  1. the AeroCool GT-RS cube arrived today, unfortunately the clearance at the GPU doesnt allow me to fit a fan in front of the radiator.. but temps are pretty okay with only one fan since i dont OC too much (4,0ghz boost is enough for all the games i own) I'm pretty happy with the outcome since everything is as good as new. as a little bonus i managed to build a XBox 360 Controller Receiver into the other side of the case.
  2. Holy shit guys! I just installed windows 10 on my "potato on steroids" (i know not exactly what you would call a potato but besides my main pc, it's clearly the potato) installed steam, copied csgo over, started.. booom constant over 300fps at fullhd and max details! i kinda love this, since its my main game, and one of the most commonly played games today, so hitting stable 300fps with no oc yet... i consider this as rocksolid. this is even more fps than shroud gets on his C9 gaming pc... and i bet my firstborn that his was way more expensive. what i would sum up: if you know what you are doing, and you want to keep it cheap, go for used parts! it's amazing how much you can get out of 200-300$ when you are patient and wait for the best offer. to all the people that told me my gfx card will only last a couple hours: it was running for almost 48 hrs straight with no sign of failure, so i consider this as permanently fixed.
  3. go for used parts all the way except a case and psu... you can get really decent hardware for that money, that goes far beyond what you planned to get new. look at my profile, i did a used parts build for less than 300$ and it would shit on the pc you picked together!
  4. Here we go with the build! As you see in the pictures, my thermal paste went a little "cocky" unfortunately there was no way to fit my AIO into that case, so i will go for the stock cooler until the final case arrives in about 2 weeks. The system is up and running! Going to do some better pictures tomorrow
  5. thanks for the info.. even if it doesnt last for a year, i dont care, because i'm already planning to get the new nvidia when it comes out, then sticking my "old" 970 to that rig there.
  6. holy shit dude, i've seen so many car themed mods, but this is really the first one that is not an outrage on using wood to imitate shapes, its simple and beautiful, well done!
  7. those vintage parts are looking oddly nice, that would be an idea for the next build! I'm gonna stick with what i got by random chance and see how it looks. it should be pretty decent without even touching. maybe i'll invest some time to make it really beautiful, we will see! I'm looking forward to begin the build tonight, maybe i can manage to show the first results then already
  8. i managed to snack this beauty with the CM 690 II case for 30-40$ from craigslist. So Cablemanagement should be a charm. The case is beeing re used for another project and i'm calculating the PSU with about 20$ for this build. so our current total is at 246,50$! thats exactly 100$ cheaper than the PS4, if i get the aerocool case it's 50$ cheaper than PS4. I am already excited to see how it performs. Are there any benchmarks you are interessted in?
  9. there is no such thing called sweet spot... the sweet spot, if exists, is about 1200-1500$ or even up to 2000$, its there, where you get the most for your money, but you are not going nutsy 2011-3 128gb RAM 980ti SLI stuff. he wants to be on a budget and 500$ is enough to play almost every game at full HD, maybe not on ultra graphics, but on medium to high for sure
  10. i know... i just found the Aerocool GT-RS ATX Cube wich fits an ATX board while beeing super small and has a really nice 2 chamber design that leaves enough room for cable management, all that for a reasonable price tag of 50$ i think this is gonna be it! Only part that is missing would be the PSU, lets see if i can get one on ebay ( i know its stupid but hey, thats what i am! )
  11. so yeah if these are the options, i'm surely going for a sweet mATX board and a small cubelike case. i got my main gaming pc already and i want something as small as possible to fit under my TV and to carry it to LAN's. The board i have sells for about 80-85$ on ebay, that means i can even go for an maximus iv, wich would be really good, since i've seen one that is 135$ wich would then bump up the total to about 260$ plus the PSU and the case i want, thats still significantly lower than a PS4, not to mention that it will crush a ps4's performance on idle.
  12. you really should aim for a skylake build, it's not more expensive but you get a lot more power there! look for the i5 6600 e.g that would be suitable for your needs and it's the same price as the one you searched there
  13. if you are on a hard budget, go the amd path, you simply get more for your money there. also newer games especially with DX12 give amd cpus a huge blast.
  14. are there any compact cases that would fit an atx board? i really wanted to use the ms-tech q1, since its looking good and offers the space for my radiator that i already have from my old pc, but i would need an mATX board to work with since the full ATX is not going to fit into that particular case..
  15. New in: i5 2600k, atx mainboard, 8gb ram Steps to do: Reselling the mainboard + RAM in order to get a smaller form factor, propably going for mATX. Do you guys have any recomendations what mainboard i can get with the most bang for the buck and with oc ability? are there matx boards with 4 dimm slots? that way i could stick in my 4 kit 16gb corsair venegance. Total cost to this point: Graphics Card: 11.50$ incl Shipping CPU+Mainboard+RAM: 115$ Total: 226.50$ I consider the total as very very good, the cpu is well capable of almost every game i know. especially when i'm considering that the cpu alone sells for about 100$ on ebay, i basically got a mainboard and 8 gb of ram almost for free.
