Thanks for your response. Yes, I actually follow Gamer nexus as well. I'm looking into possibly getting either a 980ti after selling my970s or sticking with 1 970 until June to see what Pascal turns up.

This is my 3rd Build relatively re-using the same parts from my original build. CPU: i5 6600k the price to performance champ and unlocked for overclocking Motherboard: MSI Z170A SLI plus: Black, SLI, overclock able board, the necessary features only, and the uefi click 5 bios was nice. Ram: 16gb Crucical Ballistics Sport 2400mhz memory - Fast enough speed for the right price Heat Sink: Corsair H60 good price, matches with build, and strong performer 45c with full load. Video Cards: GTX 970 SLI pros performs better than a GTX 980 ti, price already had 1 , and the look of the two cards sets off the build tone cons vram, heat, and extra wattage. Case:Corsair 400c was made for the type of build I made to show off the guts and cool them too. Power Suply: Corsair 850rmi: quiet, gold efficient, and fuly modular which made it great to work with. http://pcpartpicker.com/b/rrNNnQ

Thank you, for your response. Yeah, I was thinking 2 exhausts up top would alleviate that But that would be the non-silent edition. I should've have gotten that one for an SLI config.

I currently have GTX 970s in SLI in a Corsair 100r silent edition. Top card I hotter and average temp at full gaming load is around 75-79c. My current cooling set up I a Corsair H60 for CPU keeping that cool 45c at full load with the radiator in the rear exhaust with 2 Corsair SP120mm capable of 2100 rpm to exhaust air out of the case. In the front I have 2 Corsair AF140mm in the front for intake (removed hard drive bay so there is no blockage of air) . But, even with the 2 cards running at 75% fans, 2 front intake at 100%, and back at 75% temps still reach 79c at times (The cards are both overclocked to give you and idea Firestrike score 16,400). Anyone, have any ideas how to cool a bit more cool or have I reached the limits of my case airflow.

Yeah I had an I7 940 and the motherboard crapped out on me. But, the price to replace the motherboard wasn't worth it. So, I decided to go with a newer platform. Definitely a reliable chip.

New build - Freezing i5 6600k/MSI Z170A SLI
ownleewun replied to ownleewun's topic in Troubleshooting
It looks like in the end event 35 kernel-power-management was asking for a firmware update. So, I was right in assuming there was a Bios update needing to be done. It looks like it was just released today because I did not see it yesterday. I hope this helps someone who purchases the MSI Z170A SLI PLUS and uses OC genie 4 for the first time and gets the freezing. Update your BIOS to 1.2 and your good.- 7 replies

New build - Freezing i5 6600k/MSI Z170A SLI
ownleewun replied to ownleewun's topic in Troubleshooting
I just ran an 8 our stress test on the i5 6600k non-overclocked and it was fine. I don't believe it is the CPU or Powersupply. I believe it is the motherboard given the FAQ I found. But, I do have the latest driver. So, my only conclusion is its a problem that does not have a BIOS update yet. Any other thoughts would be appreciated. The only thing I know thus far problem persists only when overclocked.- 7 replies

New build - Freezing i5 6600k/MSI Z170A SLI

I came back to check on Intel Extreme tuning utility and it was 1 hour into the testing. I check the event log and at 10:13pm this error popped up below: ( But It did not result in a freeze forcing me to do a hard shutdown) I will post again if I can find out why it would freeze on me but so far so good running 3D now and checking another PSU tomorrow. New build - Freezing i5 6600k/MSI Z170A SLI

I do have another PSU I could test with I will try that. I did suspect perhaps it could possibly be it. But my PSU is a Corsair Rm850i which I really hope is not the issue getting perfect score from Johny Guru lol . But, the way I had to route the CPU power cord behind the motherboard in the Corsair 100r I'm wondering if it is hindering it somehow. But, now that I had a full day of no issues I'm wondering if something adjusted in my case if the power supply is the culprit. I will try that tomorrow. Thank you for your replies.- 7 replies

No have not run prime 95 at all. I installed windows 10 64bit from a usb. I also forgot to mention I did a clean install when I first experienced the issues suspecting it was Windows 10 bad install.- 7 replies

I am currently having issues with my new build freezing randomly. I started to troubleshoot and found that each time I had to do a hard shutdown that this message in event viewer would pop up: Kernel Processor Power (Error ID 37 in event viewer) Now, my case is new so no dust, the Corsair h60 is keeping the i5 6600k cool 35 idle 55c stress tested(Oced at 4.1ghz), and power options are at high performance. I also tried updated my bios, advanced power options ( PCI express - link state management) adjusted, and now I turned off the OC genie taking my 3.5ghz to 4.1ghz. Now, after I removed my OC I started to do testing and everything seemed good no events all day. But, of course I bought an unlocked CPU. I want to overclock the crap out of it. So, I started to do a search and found Intel Skylake has a bug that motherboard manufactures knew about and are starting to roll out BIOS updates to fix firmware which sounds like my problem. But, I don't know if it is because they stated the instability would be from complex problems CPU was trying to process. Now, the freezing would occur sometimes at first booting and most frequently during 3d mark. I have went through a day of no OC to my CPU testing with 3d mark 3 times all primary tests and stress tested Intel Extreme Tuning it for 6 hours. Now, I am stress testing the OC again after today's success. Any Idea why this would occur with OC genie 4 overclock??? Any input would be great. I suspect from my research it is either the firmware bios update that has not been released for my motherboard yet or the OC needed more voltage. But, I am a bit of a n00b this being my second build.

I actually built a pc recently with the help of this website: http://www.logicalincrements.com/games/wow/ I ended up with this build : http://pcpartpicker.com/user/ownleewun/saved/fQfWGX I feel like this build would play most everything in 1080p @60fps smooth.
