  1. Buy from trusted sellers with good reviews on ebay and it won't happen to you. And make sure you read the description to make sure the card is actually working. Ebay has a guarantee against not receiving what was promised anyway.
  2. Then go with a 970 and spend the 40 you saved on games or a couple of drinks lmao. It's gonna serve you really well and it will play almost all games at 1080p with high/ultra settings at 60-70fps
  3. Does the ryzen chip come with a cooler? Would it be worth buying a $60-$70 cooler for it just to have better OC capabilities. I want to OC it either way.
  4. If the 6gb is less than 50 more, go with that. If not, consider the 970 and get something extra for the 40 you saved.
  5. 40 is a pretty good difference, still, I'd probably go with a 1060 just because of the newer architecture. How much is the 6gb 1060 as that would be a definite buy.
  6. That's actually a great build, thanks bro! I might need to go lower on the monitor as a 970/980 can't really handle a 1440p monitor at 165hz can it?
  7. I'd go for whichever is cheaper for you. They're almost exactly the same in performance, only that the 1060 is more efficient. If you have a power supply good enough to handle both, then go for whichever is cheaper in your area.
  8. It might be the PCI slot on your motherboard that is delivering too much voltage for the sound card to handle, but it's odd that a 970 would burn out as well...
  9. Yeah true but this is just for now, once new gen comes out from Nvidia, I'm hoping the prices might go down for pascal.
  10. I know it's too much but I kinda want the NZXT cooler because I want to OC and I like the way they implemented the lighting. The motherboard for the same reason...
  11. Your CPU might be dead from the factory, do you have another one that fits the socket? If not, I recommend talking to AMD and getting a replacement for your CPU. Sorry that had to happen with your new rig.
  12. So I want to build a gaming pc in like 2 months, and I want it to be a complete build with monitor, keyboard, and mouse. My budget for everything is around $1600-$1700. I have made a part list and will include it below, but need advice on if it is any good or not. I'll probably buy a GTX 980 used from ebay as a gpu. Please take a look at my part list, I'm open to any recommendations! https://pcpartpicker.com/list/N6wQyX
  13. I'm not saying that the cooler is faulty, I'm saying that either it isn't mounted properly, or the CPU is faulty and overheats. Check if the cooler is properly screwed in and that it makes good contact with the CPU. Also, check that you haven't applied too much thermal compound. If you've done all of these things, then it is a faulty CPU probably
