The finals is quite cpu heavy but not too hard on the gpu. However 4gb of vram is an issue none the less. So yeah both need help here.

For a GPU in the era of GPU mining they would’ve been heavily used by simply being a little older, and they’re not power efficient to save them like pascal was.
People were mining on 1080’s but 1080’s are cool running relatively low power gpus.
rtx 2080’s were also mined on but most of them are hot running, and consume a lot of power, they just have a higher risk of thermal related damage long term

never trust “wasn’t used for mining” they have no way to prove that and you have no way to disprove that, error on the side of caution and presume every used GPU pascal and newer was used for mining at some point, and some cards and generations hold up to that better
thats why there’s very few R9 Fury’s left functional out there, but there’s a bajillion GTX 970’s, it wasn’t initial popularity

EunSoo reacted to Enderman in [GUIDE] Using a TV as a monitor, and why it is a good option
With a lot of outdated/incorrect information on the internet on this topic, I decided to put together a guide/tutorial to show how it can be done properly

    Part 0: Common myths/misconceptions

Part 1: Why use a TV instead of a regular monitor(s)?

Part 2: What are the down sides?

Part 3: Important computer specs you need before continuing

Part 4: Important specs to look at when choosing a tv

Part 5: Configuring the tv and computer

After doing all of this, you should be all set!
Remember to treat the tv as a combination of 4 monitors, so don't sit at the regular TV-viewing distance away or else the effective size becomes smaller and less immersive.
I personally sit 2-3ft away of my 58" screen, giving approximately a 90-degree FOV commonly found in most games.
The 58" screen gives the effective space of 4x 29" 1080p monitors.

    Additional note:
    1) Gaming on the TV for the first time may result in headaches or nausea due to the massive amount of your vision filled with by a moving image (just like with VR). This goes away after a few days and it becomes as comfortable as gaming on a standard monitor (but a lot more fun!)

    2) A curved tv is a good option if you do a lot of gaming or media consumption, it will lessen the colour shifting towards the far edges of the display. I would not recommend a curved display for CAD or image editing work for these reasons:

Hopefully this guide helped you find a tv that works for you!
The one I use personally is a Samsung UN58NU7100, with very good colours and low input lag.
If you have any questions people post them below

I think he means that the stand aesthetic looks better imo. All 1440p144hz IPS G-Sync monitors use the same panel so they would be identical in color, contrast, ghosting, light bleed..., at least in theory

No. It may be possible to guess the input lag by taking a look at a monitor that uses the same panel but also has its input lag listed somewhere. The Asus PB278Q might use the same panel and it has an input lag of 28.2ms. I can't confirm if that is also true for the ViewSonic but it is my best guess.

EunSoo got a reaction from Hi P in Input Lag
    1. I generally only look for input lag numbers from reviewers who accurately measure it but I can't find any of them for the ViewSonic
    2. Acceptable input lag is viewed differently depending on the refresh rate. For 60hz, below 16ms should be good for all gaming; below 32ms is fine for casual gaming but may fall short with competative gaming and above 32ms, input lag will be noticeable in desktop usage. For 144hz, below 7ms should be fine for competative gaming, 7 to 14ms may be not be good enough for some people but for casual gaming it is generally fine, anything above 14ms may be noticeable in desktop usage.

EunSoo reacted to Piney in HELP: 32" Display --> 1440p/144hz/Gsync vs 4K/60hz/Gsync -- Which one?!
Hey guys, so I thought I'd just respond to this post to wrap everything up. Long post here.

I bought both monitors so I could compare side-by-side and just return whichever I don't like.

    And the winner is...

    The 4K monitor!

Coming from a 3440x1440p ultrawide monitor, the 32" 1440p monitor just felt like I was losing desktop space, despite how large a 32" monitor actually is.

The 4K on the other hand felt like I was gaining a ton of desktop space over what I had before, allowing my grad school work productivity not to suffer.

Unfortunately the 1440p monitor looks slightly blurry on a 32" monitor. It's something I could for sure get used to, but when you just switch from the crispness of 4K it's hard to bare. I do think 1440p @ 27" is a much better size.

Lastly, 4K in games just look incredible. I am fortunate to have the system to max everything out and the Gsync keeps it running smooth just in case. The 1440p monitor maxed out still looks fantastic, but 4K gaming is definitely another level (to me!). I tested both in Witcher 3 and it just wasn't a contest.

Also, weirdly enough, I actually didn't like 144hz in a game like Witcher. In FPS games it's great, but in RPG/MMORPG games it almost gave me a soap-opera effect and lost some immersion. And I don't play any FPS games anymore really, I'm more RPG/MMORPG/RTS stuff now.

Anyway, the 4K monitor is what I'm sticking with.

BUT, if anyone wants to know, the build quality and QC on this LG monitor is amazing. This thing is flawless right out of the box. The bezels are quite thin and the whole monitor is lightweight and very thin. It's a really fantastic piece of equipment. The 4K monitor, unfortunately, has a dead pixel in it, so I'll be doing the monitor relay until I get one that's satisfactory. I don't love how "gamer" the 4K monitor looks, but it is what it is. If I had my choice I would 1000% take the LG looks with the Acer hardware.

Anyway, thanks all for the suggestions and hopefully this post helps someone, somewhere.

Windows has a built in software calibration solution. If that doesn't cut it, then a more ethical way would be to buy the spider of amazon and once you have used it, sell it on eBay for a little less than what you paid for it.

EunSoo reacted to InMiseryWeSeekPancakes in How does a cartridge work?
( Also incase you don't know a cartridge is something that is connected to a tonearm and then connected to the turntable itself I expect you to know what turntables are at least are! )

The cartridge is something that dwells beneath the tonearm at the very end.

The stylus, or needle, is the smallest and perhaps the most important component of the cartridge. It is made from a diamond or other hard material, shaped like a cone and suspended by a flexible strip of metal. The pointed end is the only piece that touches the top of the record and it rides around the spiraling grooves of the disk, picking up the vibrations which are ultimately turned back into sound.

The stylus sits at one end of the tone arm, which is mounted to the side of the turntable and sits parallel to the record. With the needle or stylus placed in the outermost groove of the record, the tone arm follows the groove as it spirals inward, traveling across the record in an arc as the record spins beneath it. As this happens, the vibrations travel along a flexible metal strip and wires housed in the tone arm to the cartridge in the end of the tone arm. The cartridge receives the vibrations, which are converted to electrical signals through a coil in a magnetic field. The electric signals are carried along wires to the amplifier which enhances the power of the signal. Finally, the signals are converted back to sounds that come out through the speakers.

Ordered the U2518D, color looks good, input response of 5.18ms looks very promising. Size seems just right, I actually think 27 might be too big for me. Ordered from Spain so it's insufferably more expensive at 342 euros.

Gonna test it with my Spyder4 to confirm everything as good as advertised. Hopefully won't have to return it~

Maybe, can't really know for sure without insider information. However, if they haven't done it already, I highly doubt it'll be added later.

Personally, I don't see why it would need to be disabled with Picture by Picture so it would be a good idea to consult the manual or Samsung support to see if there is a way to fix that issue.
