I kept the FXT though, so now I have the best of both worlds. Boost, grip, space, all-weather ability in the Forester, and high revving NA, fuel sipping, RWD Sideways goodness in the BRZ. More here: http://imgur.com/a/Qj2iI The FXT is on 04 STi BBS goldies during the summer usually, I tossed the Silver BBS from the 02 WRX (rare factory option,) on while I refinished the goldies. The BRZ then got the silver BBS.
  15. New here, jumping in since we're talking about gas! http://www.toptiergas.com/retailers/ I've always worked off the top tier list and had good results. I try to limit fueling to as few gas stations as I can so I can pinpoint what happened if I have a unique fuelling event. I have a fully built Forester XT with a fairly aggressive tune, so while most modern cars should be able to run just about anything, my turbo toaster isn't set up for that!! My 2015 BRZ seems to run fine on anything, but I put in Shell or Mobil usually, since I like to hang out at redline.
