  1. I would love to see LTT take on the professional workstation laptops, and desktops review. In their intended environments, office work, CAD work, or 3d work.. I would like to see the comparison between the 2k professional laptops from Dell/HP/Lenovo, and consumer grade high end laptops. Also a bonus would be to review the Professional grade thunderbolt docks. I am using the Dell Precision 7710 with one of their thunderbolt dock, and I would like to see how it compares to regular consumer grade counterparts.
  2. I am using Dell WD15 dock, it doesnt have usb-c out but can power 2 monitors at FHD, and it charges my laptop all over 1 thunderbolt cable, and it was only 169$. If you need 3 monitors, and type c out, Dell TB16 does the same thing, and still is less. I can't see anything special with Caldigit's dock, it is just really overpriced dongle.
  3. I would like to update who ever helped me, I ended up picking up dell precision 7710 with quadro m3000m and E3-1505M v5. I love it the keyboard it's awesome. The screen, and performance is also amazing. I would like to thank everyone for their help.
  4. I would love to see the comparison to a workstation laptop. I recently purchased Dell Precision 7710, and would love to see how my purchase compares to Razer pro line. @LinusTech Please make a video showing differences between pro laptop and workstation laptops (dell precision series, hp z book, or lenovo thinkpad). It would make it interesting at least for me, and maybe dozens of us.
  5. Thanks everyone, I will look into workstation laptops. That lenovo looks promising, HP's and Dells' look good too but cost a bit more. I didn't think of dock capability this would be great to have, again Thanks everyone for your help.
  6. Hello everybody, I am looking to get a laptop for work. I work in Autocad mostly, some 3D, and I am looking to get a laptop that will work great, and isn't crazy expensive. My budget is 1.5 to 2k. It has to have 17" screen, and look professional. I like MSI GE62VR (I only wish it looked more "clean") , should I get that, or do you have other suggestions.
  7. I am afraid of the rack mount case because of the noise. I live in an apartment that does not allow me to hide it somewhere where i cannot hear it. I was actually entertaining the idea of building rack mount per linuses video, but the power consumption and noise turned me off.
  8. What about the case? do you guys have any suggestions, on wether to go with u-nas or silverstone, or any other. I am looking for about 8 drives.
  9. Hello everyone, I am planning on building my own NAS, with owncloud installed. It would have either Ubuntu or Debian installed with Owncloud. I need help with hardware selection: I read that buying Motheboard with ECC support is a waste of money for NAS, and at the same time that it is a must. I am planning on having all my my photos, videos there. ownCloud will be used for small personal file transfers, and mainly automatic upload of photos from our cellphones. Here is my hardware selection: Case: #1: Silverstone #DS380B #2: U-NAS NSC-800 Server Chassis Motherboard: #1: ASRock Motherboard, Mini ITX DDR3 1600 LGA 1150 E3C226D2I CPU: #1: Intel Core I3-4160 Processor 3.60 GHz, 2-Core LGA1150 #2: Intel Xeon Processor E3-1231V3B Memory: #1: Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB Kit (2x8GB) #2: Crucial 16GB Kit (8GBx2) ECC HDD: Probably 6 1tb drives. Should I go for the higher cost of Xeon as oposed I3, and should I go with ECC memory? If you guys have any other suggestions I would be happy to check them out. Edit: I would be running them in RAID 10
  10. I am having issues while working with AutoCad or even windows apps, where when I move the screen it kind of copies itself over the menu icons(It looks like this: http://imgur.com/AdNCSpv)(this is what my normal cad window looks like:http://imgur.com/MtqHMLP). It is not consistent, and hard to replicate. It's more frequent when PC was on for a longer time roughly 4-6 hours. The thing that clears them up, is minimizing the window and bringing it back. I tried updating gfx drivers, windows, Cad software. Here are the specs: It is a HP z600 workstation with 2 Intel Xeons E5620 w/ 16GB of ddr3 memory.
