Netgear has turned around, partially because they wanted to get into the (relatively) lucrative business world where their crappy hardware wouldn't fly. The models you linked are perfectly capable devices, and are specifically tested for abuse.

The thing you should be looking at in this case is what type of warranty is available and what is their shipping policy for RMAs? I wouldn't buy any switch for serious enterprise use without a lifetime limited warranty and next day shipping of a replacement in advance of you returning the bad switch. HP offers this on some of their middle/lower tier models. I have not looked at your two netgear switches to see what warranty and RMA service they offer.

Well for starters that picture is not of the actual card so that doesn't help.

A SFF-8087 port is a 4 lane connector. That RAID card has 4 ports so 4 x 4 = 16 lanes meaning there are 16 6Gb connections for you to use with the correct cables, SFF-8087 to 4 SATA. The RAID array itself will go as fast as the disks, controller and PCI-E port will allow, you will likely be limited by disk speed than anything else.

Edit: Never mind the picture is correct but the layout isn't typical of 4 port card, the other side of the board has 2 more ports but you can't easily see it in the picture on newegg.

    Thanks...

That's what I thought, I just dislike purchasing expensive gear without confirmation from others.

    Whats your price point?

Are you looking for network suggestions too? Switch? Router? Or just need the ethernet?

Last, do you want pre-made or DIY? DIY allows for great choices different kinds, but requires you to buy the tools and learn how to put ethernet ends. Same goes for jacks. What is your tech comfort level?

    In general, Monoprice is gold:
    Bulk RG6 68$ US
    Wall plates 0.45$ x2
    Plate Jacks 1.51$ x2
    Tool Kit 45$
    Total: 116.92$

Reading fast is pointless if you're unable to process it.
