  1. I'm currently running the IGP in my i5 4690k.
  2. LG make great stuff. Short throw projectors are really useful
  3. Intel is an interesting one. I can somewhat see Intel wanting the GPU business (or maybe just licencing IP), but the CPU business doesn't make much sense. For high end servers, IBM and Oracle have products that outperform Intel. Some enterprises are moving towards ARM or other platforms, but not too many.
  4. This rumour is coming up again, with Fudzilla having an industry source claiming they are in talks: http://fudzilla.com/news/graphics/38725-microsoft-interested-to-acquire-amd
  5. They should call it "Fart". If its terrible, what did you expect, you bought a Fart. If its amazing, a Fart beat Nvidia's Titan! The Titans were overthrown by the Olympians in a ten year war. There were 12 Olympians: Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter, Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Ares, Aphrodite, Hephaestus, Hermes and Hestia. AMD will probably choose one of these, and my guess would be Zeus.
  6. Plex is a decent alternative to DLNA for the PS4. It gets all the metadata for anything it can find, and the interface is nice. The PS4 does need DLNA support though.
  7. Vessel username: Ricimaci Favourite videos: https://www.vessel.com/videos/LCoY5zfFf https://www.vessel.com/videos/JemZ8O7Hy
  8. It's one thing to accept a cash bribe, and another thing entirely to be owned by Sony. It makes absolutely no sense for Sony to release a game for a competitors platform, just as it makes no sense for Microsoft or Nintendo to.
  9. The power consumption is reduced when getting the same performance as DX11. The results above include the big FPS jump from using DX12. If DX12 is used, but the target FPS is the same as DX11, the power consumption should drop in theory. The CPU is doing more work, but the GPU is also getting more draw calls, due to it being less CPU limited, meaning it isn't idling as often, increasing the power consumption.
  10. The number of lanes in a cable has NO effect on tearing. Lots of current standards use multiple lanes for sending data. DVI has a single and dual link standard, which refers to the number of lanes. HDMI is an evolution of DVI, with 4 lanes. When using display port with a passive adapter, it actually sends the raw data over the cable, not data packets. The reason for active adapters is to convert to packets, for higher bandwidth. Display port uses 4 lanes, as can be seen in the connector pin out on Wikipedia. The reason why there is tearing on 2-tile displays is to do with the h-sync, v-sync and DE signals. These are the signals that trigger a new line and frame, and the pixel clock is derived from them. When using 2 different cables, there are 2 sets of these, and they are not synchronised. In the cable itself, these are either separate electrical lines, or embedded into one of the lines. To increase bandwidth, using multiple lanes is often better than just increasing the frequency. Its the reason why graphics cards memory bus sizes are bigger on the higher end cards. Increasing frequency only goes so far. I work in the video group of a major electronics company, for anyone looking for a source for this.
  11. The leaked documentation for the Xbox One SDK gives some good detail as to what the 7th core does. Its clearly written under the "Development Environment, Tools and Automation" heading, called "Accessing a 7th Processing Core", for anyone who has downloaded the documentation. Basically, 50% of the core is available all the time, and up to 80% can be available, depending on what the system is doing. Given that the documentation has been leaked, I'd assume that any dev that wants to use the 7th core will. Also, there is nothing in the source link to suggest only some developers can use this. I think you might have misread the title.
  12. Dear Linus and Luke If I do win, and you are reading this, you should both randomly dance while awkwardly staring at the camera. Regards, Rici
  13. I really like its looks, and an IPS display is always a good thing
  14. My favourite part of the phone that a device like this can have a removable battery and still look stunning. Oh, and dem pixels bro
