  1. That might explain why it doesn't display from the motherboard DVI and only the GPU DVI. Thanks.
  2. Not sure what is going on here. I have a QNIX 27" 1440p monitor. I upgraded my GPU from a r9 380X to a RX 5700. My monitor would not recive a signal from it, I ended up sending the first one back thinking it was broken. (Face palm moment) I forgot to try with a different display, with the second card I tried with a different display and it works fine. Using the same cable and everything. Any ideas? I know they are not the greatest brand, is it just old tech does work with new tech thing? The monitor didn't even like my old GPU when it used the HDMI to DVI cord, it only liked the DVI to DVI cord. See this post for details Since it isn't working for me I might look into selling it, but I don't want to screw someone over so I'd like to have an idea why it isn't working. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
  3. System Specs: i7 6700k, Asus Z170-A, 16gb ram, AMD r9 380X - Gigabyte, EVGA 650w GP. Monitor - QNIX 27" 2440,1440 I just got a new GPU (XFX RX 5700 ~ 320$) and I can't get the monitor to get a signal through it, the computer boots fine, just the monitor is black. I then found I couldn't get a signal through my dedicated graphics either, which if I am thinking correctly my processor have dedicated graphics. When I used the same cable to connect with my old graphics card it showed the orange/yellow/pink screen below. My monitor only has a DVI plug so with my old GPU I only used a DVI to DVI, the new cable I have used is DVI to HDMI. I then got another cable and it works 1/2 the time, and the other half it has the same pink screen (only on my old gpu, my new one is still not working). Is there some known issues in inputs going from HDMI to DVI? Also why would my motherboard not output signal from its HDMI and DVI port? Also with regards to my graphics card I am thinking it is dead, but if you all have other suggestions let me know. I have tried multiple cables, different monitors, different PCIE slots, and I have flashed the motherboard bios to its most recent version. When I turn on the PC there are 2 blue lights right by the power plug connectors, but the fans don't spin and no other lights on the card turn on. Thanks in advance!
  4. This is the warning message I get when I attempt to end the task. Do you all think I should end the task? Do you think it would have some negative affects?
  5. I don't think it is downloading files, or else it has been doing it for a while, I saw this it was connected to the downloading of updates, then I turned the wifi off and it keep going and using all of my CPU. My settings app says that the last time the windows update was checked was the 27th of September. For the last hour and a half it has had wifi though and this process has been taking all of my CPU. Control Center says it is not using any network connection.
  6. Not sure if this is useful, but after posting I read the "Read before posting page" So here are some of the specs that I could find, I couldn't find where the BIOS version is and I don't know what it is exactly to be honest, software is not my forte in any sense. CPU - i7-6400HQ @ 2.60 GHz RAM - 16 GB OS - Windows 10, 64 bit HHD - 1TB NVMe SSD GPU - 960M
  7. Hey, so I have an issue.... I will include a picture so that yall can see what is happening better. To give you a touch of background, I have a Dell XPS 15, and I was carrying it around in my backpack all day on Saturday, I didn't use it until Sunday, and it was totally dead. A bit surprising but I have had issues with it in the past where it will rev-up and go full tilt when closed and in my bag and drain the battery (it hasn't happened in a while but if you all have suggestions for this I would be interested to know), I turn it on last night, and the computer fans start turning on and it is getting fairly warm, I open control panel and my CPU usage is at 100%. I have never seen that before, so I wait for the setup and everything to stop, yet it doesn't. It goes for about 10-15 minutes like that and my computer is going slower because of it. I turn it off because i needed to be driving home, when I get home the same issues are happening, and then right now it is still keeping my computer a bit slow and is not taking quite as much of the CPU power, but it still is. I also couldn't really find anything about this online, or at least a very limited amount that didn't help me. Thanks so any help and if there is something else that would help you all diagnose the issue let me know. Right now just with about 3-4 tabs of chrome open my CPU is running at around 75-95%, and that is almost exclusively these background processes.
  8. Thanks! I certainly like the price point of that one better. Would only 2 Memory cards work on that motherboard, since it has 4 slots? I thought you had to fill all the memory slots.
  9. Not yet, are there other Z170 boards that are a bit cheaper?
  10. I'll plan on getting a better PSU, I thought the bronze/silver/gold thing was the power amount, not quality. One thing, about the wires, motherboard spacers, and the like, do those come with the parts, or will I need to buy them separate?
  11. Okay so the current board I have won't work with the processer? What is the advantges of a R9 380 over the 960? I don't know a much about graphics cards either. I was getting 32GB of RAM so that I would have penalty, and wouldn't need to upgrade in awhile. I currently have 8GB and sometimes have to be careful with what I have open. Thanks both of you for the advice on the PSU, didn't notice the Gold version on the PC picker site. I did the 2 HDs so that I could have a HD and an internal backup drive. The SSD amount, so that I could keep a good amount of my stuff on SS and not in a regular HD.
  12. So this is my first step into computer building or upgrading, I am not sure if this is everything I need. So in the photo below, that is everything I am planning on buying for inside the PC case. I am not sure if I need to buy wires, or motherboard spacers, etc. Also is it worth the extra 80-100 US$ for the GTX 970, over the GTX 960. I am looking for a computer that will not need much upgrading for at least 2-3 years, and not sure which Graphics card would be best, for the money. I use photoshop for photo editing, I play some games, but I'm looking at playing some more higher graphic intensive games. I don't need to be on ultra settings, but I would rather not be on the lowest either. I'm looking at Tomb Raider series, Cod, Battlefield series, and witcher 3; I also have Skyrim. I am aware I don't have an OS or any peripherals. Also I don't know anything about cases, I picked that one primary because it already had fans installed, would you all recommend getting it or not, and if not preferably tell me why. Currently, I'm only going to be using 1 1080p monitor, but I would like the option in the future to get 2 monitors, at a higher resolution, whether that be 2k or 4k I haven't decided. Except possibly for the GTX 970, I would really like to not spend more money for the internals of the PC. The set up below is right around 1,350 US$. Thanks so much for the help and advice in advance! Here is a direct link if it would be easier. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/w6dZt6
