  1. I'm hard stuck on this problem and I can't figure it out. Core issue is this : Whenever I launch a game, be it through steam or any launcher, the moment I make any inputs on my keyboards, or click with my mouse, the game hard stutter for a full second and goes back to running. The next input I make gets me another full second of hard stutter, etc. This makes it impossible to play most games. Any ideas are appreciated, here are my specs Windows 10 R9390 I5-6600k 16 gb of 3200 DDR4 ram Games are stored on a HDD
  2. Seems I was wrong, the motherboard was changed from the original ASRock to an Asus STRIX ROG B550, tho the card is still detected there and isn't in Windows. Thks, I think I might just reinstall windows since it's not even able to read from a dvd reader, somehow
  3. That's exactly it, the GPU outputs to the monitor, it's detected in the BIOS however Windows 10 doesn't. We're running the following: Windows 10 on a 500Gb Samsung 870 EVO SSD Gigabyte GTX 1660 SUPER 16GB Corsair Vengeance 8x2GB ASRock B550 Pro4 AMD Ryzen 5 3600 with stock cooler and thermal paste Corsair RM 750w 80+Gold GPU's fans are turning and it's outputing to the monitor so it's working somewhat. So yeah, GPU doesn't appear anywhere in System Information, Device manager, when you open a game, etc, it's always integrated graphics. We've tried reseating the card, changing the slot, updating drivers. Since it's an older card on a newer motherboard I'm eliminating updating BIOS from the equation. Thks
  4. So this specific motherboard ASRock B550 Pro4 ATX AM4 Motherboard With this chipset would be compatible with ryzen 3600 out of the box?
  5. Now I'm a bit confused ; Freesync used to be AMD's answer to Nvidia's Gsync, unless they've decided otherwise since then? To answer, I'll be selling him one of my 144hz monitor. Is screentearing more common now then it was back then?
  6. He wants the full package, as in 1080p 144hz, which is why I asked him for 200$ extra to accommodate a better GPU/CPU combo.
  7. Budget (including currency): About 1700$ CAN Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Medium settings on games, background in computer science, nothing too heavy Other details ATX form factor case. Already have monitor, mouse and keyboard Alright, so it's been a few years since my last build, and now my brother wants a tower for himself. I believe I've got the basics down, here's the current partlist :https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/gJqWRk The motherboard is kinda confusing me to be honest, and if you've got corrections/suggestion go ahead I'm all ears. Thks.
  8. Yeah, that's the question ; would my CPU bottleneck a high tier GPU if I was to run something like a Valve Index, or a Vive Pro?? Thks!
  9. So with the announcement of Half-Life Alyx I've finally decided to sell a kidney and get myself a VR kit, however there is the issue of my GPU. I'm running an AMD Sapphire R9 390 on an Intel I5-6600k at this time, and I was wondering what GPU would fit the bill. I'm gonna snatch a high end Vive Pro or Valve Index and I believe those 2 require quite the GPU, any suggestions? Budget would be around 500$ CAN, could go up to 600$ Thks!
  10. Alright so I might be a straight up dumb boy, but if I was to pick up a 25ft HMDI cable, hook it up to my GPU and plug it in a TV that's in another room entirely, would there be any issues? I'd assume I'd perhaps need to unplug all 3 of my monitors each time I wanted to play on the TV but that's a small inconvenience in exchange of shelving my Steam Link. So yeah, here's my question ; Am I missing something or is it that simple, just hook up the GPU to the TV and I'm good? Thanks.
  11. I'm currently studying IT, and at this time we're entering the part where we share internet connection between different virtual machine, which runs different operating system. My labtop only has the single LAN card, and from my understanding I should probably purchase an external network card. I just have no idea what I'm looking for to be honest. Can someone point me in the right direction, or even better, suggest some models I can then purchase? Or is there perhaps some other stuff I should take care of first? Thks!
  12. I mean, if in a few years said friend wanted to overclock to add an extra year of gaming before becoming obsolete, I'm assuming going with a 650W is worth it? Also, that's a confusing profile pic, Kizuna + Aqua plus a banana? confusion.exe Edit : It's a 1440p ultrawide
  13. Thk you so much dude, helps a lot. Wish I could have spended 1k on a GPU and still be able to build something under 2k back in 2015, but you can't have fair prices on CPU unless there is competition. Which was dead in 2015.
  14. He's got an ultrawide, I don't know anything about ultrawide resolution honest. Ultrawide has a 144hz refresh rate
