I'm planning to get a gaming laptop on the go. Does it matter which gen CPU I get? i5-7300hq or i5-6300hq

I been looking to get an upgrade for a while. My 750ti has been handling most games that I play but I want to get a better GPU for upcoming games. I know that i'm going to have to upgrade my PSU. The PSU i'm planning to get is the EVGA Supernova G3 650.

I don't know what happen I was playing overwatch and this happened Cpu i5-3330 Ram 8gb PSU 300watts I was thinking that the problem was my psu but idk.

How would I know if its PCIe x16 2.0 or 3.0. It only says 1 x PCI Express x16 (3.0 Ivy Bridge), (2.0 Sandy Bridge). The motherboard is Dell 0XR1GT

My brother currently has a Dell Inspirion 660 i5-3330. He has no graphics card but he has saved up money for one. He doesn't know what to get and so do I. His motherboard is a Dell 0XR1GT. He wants the best gpu that is compatible with his computer. Thanks!

We actually got it to work by just replugging the SATA cable into the HDD. The real test is when we put in the gpu if we have any problems with that.
