  1. Hey guys, I'm looking to sell my gaming pc before I go off to uni in the fall and I'd like an idea of how much to sell it for. I'll list the parts below along with how much I paid for them. They are all barely used and the hard drive is obviously wiped and formatted but I no longer have Windows on the machine. Cpu - i5 4670k (£150) Cooler - CM Hyper 103 (Free) Mobo - Asus h81 gamer (£40) Ram - 2x4gb G-skill Ripjaws DDR4 3600MHz (£60) Gpu - GeForce GTX 1050 2gb (£100) Case - NZXT Source 220 (Free) PSU - EVGA 500W 80+ (Free) HDD - 1tb Seagate Pipeline 2 (2x500gb) (£20) Spare parts/screws/fans to get it up and running (£30) Total Cost - £400 If you have any recommendations about whether I should add something before selling it to help increase its value / buyer demand (E.g Windows installed, Software and drivers so it's ready to go, SSD, etc.) I would be grateful but I am mainly looking for a value I should sell this for. I will have to sell it through either eBay or Facebook as there isn't really another option here in the UK but I am open to suggestions. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Many thanks, Harrison
  2. Thanks to all you guys for your help but I'm going to bed now. My original post still stands and I'll be back in about 12 hours in case someone else replies. That'll help me sleep on it and see if AMD has anything else up their sleeve too. Night, guys.
  3. You suggested the 410 originally but It didn't fit the 280mm radiator and I wanted room for watercooling in the future anyway. Monitors though I have an old benq https://www.amazon.co.uk/BenQ-G2220HD-21-5-Inch-Monitor/dp/B001WRMOTU (not the exact one but similar) and I plan to upgrade that next to another overkill type (probably something like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01BFH1AIM/ref=ox_sc_sfl_image_9?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE ) so I'm planning for that
  4. So I'll go with the 1080 now then? I'll sleep on it for a few days nonetheless tho.
  5. Had a couple of upgrades since but I currently have a 6700k on a Z170 S, 16gb Ballistix Sport LT, NZXT Kraken X61, GTX 950 SC, 2TB WD harddrive, OCZ Trion 150 480gb SSD, Corsair CS750M all in a white Phantom 530
  6. 4:06 yessirree I told you I was an avid gamer. What would I be without a messed up sleep cycle?
  7. Okay, I'll hold off til then, might get me off the impulse-buy mood finally. PS. I knew I recognised you from somewhere. You helped me when I was first making my build last April/June. Thanks for the continued support man! I have the case and SSD you recommended right next to me.
  8. Any idea when that's coming? Still trucking along with a 950 at the moment. So I'd rather upgrade sooner than the bragging rights later
  9. Just from a quick scan on Amazon, I like the look of this one https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01HRYFQAA/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1AJC4A59LA5N6 purely because it's white and so's the rest of the build
  10. Anything I should specifically watch out for when shopping?
  11. Okay, so I'll keep it simple. I have £750. I want a GTX 1080. I can't tell the difference between them. So you guys have helped me so much in the past I thought I'd ask once again. I know it's probably best to get a cheaper card like a 1060/1070 and put my money towards an upgrade or something but tbh I want the bragging rights of saying "I have a 1080", sorry if that makes me a bad person or whatever. I have a 6700k @ 4.8ghz, an asus z170 s mobo and a 750W power supply. Cooling-wise it'd have to be air cooled but I'm looking to upgrade to water in a year or so. As far as usage it's gonna see a lot, I'm an avid gamer and I'm going for a somewhat overkill thing anyway, I'm sick of being held back because I only got the bare minimum for what I need to save a few quid. I'm going to bed soon so sorry if I can't answer your questions immediately but I tried to include everything I could think of and I'll be back about 12 hours after I post this. Thanks again, Nos
  12. Hey guys, So about a week ago my system ran the scheduled backup on my external hard drive, that went fine and it created a backup and a system image. Today however, I woke up to play some games on steam and find that all of my games are marked uninstalled. I checked the downloads tab in settings to make sure it registered as seeing my other library folder i have on the external hard drive, and it doesn't, nor can I add it back it just doesn't see the drive at all. So I go to file explorer and try to see it in there and when I click on the drive it says "This disk cannot be accessed. It is corrupted and unreadable." or something along those lines. After a bit of research online I ran a chkdsk command on the drive and it seemed to fix it. But when I tried to open it then it would say "Access denied. You do not have permission," again I don't remember the exact wording. After more research I tried taking ownership of the drive and did some things in the settings. Now, at least, I can open the drive and look at the files inside. Most of it is gone including my whole steam library and some photos and movies I had on there also but there is still a few folders left - Half of my SC: Blacklist game folder that was seperate to my steam folder, a few photos (Most of which don't open) and what appears to be the backup folder. First of all, is there any way to get the lost data back or is it gone forever? Second, can I and furthermore should I restore to this backup on the drive? I don't know if it's all there because I didn't look in that folder previously but I'd be happy to tell you exactly what's there if it helps. I will answer all questions you need to know and I appreciate all the time and help you've already given me. Thanks, N
  13. First off, i'll be honest this IS a repost but only because I still have the same problems. Don't get me wrong, I am extremely thankful to Damocles for his help and advice it's just that it didnt work so I want to see if anyone else can pitch in. For reference, this was his post: "I know that inactivated copies of windows will auto shutdown as a means of piracy prevention, but this is unheard of. It's likely that the drivers from the old PC are carried over and are incompatible with your system. You can try Driver Booster or run CMD as admin and type "sfc /scannow" or simply running in safe mode. Best thing you can do is get a clean drive, install a licensed copy of windows and transfer files from old drive to new." And this was my original post: "Hey guys, So I recently finished building my pc with all new parts using the LTT build logs from a while ago, mainly the ULTIMATE build logs because I'm a noob and they were probably the most detailed ones out there. Anyway the point of this post is I need some help with the software side, the bit Linus and Luke mainly skip over in the logs. I downloaded what I think are all the drivers I need (there are no red crosses or exclamation marks in the device manager) from the Nvidia and Asus websites for my hardware. However, there are still some problems that I can't find fixes for anywhere and I don't know what to do. First, I can't watch any youtube videos, I can see it loads it on the buffer bar at the bottom but it never actually starts playing the video. Second, on some websites (most recently http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/ ) the page crashes and tells me the shockwave/flash plugin has stopped working and I don't know why. I have the latest version of both of these BTW. Next, Steam is being a huge pain in my backside. If I click the steam.exe button it either won't load altogether, it will come up with the update box, search for an update then close with nothing else there or it will work perfectly fine with no explanation then the next time I go to open it it will choose one of the first two options. Everytime it does one of those things it still remains open apparently in the task manager an if it doesn't open up with the login screen and I end the task and try again it will pick another one of these three scenarios at random. Next, the notifications screen is bugged, whenever something pops up like when I connect my iPhone and it says "You have new choices for this device" that notification will remain there permanently, if I click the notifications icon on my taskbar the whole taskbar will freeze for 5-10 minutes before refreshing and minimising all my apps. Finally, in the CAM software I downloaded for my Kraken x61 cooler to monitor the components there is a notification that continuously pops up saying "Kraken fan is malfunctioning" when it's not and changing profiles and things in the same app changes the physical fan speeds perfectly fine for all of them. So that's my situation. If it helps I have a Sabertooth Z170 S motherboard, a 6700k processor at stock speeds, a Kraken x61 cooler and a GTX 950 in my system. Also I the Windows 10 version I have is not activated as it is installed on the HDD I salvaged from my old computer so if that's the problem I'll feel really stupid. I am planning to buy a new key in the next few days to activate it again though. Solutions to any of these problems would be greatly appreciated, I've had a lot of help from you guys in the past and as always if you have any questions I'd be happy to answer down below but forgive me if I seem a bit inexperienced because I really am. Thanks, N xx"
