Nfan reacted to LAwLz in Windows 10 Data Collection
It makes me really sad to see you repeat the same lies the Microsoft Defense Force is desperately trying to make people believe in.
You can not compare the telemetry data Windows 7 collects with the one Windows 10 collects.

    1) It was optional in Windows 7. This alone makes them in two completely different leagues. I could make a rape analogy, but I think you understand the importance of options and actually following what the user says without one.

    2) Windows 10 collects WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more info than Windows 7 ever did. You're trying to make the argument that Windows 7 sometimes collected some info (if you were OK with it) is the same as Windows 10 collecting a fuckton of info about you, and disregarding the options of users. For example every time you do a local search on your Windows 10 computer, regardless of what privacy settings you have enabled/disabled, your computer will call home to Microsoft. And yes I mean things like every time you search for a program in the start menu, it calls home. Windows 7 never did anything like it.

Sadly I don't have the log files anymore, but I actually spend months collecting data from Windows 7 a few years ago because people were saying that Daz Loader installed spyware (fun fact, it didn't with the version I tried). So I installed Windows 7 in a VM and used Daz Loader, and then looked though months worth of traffic. I never found any suspicious traffic to anything. Not to some Daz server, nor to Microsoft. But as soon as I started looking Windows 10 I was overwhelmed by data going to Microsoft. It really was shocking how much they collected even with everything turned to maximum privacy.
If I had to guess, I'd say more traffic went to Microsoft in an hour in Windows 10, than it did in a month with Windows 7.

Seeing people say "Windows 7 did the same thing!" is to me like saying a guy who fucked a drunk girl at a bar one night is the same as a serial rapist. One asks for permission and respects that, and even if it gets an OK from the user it is pretty gentle. The other disregards the users option and then goes ham and doesn't even use lube.

Oops... Made a rape analogy after all.

Of course, if you install all updates for Windows 7 then chances are it collects a lot of personal information too since Microsoft backported those things, but luckily for Windows 7 users they can just hide those updates.

This is the argument of a three year old. "He started it" or "he did it too" are not excuses.
Microsoft actually has more access to private data than my ISP and phone company. My ISP/Phone company can only see the traffic leaving my computer. Microsoft has access to all local data which are not intended to leave my PC, and they also have access to data before it is encrypted, and after it is decrypted.

I am actually pretty shocked that you would even say something this ignorant. Did your account get compromised or something? I've never seen you talk this much bullshit before.

OK, so, I always think about this and can never come to a concrete answer. Things people say that make life worth it is having a hobby, friends, family, job, and money. But let's say, for instance you have non of those things. Let's say you are 16, don't have any wants, have a father with cancer, brother with depression(who also doesn't want to interact with anybody but his computer and friends, also have a brother who's constantly mad and abusive, have an extended family who only cares about the eldest, have a mother who's never happy, have no friends at school (except for fake ones), are failing in school, doesn't care about any hobbies, and can't get a job. How would you get around these problems? Of course you could always just say to make more friends, but when there is actually no one is not stupid about things, it is impossible. And even if you do fix all these problems somehow, you are still forced to work until the rest of your life and then just die. So what makes life living after all theses
Things? And also, I don't want to make anyone else sad or hate me more by talking to them so I can't really do anything there.

    Sellout:
noun: a person who compromises his or her personal values, integrity, talent, or the like, for money or personal advancement.

    Linus has:
    1) Lied about not making Vessel exclusive content. Now luckily for us Vessel died and the content was released to everyone, but that was not something Linus had planned.
    2) Been sponsored by multiple companies, and recommended several products which he has later apologized for (or stopped being sponsored by) because it turned out the product/company was bad and his audience got mad at him. This goes against his words that he would always stay honest and only recommend things he personally liked.
    3) He doesn't like the thumbnails himself, but he keeps using them because he thinks it makes him more money.

Three examples of Linus selling out. He is a massive sellout. Face facts.

You can still like his content though.

Hey LTT crew, thought I'd give some constructive feedback on your new style of thumbnails. Like many I follow far too many channel to keep track of day by day. Youtube seems to always sort my sub feed by the ones I actually watch and enjoy. However I've started to notice your videos no long are on my feed...

I normally have upwards of 30-40 videos per day featured in my daily sub feed. Of which maybe 10-15 I even click on to watch. So my brain prioritizes content that is recognizable, of serious nature, informative, high quality & looks like effort was made. All this info and more can be absorbed by a single thumbnail. for example.

These 4 thumbnails all share a few common theme & some individual components.

These all have a clear goal of brand recognition through the use of logos, text or style. With the LTT PS4 video clearly being the most simple, yet highly professional. You can tell a set, high quality camera/lighting and even thought went into the single photograph. Jayz K95 has professional looking marco & colour details with simple informative text. Jacks BF1 video has a clear and easily recognizable logo with a simple screenshot with flat colours. The Singularity computers like the LTT one looks professional, done on a set with lighting & thought. These tell my brain with in milliseconds who the video belongs to, will the video be informative and of a serious nature. They are all simple yet complex and elegant.

Then we have these types of thumbnails...

These all share some very similar qualities...

When my time is limited, valuable & spent with through and consideration. None of the above thumbnail even got more than a 0.0001% of a second look before never being looked at again on my sub feed. They blending into the mess of content that is youtube single quality platform for all. Now granted you can clearly see I have watched the LTT video, but that was because I only noticed it when on the LTT channel itself.. not watched from my sub feed.

These all have the exact same first impressions,

This video isn't serious and doesn't contain important information. Here are generic click-bait keywords or expressions of random stock photographs or googled images because I have no skills, material or knowledge to produce my own thumbnails to represent what this video is really about.

Now I know everyone thinks differently and will interpret what they see differently, especially if you're of a different age group. But here is the opinions of a 32yo geek, gamer & system builder who works designing & edited professional video & visual effects content. Which is nothing special compared to the companies of whose product you're featuring in these videos or the potential companies of the future.

What happened? seriously why the huge reverse in quality representation?

easier method for running recovery commands without external media.

Once automatic repair mode is ready, you’ll see the Automatic Repair screen. From here select Advanced options.
On the next screen, click Troubleshoot and then Advanced options once again.

    after selecting repair>cmd prompt, enter:
    BootRec.exe /fixmbr

you can also substitue the /fixmbr with thes commands:

/FixBoot. Writes a boot sector onto the system partition to start Windows

/ScanOs. Scans all disks for Windows installations and displays them to you.

/RebuildBcd. Scans all disks for Windows installations and prompts you to pick the ones you want to add to the BCD.

What the hell kind of argument is this?

Not long ago a game was released that can only be played on PC.

So, can you play that game on console? No, you can't.

Each setup has their own exclusives.

You care about how much power your accessories draw? I guarantee your 60" TV + console draws about the same amount of power as a computer with a monitor.

Over the life of the console/PC, a PC will be about the same price as a console. How much does xbox live membership cost... every year? How much do those games cost? How much do your controllers cost? How much does it cost when your console breaks? If we're using a PC to replicate graphics available on a console, a PC will easily last 2 console generations, as the console is generally a generation behind in terms of graphics. Not to mention that same computer could be upgraded FOR VERY CHEAP to last even longer.

Your arguments are awful. Try again.

I think consoles are good... for children or stupid people who are afraid to build their own PC. They just work, period. They may have graphics from yesteryear, but generally you can just turn them on and play. And that's all that matters to some people.

There are no arguments for controllers because PCs can use every modern controller available to consoles (+ keyboard and mouse).
