  3. I agreed that the best M.2 SSD is the Samsung 950 Pro, specifically the 512GB version have higher r/w speed than the 256GB version. It's the main reason why I got 2 for RAID 0. Here's CrystalDisk score: 2x Samsung 950 Pro 512GB on RAID 0 Fresh install with Windows 10 Pro
  4. I think it depends on your purpose. Do you need it for work and gaming? Or gaming only? And need mobile? For gaming only, I would lean toward a dedicated desktop since you can have much more power. Of course the big downside is mobility, with so much hardware on your list, it will be very heavy and risk damage if you want to move around too much. For work and gaming, I would go for the gaming laptop route Just a quick look between the Asus and Razer, the Asud seems to have bettet value, same price, you can get an Asus with GTX 980m vs Razer GTX 970m. Better grapgic card will provide better gaming performance. But the Razer looks much better. So the biggest point is mobility. If you like to go to LAN party, I think the gaming laptop is the best, just get an external monitor, mouse and keyboard for better use when you are stationary.
  5. Agreed with Brother printers. With their inkjet, you can find cheap inks on amazon or ebay. I got a 24 cartridges for $18 on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/271963235380 Wireless printer is very helpful if you need to printer on mobile, so pick one you can afford. Brother is best for standard paper printing. But if your mom look for photo printing regularly, look at Epson printers
  6. For hardware, there is not really much you can do other than getting better/faster RAM and SSD. If you do not want to spend money, try to tweak your Windows system. Minimize any non-critical services or software from running that would be using your RAM and CPU power. When you actually want to play games, do not run software like antivirus scanner which will use up some of your system performance. Along with those Windows tweaking, you can modify Windows appearance and reduce everything in System > Advanced System Settings > Advanced > Performance Settings... The point is freeing up as much resources as possible and maximize Windows resposiveness use settings only. Another option if you still want to keep using your laptop is check ebay for the same model and if someone sell the same model with better CPU and GPU included. Even if everything is broken, all you need is the functional/working motherboard and swap with yours. Should be a lot cheaper than buying new laptop.
