This might be a bit long winded but I want to make sure that I don’t leave details out as more details allow for better troubleshooting. Recently my computer has been having issues that when loading something like a loading screen in a game, my computer will crash, screens go black and fans ramp up to 100%. I reset my computer and when it restarts some times the game won’t be installed on my computer anymore. I chalked this up to a hard drive failure and purchased a new pair of hard drives replacing my two 512 gb Samsung 950 evo drives with two 1tb Samsung 980 drives. See below for the rest of the specs.
Asus TUF B450 mobo
AMD ryzen 9 3900x CPU
32gb corsair dominator RAM
Corsair RM1000i PSU
Gygabyte RTX 2080 Super GPU.
Now on to my current problem, I installed the new hard drives in a RAID 0 config like I have previously. At first I wasn’t able to get my windows installer to recognize my RAID array while trying to load the drivers that I got from AMDs website, but I got it to recognize the array when using the drivers on the DVD included with my mother board. Installed windows. My current issue is now, that after being on for about a minute or two my windows will lock up and I have to hard restart my computer. I thought my RAM might have a bad stick so I did the “pull one stick, ran on 1 stick and locked up. Swapped sticks, ran on 1 stick and locked up” so it wasn’t my RAM causing the issue. I thought it might be a RAID driver so I re-installed windows on one drive in a typical SATA setup and I got the same result with it locking up after about a couple minutes. I can run the system fine in safe mode without issue so it’s leading me to believe that something isn’t quite right with the software but I can’t update anything with windows or drivers while in safe mode. Any insight will be helpful.
