  1. Hi all, I just built a PC with an MSI B150I pro AC motherboard. Using the front panel headphone jack made Realtek HD Audio manager give me annoying pop-ups every time I plugged in my headphones, so I uninstalled it; upon reboot, audio worked but I had all this headphone static. Note: this had never occured before, I definitely would have noticed. So I just reinstalled Realtek but the weird thing is, the static is still there and I can't figure out how to stop it. Again, I am 100% sure this is a new thing as of 30 minutes ago. What are my troubleshooting steps now?
  2. Hi all - I'm building in the Define Nano S and decided to use a Corsair SF450 PSU (to work around the GPU clearance issue). I have a 1tb HDD in the back of the case and I want to put my SSD on display on the case floor, but the PSU only came with one quad SATA power cable. I don't see how I could make that work for both. Do people usually buy single SATA power cables to use with their SSDs that are "on display?"
  3. Hey all, PBT caps seem to be the best, but there are almost none that are backlit compatible. Do people use solid caps with backlit keyboards? If so, does it look okay or is the backlighting kind of wasted? I'm wondering if I should get a backlit keyboard or a non-backlit and spend the extra $ on some really cool caps. Background: I bought an AZIO MG1-K and used it for a little bit. Although it felt fine and looked sharp, I returned it because the keycaps were really cheap feeling. Now I'm looking into spending a little more (like $100) for a more premium board.
  4. Cool just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.
  5. Hey guys, Is there any difference between these two models of WD Black 1tb? Why would the retail packaging version be $15 cheaper than OEM?
  6. If you're going to liquid cool you might as well get a K series CPU.
  7. I missed the backlit KBP v60 on Massdrop recently, because I didn't make up my mind in time. This model. Does anyone know many many votes it takes for an item to be listed again? I know I've seen a few items reappear over the course of two months since I joined.
  8. There will not be any lag if your card is consistently pushing high framerates. This is true regardless of your monitor's refresh rate. 144hz monitors will just seem more fluid and snappier. Screen tearing is different. It can and will occur with any monitor that does not have adaptive sync (g-sync, freesync) technology. This is because the refresh rate of a standard monitor is fixed, whereas your GPU's fps output is constantly fluxuating. The monitor receives frames at a different rate than it displays them. 100fps @ 60hz / 60fps @ 144hz / even 140fps @ 144hz ----> they are all different, so the screen can tear. It might not be that noticeable but it will happen. G-sync and freesync correct this by allowing the monitor's refresh rate to fluxuate and match the GPU's output, so HZ=FPS always, ie. 1:1 ratio.
  9. I'd say if you can sell your other stuff for a good price, and you have the urge to upgrade it would be a slight improvement. I wouldn't buy the 4460 retail though. They sell for quite a lot less used and that would be the best deal for your money.
  10. It's because of the 950. If you picked up a GTX 970 or R9 390 and put it in your current system, your performance increase would be huge.
  11. All you need is a Z170 motherboard that is SLI enabled. $600 is an insane budget for a motherboard, you can get what you need for $125-75. Also, 64-128gb of RAM? Unless you're running heavy workstation apps you won't need more than 16gb, and 8gb is all you need for gaming.
  12. ? My two choices were the Silverstone or Corsair.
  13. Hey guys, I'm about to build this PC and I'm wondering if I can get away with a 450w PSU. i5-6600 + Cryrig M9i Sapphire Nitro 380X MSI B150 mini ITX motherboard 8GB (4+4) HyperX Fury DDR4 2133 250gb SSD + 1tb HHD The cooler master watt calculator came out to 375W at load. (I heard this was the best calc to use.) But I know the 380X is a bit more power hungry than say, a 960. The reason I ask is because I am going to build in the Fractal Design Nano S and I want to use an SFX power supply to avoid the GPU/PSU clearance issue. I would prefer: Corsair SF450 because 7 year warranty. If it's not enough I'll go with the Silverstone SFX-L 500W.
  14. The Phanteks Evolv is an awesome case except for a few weird design flaws (IMO) like the side IO ports which limit orientation. The window is small and doesn't look very good compared to the itx and atx versions. Other than that is is a premium case.
