  1. PS. I just realised - THATS YOU!!!
  2. I just cancelled my order (I ordered a LG C2 42" yesterday) You're right, I cannot take the risk of having burn in, I play alot of strategy games with long periods of still imagery and/or because of productivity. I read this as well and he seems very reasonable in what he's saying. Particularly the final paragraph. I'm now looking for alternatives LCD (?) or LED that matches the use pattern I will have. 42" 4K I don't want Gigabyte. Looking for LG, Samsung or similar. Asus or comparable.
  3. Basically, would the LG C2 42" be good for my use case? I think I want 4K. Single panel as my primary. I have the desk space (its 2 meters in length the desk) and the depth of the C2 is less than my current monitors (one of which I might mount on a VESA) If I purchased it would people think the C2 is a good idea for me?
  4. That's a picture of my current setup (when I just moved into my new place and hadn't set my rig up) Currently working on the two 1440p monitors. But I need area it's what I'm used to. Interested in getting rid of the multi screen bezels
  5. Ok, so one of me x3 Samsung S27D850T 27-Inch WQHD Monitor (Black) - (16:9, 1000:1, 350 cd/m², 2560 x 1440, 5 ms, HDMI/DisplayPort) which I ran in "PORTRAIT" in NVIDIA surround via Asus 980Ti SLI has essentially "died" I suspect its a capacitor issue basically won't switch on, (came to it and it was off). I have an ASUS RTX3080Ti ROG STRIX OC that I am about to install shortly, and will replace my SLI 980's. What do I do? I like my big panel, surround setup but I'm just not happy with what I've been quoted for in terms of an out of warranty repair by Samsung's UK agent. I will use it for gaming and/or productivity. I intend to use one of the existing 27 inch panels in 'portrait' as side panel/reading panel maybe on a monitor arm. I've seen the LG 42" C2 and so on that people have recommended for 4k (and for my primary panel I would like to upgrade to 4K as I know that the 3080Ti works better at higher resolutions) but I also want big panel for working area. What would people recommend I get? I like the monitors Linus has been getting in his office, but want something named and that is reliable.
  6. Hello. I'm considering replacing the (I already replaced with a higher quality Acrylic) side window for my Corsair 900D With a customer cut and drilled then tempered glass window. Does anyone have the measurements or template for this? I'm wanting to get rid of the acrylic. All together. Too easy to scratch too static. But this means custom fab. This means cutting. Drilling. Then tempering. Ideally a template of the measurements I can send to the fabricator. Would be best. Thanks.
  7. https://www.businessweekly.co.uk/news/hi-tech/tech-trekkies-arm-chips-boost-space-exploration Illustration. UK is currently seeking to expand its own space programmes with a launch facility in Scotland. They're not going to want to see domestic chip design and technology moved elsewhere on "national security grounds"
  8. Because there seems to be concern in the UK that Nvidia will move the entire operation and ARM IP out of the UK. Softbank were looking to invest. Nvidia may be cherry picking the technologies.
  9. Interventions like this are rare. They usually proceed if there are genuine grounds for concern and the UK Government has legitimate concerns. The CMA report just gives additional evidence really. The principle objection seems to be on national security grounds not "competition" per se.
  10. The whole rig is running much quieter too. I'm delighted with the outcome here. It just shows that GPUs are like cars, they need to be maintained to keep the performance up. Changing the thermal compound is like doing an oil change.
  11. I today did a much needed - Fan C replacement and/or reapplication of thermal compound (NOCTURA NT-H2) Fan C's bearing was going and was making the well documented "squealing" or buzzing. (Resorted to taping it for the past 7 days) whilst the replacement fans were on order and shipping. (approximately 7 days) https://www.gpufanreplacement.com/products/asus-gtx-1060-1070-1080-ti-gtx980ti-graphics-card-cooler-fan-replacement?variant=8271430746207 My temperatures this morning under load: +86/87 Celsius Needed to strip the card down (not PCB from backplate), just take off shroud and the individual fans. Thermal compound clean (it had gone hard) and replacement. Post fan, A,B,C replacement and reassembly. My temperatures under load now: +76 Celsius. US$50.00 well spent on the fans and/or the replacement thermal compound. Well pleased. Prevent e-waste and get more life out of cards. Plus make your rig as quiet as it can be. Preventative maintenance is your friend! Worth watching videos like this and doing.
  12. 30% is extortion. Apple's hypocrisy (and Google) demanding excessive cut amounts to an abuse of monopoly Its also beyond ironic given Apple's previous history:
  13. I'm looking for a good storage/travel bag or case for the HTC VIVE. I'd like it in foam inserts. That also helps keep dust out. Looking everywhere. Need advice. Prefer supplier in the UK or Europe if possible.
  14. No it isn't This is legislation that's been in place for decades. Its Competition law. Companies are fixing prices here within the EU when the EU trade rules allow an EU citizen to purchase goods and services across boundaries equally. Nothing to do with power trips at all.
  15. Belgium are part of a single market in the EU/EEA. If they tried that. Good bye EA from Europe's 300 million plus citizens.
  16. This is post-2020 support. It was no different for XP in the UK where the NHS was paying for support up until the start of 2016. Looks like no different. Whats causing the problems for many people is 'planned obsolescence' both in hardware and software, which is causing many issues as for example 3 year old hardware can't support newer OS. Some of the software manufacturers are also making things even more acute Planned obsolescence is companies basically trying to force consumers to upgrade earlier and earlier simply to maintain their sales.
  17. You're correct see my previous post. In relevant European laws it actually says that if there is any doubt, the decision comes down in favour of the consumer. It's an impossible clause that would make it impossible for a consumer to compare INTEL to AMD. Such a clause could invariably in itself trigger a competition law investigation also. As it's net effect would undermine competition. It's beyond ridiculous.
  18. It's a principle of law that you cannot enforce unfair contracts. Certainly in Europe consumers have fundamental rights. One of which is protection from being misled prior to a purchase. It's illegal for companies to mislead consumers. It's termed 'unfair trading'. It's also illegal for a company to mislead consumers as to their legal rights. This is directly contradictory to EU consumer law. If no one is able to independently compare the performance of a product, consumers cannot make informed choice and therefore are more easily misled. Thus the contract is unfair. Good luck to Intel, AMD, Microsoft or anyone else trying to enforce an unenforceable contract.
  19. Consumers determine price. If price exceeds value. Consumers will look for alternatives. Posted from my Samsung Galaxy Note 8.
  20. Aye. common sense. To allow independent testing first. It smells of impropriety.
  21. Reading it it seems they were partly buying the platform and partly to expand in the U.S. Given the aggressive expansion strategy Future are adopting Either that tool of an editor has been told to be controversial and generate a splash. To drive audience Or Future are going to come in and quickly remove. Given damage to key audience they purchased. It was a stupid article and the fact no one could initially tell if it was opinion or review says it all. Very poorly thought out. From the editor as well.
  22. It's what happens when technology review organisations/individuals appear to give up their independence and/or receive quid pro quo. Forums/organisations like LTT, GamersNexus so on essentially commit suicide if they give up the number one priority: Consumer audience Who watch them and listen to them because they trust them. It's why Linus went to such lengths to state how he's not ever going to give up independence. Plus how LMG makes revenues. Even a hint of impropriety causes a disaster to reviewers.
  23. I think this whole thing is disgraceful. Tom's Hardware are wide open to legal action for misleading consumers if something they say is not true with RTX and they received quid pro quo for that review. There are consumer protection laws in north America and Europe that take very dim views on this. This is why sponsored content has to be indicated. Consumer reviews versus news (or speculation) versus personal opinion pieces need to be marked as such. In Europe the mere act of misleading or causing a consumer confusion before a purchase is illegal. Especially from manufacturers or retailers. If this is done by proxy. By a independent website that isn't actually independent. The courts would have no different a view.
