  1. Hey all, Recently about 20 minutes into any game, my system freezes. I decided to do a Prime95 stress test, both in blend and smallfft. In Blend, the error came up as... FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4 Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file. This took around 5 minutes to freeze In Smallfft, there was no error in the log and it took around 2 hours to freeze. I also decided to take a look at my eventviewer log, every time it freezes in a game and prime 95 this comes up.... "A corrected hardware error has occurred, Reported by component: Processor Core Error Source: Corrected Machine Check Error Type: Cache Hierarchy Error" The source is: WHEA-Logger and the Event ID is 19. My system does not freeze however with idle, general browsing, photoshop, or programming IDE's. It is not overclocked so it is at stock speeds. I have updated the drivers. Temperatures seem to be okay. 50-60c CPU at gaming, and 80c GPU at gaming. An inkling in my head is thinking that one of my CPU cores is dying :( PLEASE Help! 2. Alright well thanks I actually unplugged and replugged in the displayport cable. Went back to the resolutions and 3840x2160 was back again. I didn't have to restart. I wish someone else had the same problem to help me.
  3. Sorry for the long wait. I tried that and it says "3840x2160 at 60hz (32 bit) is not supported by your display" What the hell?? Yes it is. When I restart it again it goes back to 2160p! I don't get this.
  4. I don't know how advatageous it is to learn, but there are certainly ways to learn it on your own. It's pretty much just like a programming language. There are books and tutorials for it, just look for them on the internet. You could start here for example. VHDL and its variants are still widely used in hardware development, I went for an interview for an entry level position at IBM, and they required this. I of course know, C, C++, and some assembly but never did VHDL.
  5. Question in the title. I'm basically done with school with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering Technology, just simply around 20ish credits behind a regular EE. We didnt learn VHDL coding though. I heard thats crucial to employers. If I learn it on my own would it give me an advantage? Where would I find the resources to learn it on my own.
  6. Not until I restart it, when it restart it. It goes back to 4k 60hz When check in the drivers it says 1440p and 2160p is not in the options anymore, until it gets restarted. Hm okay. I tried making the resolution in the registry and that didnt work. How else would I make the custom resolution.
  7. I'm using the DisplayPort cable that came with the monitor.
  8. Hey all, I just bought a 27" Dell P2715Q 4k monitor. It is absolutely kickass. I love it being SOOO clear and the colors. I have a second monitor next to it. 1080p Asus monitor. Now sometimes, randomly (especially when it goes to sleep) the Dell automatically changes to 1440p. Theres no way to change it back to 4k in the resolution settings. It fixes itself when I restart the computer too, changes back to 4k automatically. I have the latest Nvidia drivers, no clue whats doing this. Any ideas? thanks!!
