having good browsing habits would help, not visiting shady sites would be a start.

So? Don't install spyware, viruses, malware, and keep your system clutter free. The computer does what you tell it to.
Keep Windows and all your software fully updated, and know what you download on your system, with good web surfing practices (and common sense)

Because having your main 'work' desktop full of spyware is okay... Just so long as it doesn't interrupt the gaming?

The 1700 and a Pure or Dark Rock unless you want a double tower.

Depending on the RPM of the fan, this could either be a normal thing, or it could be the spawn of Satan himself.

Joking aside, if the fan is running off of Molex, this could definitely be normal. Typically with molex, the fan will just run at its rated maximum speed. Depending on the specific model of fan, that fan could be moving really goddamned fast, possibly fast enough to cause injury.

It can be fixed another way to. Use a thin plexi plate, and cut it so it fits. It will be a lot of work, but then the plate can be painted any color you'd like.

Honestly, if losing your progress on your UEFI/BIOS settings takes priority over un-bricking your overclock, then you should probably re-evaluate said priorities. This is why when you overclock, ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS make a backup of your settings in a known-working configuration before changing any OC settings.

tl;dr yes it's your only option.

reset CMOS. It's probably fine, be more careful next time.

The worst I could see you doing to it is not being able to overclock as high as it should be able to overclock anymore. That tends to happen when you feed them too many volts, usually it happens on overclocked chips in general slowly overtime, but one bad voltage spike can do that.
