OddOod reacted to voyager_ in Rate my new build
Don't hate on the speakers, some of the best ones I ever had were on old set of Boston Acoustics that came with a Gateway computer (Shit im old) in the early 2000's -late 90's I think... They sounded amazing and I was still using them 8 years ago until my sister in laws evil dog ate the cables. Or a set of Bose speakers that came will a dell. Both were that FANTASTIC beige-ish plastic that looked dirty and faded brand new.

Replace the PSU.
As you didnt mention the PSU, i'm guessing its not capable enough for the upgraded system.
Im guessing new system need a bit more power. Most other issues would've resulted in a BSOD.
The way it shuts down and waits then powers back on again really makes me think its the over power protection on the PSU.

I would absolutely not run that. A 13 year old laptop is well beyond its expected lifespan.
What are the actual requirements for what she needs to do

OddOod got a reaction from TatamiMatt in What would be a good upgrade from a Ryzen 9 3900X?
A 7700X would probably only give you a 10% uplift in all core, a 5950x would likely give you a 25-30% uplift with no need to swap mobo or RAM

OddOod reacted to TatamiMatt in What would be a good upgrade from a Ryzen 9 3900X?
DDR5 works MUCH better in dual channel, i.e. 2 sticks, it can be very unstable with 4 sticks and will run slower regardless. How much would you be willing to spend on RAM, it might be cheaper than you think
Wifi enabled motherboards also come with those rear antennae though
Also where are you based so i can switch over PCPartPicker List for accurate pricing

OddOod reacted to TatamiMatt in What would be a good upgrade from a Ryzen 9 3900X?
Do you need DDR5, on your current platform you can stick with your current RAM and should be able to keep your motherboard too if its good enough and upgrade to 5000 series at a much lower cost

I sent my GPU for the warranty to see if they could find any issues and it seems that it had something wrong with it, thanks for your time anyway.

OddOod got a reaction from silencer12 in New RAM isn't compatible with laptop?
Welcome to the forums!
On page 12 of the Dell G15 5520 Setup and Specifications manual it specifically states that "32 GB, 2 x 16 GB, Dual-Channel DDR5, 4800 MHz" is supported.
Given that your service warranty is still active, I'd contact them and see if there are any further troubleshooting steps you can do (assuming you don't have another DDR5 laptop sitting around to test the sticks with), then RMA the ram you bought because it seems to be broken

Good.

OddOod reacted to TetraSky in Avatar 7900xtx warranty refusal
Manufacturers refusing to honor warranty just because YOU didn't buy it directly... should be illegal.
Someone else bought it. It's still within the warranty period. This is just gatekeeping warranty service to the first customer, making the warranty void if they ever give or sell it to someone else.
Unfortunately, we elect people who prefer taking bribes from big companies to protect their interests instead of doing good thing for the people.

Considering how long it takes them to respond to people who buy stuff from them, a week is nothing. They probably don't even know who is supposed to reply.

OddOod got a reaction from GuiltySpark_ in Broke CPU while trying to remove from cooler
You know, it's possible that you haven't actually killed it. Might just be that that corner is keeping the pins from making full contact. If you have a utility/exacto knife and a *very* steady hand you can try slicing off the bits that are bent towards the mobo and retry.

OddOod got a reaction from Velocity7 in RTX 4060 vs RX 7600
I'd be wary of a 2080Ti at this point. They're 18 months from the 7 year mark which is the typical inflection point of the failure curve, especially for top tier cards.
If these are the only two options I'd go 4060 just because of the ongoing bugginess of AMD drivers.

probably an anomoly. Can you repeat?
"Surely, it can't be the CPU" Oh but it can. It's only 6.5 years old. Bump it up to 5HZ all core, it'll help a smidge.

OddOod reacted to Dedayog in Is 69% fan speed good enough to handle 75 degrees when gaming?
How can we know if it performs well? You haven't given any test data, or results to analyze. Nor any components to look at, what GPU? What case? What other airflow? What anything?
I'ts like asking" am i tall enough?"
Get new fans or RMA the product. Grinding noises are a no no.
