  1. have you forgot turn on your psu? theres a switch labled - and o. press the - side down.
  2. you should get a software called everything. you're welcome.
  3. this game can run very old hardware and its pretty optimised. are you sure you werent running heavy things in the background? like obs?
  4. i should remind you that you really shouldnt take chinese-made hardwares that are for chinese domestic market by its paper specs. there always a catch. for one, it probably wont have software support you would expect oculus and vive have, think: no english language, no steam-games support, limited to its own eco system etc. china has its own version of internet and its almost self-sustaining. if something is unreasonably cheap, then you are the one to pay them back.
  5. this is the thing. people might judge you for your lack of familiarity of keyboard and mouse operation in fps games, some might mock you for playing an fps game with a controller, on pc, including me. playing a shooter game on pc with a controller is just silly. like eating a steak with a pair of chipsticks. but this is the beauty of pc gaming. you don't have to force yourself to adapt a totally different control scheme, you can play the game however you like. having difficult playing shooter games? why not try playing other games? try something that is slower paced than pvp games (they are bad for you either). 3rd person shooter should be an easy start, like farcry, tomb raider.
  6. idk, but if someone wanna defend epic on that subreddit, it will be quite a show. you should pay a visit.
  7. for one i didn know what the spec of it, so i took my liberty to check the spec. according the asus site, the model only comes with integrated gpu within the same package of the cpu. since destiny 2 is a graphically demanding game, i suggest try it on a more capable machine. if your friend insisted to play it with his starchy gpu, i suggest try lower the resolution to 1280*720 and all effects minimum. as for the error message, i have no idea. if its corrupted file, steam's built-in check file integrity function should fix it. but if your friend went so far of reinstall your os just for a game and still persists, i suspect something wrong with the ssd. this strikes me as a textbook case of bad hard drive sector---where a bad sector could led to file corruption that gives errors when trying to access the actual files, WHILE no errors were given when only accessing the filenames, which probably how checking file integrity work (dont quote me on this). on hard drives, the "index" of files stores usually in the header (outermost part) of the physical space within the sector, which is not the actual data is. that being said, bad sector is totally non-existing on SSDs. they are either good or bad, if an ssd go bad, i guess you probably cant reinstall os too. is the game installed on a hard drive? external hard drive? i dont know much about laptops, but judging by the pics i dont think this machine could fit a hard drive in it. if not. try install some other games and test if the problem persists, preferably games with loading time too, like GTA.
  8. i played a bit of surviving mars. it's a good city builder type game, good for short sessions. get it when its on sale
  9. you know what the wise thing to do? take a screenshot of those replies and post to r/fuckepic
  10. you should replace the microswitch, which costs pennies. there are plenty of tutorials on yt. all you need is a soldering iron and a pump, which costs way less than a new mouse. dont replace your totally fine mouse just because a tiny switch fails. it's not good for the envioronment.
  11. im afraid of the noise of bouncing basketball on hard floor. im afraid of in the spotlight. im afraid of get my photo taken. im afraid of forced to socialising.
  12. i do, altho i only have a cheapo 400/1000 grit stone. i occationally shapen my knives when im in a very bad mood. i have a 3 knives, a tojiro santoku, a wusthof chef's knife and a ceramic paring knife. i dont like chinese chef knife, they are too big and unwieldy for my linus-sized hands. altho they are very good for handling food from chpping block to cookware. im not familliar with steel grades tbh, altho my german knife is somewhat softer than the other. but it be my imagination.
  13. ive never had any virus/worms on my pc, i had a few malwares tho, but since im not a boomer, no major damage sustained.
  14. i was thinking about the other IRA and that made me mildly worrying

    Nvidia CPU

AMD makes x86 cpu because back in the days intel supply cpus for ibm for their pc line, and ibm needed a second supplier, so intel contacted amd. so companies start making x86 chips, including amd, cyrix, nec, national semiconductor etc. most of them are clones of intel chips, some later develop their chip, aka clean house design. fast forward to 2000s, amd designed the highly sucessful x86-64 instruction set, which is compatible with 32 bit x86, therefore quickly adopted by inductry. while intel had their own 64 bit chip, the itanium (RIP), it's not compatible with x86. so intel did a cross patent deal with amd, that license x86-64 from them (like companies buy design from ARM), in change for extend x86 license to amd. via bought centuar and cyrix (which bought from nat semi) so they have their own flavour of x86 design, and also has some sort of cross patenting thing with intel. while in the 90s, transmeta was the fourth manufacture of x86 chips, altho it's only compatible, not native, and it's limited on really low powered applications. so basically, there are only 3 providers of x86 chips right now, intel, amd and via (zhaoxin). i can give some unbased but educated guesses about the chinese x86 situation if you interested.
  18. get it from etailers then, brick and mortar shops is history imo
  19. your build can get away with 500-700 ish units. 1000+ is for either oc guru who dips into exotic cooling or hardcore workstation with threadripper and multiple gpu whatnot.
  20. i had the same exact problem like yours, i hate to admit, it's also a psu problem. and it happened to be cooler master too. mine was V550S (semi-modular). a high-mid end unit. i used to overclock a bit and it developed random shutdown and hard reset over the years. at the end it refused to start, not even shorting green and black with a pin. i swapped for a cheapo brick with unknown maker and it booted, therefore im pretty sure it's the psu. i go to the their site and found out it still within the 5-year warranty, so i contacted CM and the vendor, tell them my unit is not working and showed them the video of my machine running with the cheapo brick, and my cm brick wont start while the pins are shorted. they were happy to send me a new one if i can ship back the faulty unit back to them, so i did just that. a week or so later, i received a brand new V550 with fully modular cables. this is by no means i wont recommend cooler master's products, they make some of the best value psus in the market and it's my go to recommend brand back when i work at a pc chop shop. what it means is, like all consumer products, psus can fail, even within warranty, but the oods are really rare. even so if your product is not a high end one. you should always check your warranty. 80 plus is just a marketing thing, it has nothing to do with stability, nor does it mean a manufacturer's following products still live up to the rating. all it tests is efficiency, while it generally need good components to reach those efficiency curve, by no means a cheap products is necessary worse than corsair ones. it does however, is the brand have extra marketing cash to send unit to get it certified, or pay oem a bit more to get units with the badge. for example, corsair, fractal and antec doesnt make psus, they have some designs into it, but it's down to buying existing units from oem. like huntkey, great wall, fsp, delta, seasonic. seasonic and cooler master however, design, manufacture and market their product in house.
  21. im not a good looking person, in fact i have some serious complex about it. there's no mirror in my bathroom, i dont take photos of myself other than passports or licenses. i skipped all kinds of group photoshoot if possible, including school graduations. i used to play with cameras and learned a lot about photography, not nowadays due to how dated the camera has become (it cant't even record videos), what else i learned is i have a natural habit of avoid camera lenses. thanks to current events, i feel a bit more comfortable walking on the streets with my mask on. no being seen as a weirdo but a responsible person. as an avid twitter user, i always feeling uneasy looking at people's irl photo of themselves as their pfp. in fact i always afraid of ppl turning your photo into memes, like bad luck brian back in the days. (he actually looks smart when not wearing braces) if you use your photo as pfp, or take selfie and posted it online; aren't you worry that, maybe, one day some nasty individuals would turn your selfie into another bad luck brian, just because you said something they dont like? if you like me; who either a privacy freak, or just not photogenic; have you ever rejected photoshoots or similar things? cuz i always thinking im a huge weirdo when literally all youtube thumbnails are ppl's faces staring at me.

they already making cpus, google tegra they just not design it from the ground up, they buy blueprints and build a product out of it, and have tsmc to manufacture the chips for them.
  23. my computer had a habit of randomly waking up from sleep. im a shallow sleeper and i live in a quiet place, so a sudden kick off of my fans usually startles me. ive been investigating this (seemingly) paranomal phenomenon for years and until this day, i thought it was those sort of things which: you have no idea why it happened you can't repeatly reproduce it since it seemly happens randomly there's another solution for this (by power the pc off) so it doesnt need to treat the symptom so far i have been ruled out software factors: my mobo's wake up on lan setting is, and has been off and boot when power is also off. again, not a server, dont need it. it's not the googled answer, i tried it. not working. windows update won't wake my pc so yesterday i was slouching on my bed after waking up, watching vids with my phone, and this happened: firstly, on of my monitors cycles power, briefly shows no signal and go to power save message. (i use dp therefore im not turn them off for compatible reasons) seconds later, my rig woke up. this caught my attention. i loged on, and put it back to sleep, and keep wating. altho i fell asleep later. then that monitor flashes again, followed by full speed fan spinning by my pc's waking. then i find out what the culprit is. this is what my situation: i have 3 dell u2414h monitors. i daisy chained the left to the right. (aka MST, multi-stream transport) so there are two ports from the graphics card, one for the centre, one for right and left. i bought those monitors in different times and therefore probably in different revisions. the left and right monitors dont have their power leds pulsing when in standby mode, so i only turn off my main monitor which is the earliest one. the only thing in the monitor menu is whether or not keep led on while monitor is on. not in standby. the u2414h has a usb 3.0 hub, via a type b to a cable to the computer. the hub is powered by monitor itself, meaning it wont work if the monitor is off. i plug various usb devices to the monitor to reduce cable clutter; and kb/m directly to mobo for compatible reason. i have devices pluggin the middle and right monitor. my keyboard can't the machine, i know some can but mine can't. nor it has a power button mouse click however, does wakes the machine, not movement tho. i dont believe xbox controller can wake the pc like you can wake xbox by pressing the guide button. the guide button dont get recognised by any game at all other than steam itself this is my deduction: ∵ i only turn off the middle monitor as it's the only one has a pulsting led during standby ∵ i have usb device pluggin the right monitors, but non of those devices can wake a pc (controllers, audio, storage) ∵ this monitor power cycles ∴ when this monitor power cycles, the built-in usb hub wakes up the pc. 24. judging by the name, it's some sort of system level service (like play service) for xiaomi's payment system. it shouldnt matter that much in theory. but not in theory is almost every app that targets chinese users have some sort of shady behaviours. uninstall it if possible.
