  1. Is it because of performance or something else? Yes. My GPU gets pinned to 100% usually and the vram gets filled up frequently. Though my CPU is usually at 80-90% so I guess they both need help. Thanks, I didn't consider vram. Yeah, I'm still on the fence. OW is fine and valorant is okay but I've playing The Finals recently and my computer is having a hard time giving me consistent 80+ fps at 1600x900. If I could fix that with just a couple hundred dollars, I would be a lot more happy so I can save money for something else.
  2. Budget (including currency): $300 Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: overwatch, valorant, etc @ 1440p 120hz Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): My current computer (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/HfwWkd) i5 6600k Asus z170k 16GB RAM GTX 980 520W PSU Upgrade Options (all used on craigslist, non-mining): RTX 3070 - $300 RTX 2080 Ti - $280 RTX 2080 - $200 Other Considerations: I play casually and infrequently so I don't want to spend more than a couple hundred on upgrading right now. Is the 6600k a higher upgrade priority than the 980? I will probably get a new CPU/Motherboard/RAM later, but right now a better GPU seems better value. Thanks
  3. You'll have to do a lot of work that probably isn't worth it. If you google 'turn laptop screen into monitor' you'll get a sense of what you need to do.
  4. You should try messing with the monitor's picture settings first but there is an icc profile in tftcentral's database for your monitor. [How to use an icc profile]
  5. The rting.com review has some suggestions including an icc profile with the following settings:
  6. Go to this link and scroll down to Supported TVs for a guide on how to check and then enable
  7. Haha, i guess that could do it
  8. Quick Question: What is this monitor for? How will it be used? Fyi there's a lot of bullshit in this subforum, don't believe everything people say especially when its about a monitor they have never seen before. Look at external and credible reviews in addition to people's recommendations. As far as the whole IPS vs VA thing, I find it counterproductive to stereotype them. I'd recommend to look at monitor's individually, paper specs only mean so much and you'll find that even monitors with similar specs can have vastly different irl performance, including stuff like contrast. The Asus and the BenQ both ue the same panel so they are almost identical in performance. The difference mostly comes in appearence and build quality. In this case I'd prefer the Asus.
  9. Keep in mind that you can scale windows ui if it is too small
  10. Could you upload a picture of the issue? The issue might be caused by improper scaling or simply you being used to 4k. But I can't tell just by your description.
  11. Hello, I'm looking for the best Intel SSD for under $150ish USD. I am only looking for Intel because I can get one for free. Should I get M.2 or 2.5"? It is going to be a boot ssd for windows and for games and applications. THanks
  12. I think those are good picks. The only suggestion I have is that a 240hz monitor instead of the S2417DG may be cool but only if you want to pay for it.
  13. Has the flickering been present ever since you've owned the monitor or has it only started happening recently?
  14. I think he means that the stand aesthetic looks better imo. All 1440p144hz IPS G-Sync monitors use the same panel so they would be identical in color, contrast, ghosting, light bleed..., at least in theory
  15. I prefer the Asus. However, you should buy whichever one is cheaper
  16. Yes, they are 2 years old but there are no newer options. They are the best 1440p 144hz IPS G-Sync monitors right now.
  17. I've heard that the Asus has a better stand. But again, all three are very similar.
  18. There are three monitors that you can get. They are all very similar. You should get whichever one is cheapest, you prefer the look of etc.. The Asus PG279Q, Acer XB271HU, ViewSonic XG2703
  19. Other than the stand and the OSD, they are the identical. Get whichever you think is best.
  20. The Phillips 436M6VBPAB and Acer BM270

    Input Lag

No. It may be possible to guess the input lag by taking a look at a monitor that uses the same panel but also has its input lag listed somewhere. The Asus PB278Q might use the same panel and it has an input lag of 28.2ms. I can't confirm if that is also true for the ViewSonic but it is my best guess.

    Input Lag

    1. I generally only look for input lag numbers from reviewers who accurately measure it but I can't find any of them for the ViewSonic 2. Acceptable input lag is viewed differently depending on the refresh rate. For 60hz, below 16ms should be good for all gaming; below 32ms is fine for casual gaming but may fall short with competative gaming and above 32ms, input lag will be noticeable in desktop usage. For 144hz, below 7ms should be fine for competative gaming, 7 to 14ms may be not be good enough for some people but for casual gaming it is generally fine, anything above 14ms may be noticeable in desktop usage.
  23. I think the Dell P2415Q and the P2715Q as well as any of the LG monitors that start with 27UD. All of the monitors more expensive than those were made for proffesional color work so gaming is iffy on them. What kind of games will you play with this monitor?
  24. that monitor is outdated and the high refresh rate will provide no benefit at all with a ps4 pro. A good IPS would be much better.
